  • Supper funny

  • This is the sh*t I have to go through as an actor! So confusing! Lol!

  • Where's the "One Take" Santa?

  • So I glad I play "for myself." LOL!

  • hahaha!! yeah he's possessed by the devil

  • ha ha ha... poor Santa.

  • Crack-up!! I love when he finally says "What?" Funny to see Santa knows what I go through in voice recordings sometimes.

  • I do a lot of voiceovers and this is EXACTLY the type of direction I get all the time. They forgot to say: "that was perfect....one more time".

  • LOL OMG, that is SO what it's like!!

    :-)

  • I'm not feeling the fur!

  • how true!

  • This is sooooo hilarious! Never looses it's joviality! XD

  • so real! love this! literally laughed out loud!

  • Priceless! The icing on the cake for me is that I worked on something or other with Dailey in L.A., in the early '80s.

  • Oh my gosh, this is so true! And yes the first take is usually the best and yet they want to shred it to feel like they are really directing! Hilarious!

  • A little phlegmy...I think. Hahaha this is great!

  • Reminds me of the "Bloopers' Soap Is Real Good" from the 60's, and the Orsen Wells outakes.

Roll those "HO's" around and I have no more time left!!

  • At least he was properly dressed.

  • Yes, this is funny 'cause it's true. Take one was def the best. Hilarious moment from the making of Tears Are Not Enough, David Foster tells Neil Young that he's a little pitchy on one note and to do another take, and Young replies with "that's my sound." hahahaaa

  • Thumbs up for Santa's gold tooth @ 1:24

  • Yep - like anything in radio... it's easier to critique than it is to DO! Anyone can tear things down - much harder to build things up!!

  • this is awesome.

  • great but do we really need 10 seconds of dead air at the end of the clip?

  • Ha Ha Ha!

  • LMFAO!!!! Disney execs., have you seen yourselfs here?

THE BIGGEST ASSHOLES IN THE WORLD MAKING MONEY BEING ASSHOLES !!!! LOL!!!!

  • BUAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Poor Santa!! Someone give him a cookie and milk!

  • "that's not how I wrote it",,,, Brilliant lampoonery of a typical studio arsehole, thanks!

  • he does take direction well. lol.

  • I liked the first one.

  • Folks, Stan Freberg did this bit (and better) decades ago with his "Blooper's Soap" announcer session. Cliff Einstein would have known that.

  • Yeah, I've worked with Santas as bad as this too.

  • also they're all about 14 years old and are wet behind the ears because their heads are so far up their adolescent ani

  • HA HA HA Just had one of those last week wanted to rip my hair out and call the funny farm to come pick me up in a little white jacket.

  • That's a good one!

  • Poor, poor Santa. Hope he's getting royalties.

  • I have been a voice over jingle singer as well and this is right....on....the....money! Brilliant!

  • Reminds me of the clip where William Shatner and a videogame director go a few rounds over how Capt. Kirk would pronounce "sabotage."

  • hilarious

  • Lol...

  • verry funny!

  • This is my favorite thing on YouTube. Whoever worked on this...Thank you.

  • I was once doing a session when the client stopped a take and said the following to the composer:

"it's too fast...Can you take it down an octave?"

That's not the worst of it....The composer responded:"Sure!"

  • I'm a director, and this is not funny! : )

  • @KRock73 only because you know it is true. :)

  • Exactly !

  • I'm a professional musician and this applies beautifully to my profession too. I just love everything about this clip!

  • ho ho horribly true!!!!

  • I'm a seasoned voice actor, too. I could swear I just did a phone patch with these guys yesterday.;o)

    Cira Larkin

  • Still hilarious!

  • So true. Excellent.

  • Brilliant, and very true- at any time of year. Thanks for doing it.

    Jim Meskimen

  • ke poca m... jajaja coo son gachos con el pobre santa, desde la primera vez lo hizo bien

  • nice

  • Wow, that was awesome!

  • Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho, cough, Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho, Aaah my throat

  • LMFAO :D

  • Excellent very funny ^_^

  • Amazing...I love this video.

  • God this video cracks me up. -Glenn

  • brilliant! congrats dailey!

  • The worst studio guys ever!

  • VO people everywhere get this. My friends who aren't in the business laughed, but not as hard as the rest of us.

  • Who points their 416 down?? Poor Santa never had a chance.

  • 416's are designed to record from above.

