  • It worked for me at least partially by just plugging in my Lacie to the Timecapsule USB. Partially meaning, I can access files 'other than' my time machine backups. My time machine backups show up but when I go into say 'Documents' folder of a particular date it shows an error saying 'The alias Documents can't be opened because the original item can't be found'.

  • "like" this to keep it up top:

    1. plug Hard Drive [HD] into USB slot on Time Capsule [TC] (& power cord, if necessary)

    2. open "AIRPORT UTILITY"

    3. click on "MANUAL SETUP" (@ bottom)

    4. click "DISKS" (@ top)

    5. check if new HD is listed, then click "FILE SHARING" (below "advanced")

    6. make sure file sharing is ENABLED

    7. secure shared disks "WITH TIME CAPSULE PASSWORD" (recommended)

    8. RIGHT CLICK on TC picture (on left) & select "RESTART"

    9. after a few mins, new HD will appear in finder in TC

  • @vigneshrk Thank you:)

  • thats wrong!!! you need to open your airport utility and makes new settings.

  • My friend!

Thanks Carlson, but I have an Airport Extreme and when I plug in the USB, the external hard drive does not show up in my Finder!!!! What is going on????

    Thanks Again,

    MLE0z

  • Child, you cannot "just plug in" a hard-drive to an Airport Express.

How can you be so wrong about things made to be most simple?

  • my friend

you can not connect a HD to a airpot express

  • called it first thing I thought about this Video what a freaking guy!

  • Hey what do I need to do in order to record with QuickTime Pro. BTW, I have QuickTime Pro. So, yeah how do I record with it?

  • Sorry to say, that didn't help at all. A dead rat would have been more helpful!

  • I plug in. I get nothing. Can you perhaps provide a better quality video so I can *see* what you're doing?

Also, most of the other documentation I've read says this isn't possible, that the USB port is for printers...

  • a two minute video so you can tell us to just "plug it in"?

  • minimize the recording thing so we dont see the reflection

  • will do, thanks for the tip
