I had those chops laid out on the computer, each note maps to a diff chop, I got my sequence that way then resampled the bits into the mp and played it on the pads (easier to work out that way)
the reason Akais sound so tough on drums is cos of the crappy analogue to digital converters they use. some reason the just sound tough as fuck. One day someone will make an akai converter plugin!

Sample rate is not 16, you are thinking of bit rate, MPC samples at 16-bit, the same bit rate as a CD, now ask yourself do CD's sound dirty?