  • Wheels, not for VO. VO on 416 is played level but off center. If you don't do that you lose all the highs because of the end-file directionality of the shotgun. You ARE TOTALLY correct about recording dialog, it's from above or below. But it's not like a Neumann where you can hang it ligher and still not lose any brightness. Pointing it down in front of him produces "off mic" mud sound.

  • Nice Cutler! Only a sound guy!

    Tim Dadabo VO

  • LOL Tim. :)

  • Of course we've all had sessions like this, but isn't that kinda our job!?

And as for those cats?! You think they got ANYTHING that Christmas, I think not!

  • hilarious! so many hours i've spent tracking VO, this sums it up!

  • This is one of the funniest things I've seen on youtube.

  • Too close to be funny!

... but it's still funny. Well done.

  • this is the funniest thing haha love it hahah soo fnny i laughed for like a long time haha

  • Ditto what sirdaffy, Truthseeker37, and zend0ra said. I also am a veteran voice actor, and have lived through more painful studio moments with insufferably egotistic and so-called "creative" ad guys than I care to remember. This piece is right on the money though, and in the end, it's good that we can laugh about it a little.

  • Is that Richard van Dyke in there? (The sound guy, NOT the star of the Dick van Dyke Show)

  • HO HO HO.

    Very nice!

  • A great piece.

  • I live this daily. It's not funny anymore.

  • hahaha too cute

  • Unfortunately this is EXACTLY how these things go down. I am living thru a moment like this today.

  • way too true

  • I'm glad you posted this. It's a classic! Spot on, too. I'm a veteran voice actor, and I've been through many sessions likes this. It's not just the fact that the director is critiquing every frigging syllable, but he's got 4 or 5 other "experts" in the booth chiming in! It can make even the jolliest voice-actor want to throw the mic through the window.

  • @sirdaffy Yes, yes, yes! "Just what I was hearing from the other room..."

  • I work in this stuff everyday and my god... this is DEAD ON!!!

Really makes you see the idiocy that drives the music business.

  • LOL. So true, I work at an advertising shop and this is right on point!

  • Ultimately used for the backdrop in an R. Kelly video.

  • i feel sorry for santa.

  • my exact thoughts. poor santa.

  • Thank you for doing this. Been there so many times, and, inevitably, what gets used is one of the first takes.

  • too phlegmy

  • wow.... on every commercial shoot.... you hear those types of comments relating to any and every thing ...... amazing..... we don't all pull out guns and start shooting the agency... laughing all the way... ho ho ho.

  • OMGGGGGGGGG...this is sooooooo funny ...I have been there toooooo many times too...........thank you for posting this!!!!!

  • This is HILARIOUS!!!!!

  • didn't some radio dinosaur get fired for saying ho? then got rehired like 2 weeks later? real justice..funny video!!

\~/, \~/ holiday shots for all

  • LMAO! PERFECT!

  • That made laugh so hard.

    "hohohohohoho..."

  • Yep, that's about right. "A little more smile in your voice," I say that all the time.

  • the last 20 "ho"s, were like dogs "HO"

  • Ah ha ha ha ha, that was too real...

  • "Just from what I heard from the other room..."

    ~Priceless

But I'm sure it's the shogun mic they used, that made

poor Santa sound like a thin, lifeless, shrill shrew.

At least the script didn't call for someone that "sounds" like Santa.

  • Hysterical! SOOOO TRUE TO LIFE IN THE BOOTH SOMETIMES! We feel you, Santa!

  • This is too close to reality to be funny. The only thing i would've added is a question from the copyrighter, "Doesn't four HO's bastardize the piece?"

  • Yes. Yes. Yes.

    Ho, Ho, Ho.

    Santa JG

  • SOOO been here...

  • Someone has been spying on my life.

  • Story of my life! HAHA! I mean ... HaHA! No, no ... Um ... HAAAAA-Ha! Yeah, that's it. No, maybe the second one ...

I don't know anyone in the industry who doesn't deal with a client like this at least once or twice a week. Production should never be done by committee.

  • Where's the guy turning to the engineer saying "Great, let's go with Take 1"

  • I hear you man those session are brutal!!! That's why I drink.....

  • Oh my God. I've worked sessions like that.

  • It's funny because it's true. TOTALLY LMAO @ 1:19. Notice what was wrong with this whole scenario? Not one damn female voice over talent ;)

  • Ho ho ho he he he!

  • hahahaha
