this is the mindset we have in the United States. We have become pushovers and let ourseleves believe that we can be influenced by cartoons,music and/or video games. Cartoons can only influence so much the same with music and etc. The tragedy at columbine could have been stopped simply if the parents would have taken the time to notice that their children were making bombs or if faculty members at the school would have done something of the bullying that took place. DON'T BLAME CARTOONS.

Nowadays, somebody always stands up & talks about how bad it is what we're doing, what's funny though is the fact that they have studies to back up all the crap they claim. The notion that cartoons damage kids is an incomplete argument. Do they help children who have a pre-existing predisposition towards violence? No. Do cartoons lead directly to violence? No. Personally, if my son and I watch something that creates some sort of conflict or tension, we discuss it. Maybe some parents just don't want to invest that much time with their kids. I'd wager that if we took 100 violent children, we'd find poor parenting. Don't blame cartoons for your shortcomings.

Cartoons like Tom and Jerry were meant to make you laugh. That was the whole point of the cartoon. Did I think that I could pick up an anvil and smash her in the face with it and she would look like a table? No, of course not. If your kids are constantly getting in trouble then you're not doing YOUR job!

So parents, why not stop looking for a scapegoat (because that's exactly what this is) and start taking responsibility for your actions?

I couldn't agree more! I'm a father to 2 boys (6 and 11), and I try to monitor what they do & watch. But I'm NOT going to blame cartoons on their actions, especially when they're the SAME cartoons I grew up with!

I am ok and I swear I am not a serial killer, cross my heart. :)Even as a grown up I watch them all the time. The problem is that our society today loves to play the blame game. Parents have kids that are in trouble all the time and act like little assholes and they have to find somebody to blame. Blame it on the cartoons, or the comic books, or the toys, or anything else that comes to mind. What about shitty parenting? What about parents whose kids are out of control because they are too spineless to discipline them? What if we actually had to look at ourselves and put the blame there? God forbid!

I would imagine hardly noone is motavated by those shows to go out and act out the violence they see. But they are damaged because they are desentized and demoralized. They may not see the demonstrated behavor as normal, but subconsciously they will now view it as being less wrong or not that big of deal, and see the traditional morals they've been taught as being less important. Relative morality is being taught, which is basically no morality at all. This stuff is more than entertainment.

This video proves no point at all. I grew up with 90's cartoons and older cartoons like Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry, and I think I've turned out okay. By keeping to their storylines and using the characters and animation well they were helping to introduce children to what is wrong and what is right, and also some of what's out there. You see nothing like that these days. It's all to do with how the parents raise the child, and it has nothing to do with the cartoons they watch as children.

Our cartoons are as clean as some of the stuff going around in other countries. Like Anime for example. I love it, don't get me wrong, but the uncut stuff has so much blood that even 4KIDS had to do a major edit and it proved unapealing to the US eyes. Why? Because they edited it out in general!
