I have to agree with this video...there is a big difference between sending a child to school to help them socialize and learn to think in their own way, but to force a child into a religion before they can think for themselves is wrong, which is the same as the crackpots i see on street corners trying to force their religion on me because "Its sinful to not listen to the book of God"
I had a friend who told his christian dad he was Atheist, so his dad beat the crap out of him. My point is, the only religion you should beat a kid for joining IS SCIENTOLOGY!!!
These religious fanatics are poison. They indoctrinate our children at an early age. Shaming them, and making them feel guilty for living the life they are taught to live. While being emotionally immature and not having the wisdom yet to make sound decisions on their own, they are preyed upon.
This video is wrong, I will register my child from birth to a political party, it will be the republican party for life. They will be conservative. They will listen to Rush Limbauh, They will watch Bill O'Relly.
But registering a child to a party, which is not Christ based has nothing to do with religion. But on the other hand, if religion is really without God or the people who do not believe in God baptize their children they make a mistake, because their life shows a reality without God.
Trebor, I know for a fact that people can become a member of a church later in life. When they are adults. And that is exactly when they should join a church. When they are adults and they can make an evaluated decision. The reason religions don't practice this is because they know if they do, most adult minds will be immune to the brainwashing that is currently imposed upon children.

This means that parents, who are Christians should allow a child to be an ateist for example? This is a disaster for a Christian who would allow this. If parents are real parents they have every responsibility to grow their child in their religion of which they know is the one and right. Example should be followed if not this is a disease.
Being Christian is just wrong. Being religious is wrong. The best thing you can do is to raise your kids as atheists. You need to raise them to think like me.
OK may it be your own way! One day it may be too late for you when you will condemn yourself for ever relising that the reality of God's promises was there on Earth, but you did not see that.
I will pray for you, all the best. You pray for me as well that my faith may be strong enough. :)
There is no god to punish me or for you to pray to. It's all made up. You're the one on the wrong path. I hope someday you realize that. I wish you could understand.
trebor, you miss the point. I'm not saying that a child has the capacity to be a flat out atheist either. They do not have the cognitive ability to decide one way or the other, and a responsible parent should know this.
Do you think your god wants you to indoctrinate your child to worship him? Or would he rather that your child grow and find him on his own? That was the point of religion. Peace in one's self can only be obtained by one's self. Alas, too many have lost this insight.
the best it's to not indoctrinate childs in religion, when he's grow up he'll choose his own path. you agree with me that a 3 year old child can't think...
But if parents are sure they will not be a good pattern for the child, they will not practice their belief themselves than it is out of the case and the comercial has deep meaning.
There is a great difference. I agree if there are parents who just baptize because it is a custom it is wrong. Responsibility starts over there, where parents know that they are responsible to live like Christians, when they realise it is up to them to raise the child in the belief of the Church, that belongs to Christ, therefore it is normal and advised.
This video isn't about baptism. If you think it is, you totally don't get it.
The parents can't decide for their kid what religion he should have. He should be able to make that decision on his own without coercion. There are a million things parents could decide for their kids that we don't accept in this society. We don't decide who they'll marry, what party they'll be in, what career they should have. So we shouldn't decide their religion for them either.
I see you were no good in religion do not you know that only through a baptism someone can become a member of the Church of Christ, through this sacrament we can became full members of the Church.
If parents are christians asnd practice their faith therefore it is their responsibility to teach the child how to grow in Christianity. That is he reason why the baptism and religion are so important in life of a child.
I do in fact know that baptism is part of Christianity. I never said it wasn't. Again, you completely miss the point.
Making the choice for a kid to join a particular political party is pointless, because it is done without his understanding or permission. Making the choice with a religion is also done without his understanding or permission.
How can someone choose a religion if you force or brainwash them into believing before they can even understand what that means?
Do not mix religion with career, with political party it is something totally different. Religion do not take your freedom, if you are a real Christian you can only became really free, but party can only brainwash you. This whole commercial is a piece of a wrongly chosen scene to compare religion with a party.

I mean you can say to a child that we have a god and it's a spaghetti monster, he'd believe it because he doesn't have any sense of criticizing!
