I find it inconceivable - even incomprehensible - how human kind could torture - even kill - another human for what he or she believes. Yet, they did this because "while we were still sinners (!!!) Christ died for us"!! I consider myself not worthy.
@MrEriesal - Yes it is very true, they died brutally by the thousands, not only at the hands of the Catholics, but also at the hands of Protestants, but as always "the blood of the martyrs, is the seed of the Church".
@MrEriesal yes they did. they even tried to lay traps by hiring mercernaries to lay in wait to shoot any other relgious prospects that didnt carry a roseary with them
so true, @tarlen! Good response, the Baptists are quite removed from the "Ana...baptist" ... the believer's baptism and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ are about the only two similarities! Aside from having "baptist" in the label.

What a wonderful hymn. I only wish that we as mennonites today, still had the same strong faith as our fathers did . Very few seem left with this kind of faith and not just so much mennonites, but people all over the world , one in this country and another in that.
thanks for posting...now i really realized how blessed i am to be a BAPTIST today. were it not for their staunch faith in Jesus, they would have yielded to the demands of their torturers. praise God, they remained as they should and now we are the fruits of their sacrifices. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.
@soundthehorn Baptists and Anabaptists aren't the same thing. The Anabaptists are the fathers of Mennonites, Amish, and Hutterites. Pretty much the only thing Baptists share in common with the Anabaptists is the belief in believer's baptism. But the Anabaptists were far more "radical" (from the Protestant/RC perspective) and different in their beliefs than Baptists are. For example, their total repudiation for "secular culture".
Lord, what an awesome testimony, just overwhelming,what a blessing,how lovely. Thank-you Lord for all those who witness on youtube. So very overwhelmingly beautilfy.
Thank you for singing this. We belong together. I am a German Mennonite. Gott befohlen! Eva

Is it true that the Roman Catholics of the earlier centuries tried to exterminate the Anabaptist?

@weavermerle - You are right and the Lutherans places a poor second to the Roman Catholics.
a very poor third are the Calvinists although according to researched they just avoided the Anabaptists.

God says;
Bossy wives and women preachers are sin.
- 1 Corinthians 14, 1 Timothy 2 and 1 Peter 3.
To be married to the divorced is always ADULTERY. - Mark 10.
Real Christians don't go to war. John 13:34-35, Matthew 6:14-15, Matthew 5:44
