  • @ 2:15 - it's a fish - only smaller!

  • learn to fly fish, u feel closer to nature and you sometimes catch more depending on where you are

  • Learn to fly fish...

  • It looked like those sinking lures worked particularly well! super weak vid, do us a favor, take it down

  • Weak

  • I coming here for spring break and I was wondering if this river is any good, or if there is any other good fishing areas? Reply back if you can.

  • Little River is great for trout! I caught a 4lb brown using a Keystone minnow.

  • Voltaire4ever, where did you stay.

I was there a few yesterday around the caves code area and the twenty yrs I've visited the park, never has it been so congested. It's sad to see.

The July crafts fair was in progress but there were hundreds of kids (no thank you).

Might be best to wait till they return to school before I go back.

  • Yeah, Yoetah. You have to get there early in the morning to beat the crowds. I live about an hour from there.

  • Voltaire, thanks for the reply. It's been years since I've been back to the Smokies. Townsend has added quite a few businesses.

I think when I return in a few weeks, I'll go further South to the Joyce Kilmer area.

If you've not been wo wildcats falls, it's worth the hike in. Long ago, I was fishing a bit too close to the main water fall--oops, I slipped on a slick rock and down I went.

Anyway, it's a beautiful area. From Wildcat falls, a moderate hike up to Mt. Hangover is in order!

    ;>

  • Thanks Voltaire...I was sure schocked to see how much Townsend had grown (commercial).

When I return, I'll go south to Joyce Kolmer, Wildcat Falls and Mt. Hangover.

Wildcats Falls dumps into an incredible pool full of brownies.

I almost caught one as long as my arm...heheh

(it wiggled off the hook when I was reeling it in

    ;>)

  • What do you catch them on in Joyce Kilmer? Are the falls you're talking about on Slickrock Creek?

  • trout, yeah Wildcat Falls are on Slickrock.

I was using black gnats but the funny thing is I lost 'em all getting tangled in brush and such.

On the way back to the campsite I found a bare hook on the trail....lol, I wanted to fish so bad but had no more flies - so,

I cut a piece of piece off the drawstring of my warm-ups and burned one end, frayed it up a bit and stuck it on the hook...caught a fish the first cast...it was so big it fell off...lol...true story!

  • oops sorry for the double reply...I thought the first one didn't post

  • We were using small sinking lures. These work particularly well in the colder months.

  • what did you catch the trout on

    a spinner?? or wat
