@saldux To be honest, you don't want to use anything other than white gas. Kerosene puts too much carbon on the wicks, and it damages them. White gas burns really clean, and it's just fine for indoor performance.

it depends of what you want to have it for, (btw i'm self employed fire artist^^)

i use:

firespitting: metal tube, coated with special rubber for the grip, and for the flame i wrap a 5 cm broad and 7-10 cm long kevlar/aramide band around the tube, and fixed it with screws i screwed through the stick ,i use tubes cuz its reduces the weight.

i use a wooden stick, cuz it isnt all that hot and more comfortable 4 me but you have to decide what you like more, wrap cosmetic batting very tight around the stick, fixate it with an yarn of cotton wool and et voilla! ^^

to soak the firespitting torches you only should use !!!CLEAR!!! lampoil, cuz it doesnt affect the material!!!

to soak bodyfire/fireeating torches use petroleum ether, but dont inhale the vapours!!!
