  • leonard was a bad fighter

  • one of the greatest matchups ever- both fighters in their prime, both young, both champions, both wanting to prove they were the best

  • How the hell did leanard beat this guy, that shouldn't have happend, tommy hearns is the most talented fighter who has ever lived.

  • @TheBradTobin

didnt have a very good chin though, that was his downfall

  • @toby099 That maybe true, but at this time he was undefeated i believe and he didnt realy know how to tie up.

  • hearns came in 2 Ibs underweight, i think he would win otherwise.

  • With all due respect to the pac-man....who is great anyone one below how serouisly thinks floyd or manny would beat leonard or HEARNS is not a true boxing fan.

  • @B04Jordan Agreed.. heck, Sugar Ray would beat both Mayweather and Pac at the same time, lol....

  • This is my all time favorite fight. It's too bad that there aren't many fights like this anymore, just staged fights like recent fight, Mayweather vs Ortiz or promoters not letting them fight someone who isn't promoted by the same promoter unless it's a fight that will get a lot of money.

  • Hearns is a beast that right straight jab of his had heavyweight knockout power

  • Leonard was amazing!

Respect to tommy,he was a great fighter also.

  • @carbonbodyworker Just had the rotten luck of being in the Welters at the same time with Ray and Hagler. Hearns was still Champ quality

  • @Deanovo1 Hagler was a middle, never a welter, not even as an ameuture. Hagler's first opponent weighed more than his last. Marv never dared move up.

  • "i heard they called him tommy the hitman hearns?? bust sugar called, said he calls him tommy the get himtman hearns!!" lmao!

  • greatest ever fight of the 1980s

  • THAT PUNK ASS BEDWETTER SHOULD BE TAKING NOTES....THESE 2 GUYS SETTELED THERE SHIT IN THE RING..PERIOD...NOT JUST TALKING THE TALK BUT WALKING THE WALK....SUGAR RAY WAS THE MAN....MY FAV OF ALL TIME..BUT IN LOSIING I TAKE MY HAT OFF TO THE HIT MAN AND GAINED MY RESPECT THAT NITE AND FOUGHT ON AND HAD A LEGENDARY CAREER LIKE SUGAR RAY.., BOTH OF THE '' REAL LEGENDS'' WOULDVE WIPED THE FUCKING FLOOR WITH BEDWETTER NO CONTEST...CMON U BIG MOUTH PUSSY SIGN THE PAPERS AND FIGHT MANNY....

  • Floyd will never fight these guys. He will accuse them of something.

  • I love speculating All Time Greats vs Current P4P list, but it is just that... Speculation.. Yes Leonard would defeat every top 10 lightweight to middle weight we have to offer in this generation of boxing. His defensive savy, speed and killer insticts trump Pacman, Mayweather and the down the list... One ot the great athletes who got me into the fight game during the '80s.

  • Hearns got his ass kicked, pure and simple

  • Hearns got robbed in a rematch

  • @KravaLLT Hearns got his ass whipped again in the rematch dummy, open your eyes. Ref had to save Hearns twice and leaonard probabably should have had 3 10-8 rounds. Oh yea the bell saved hearns a couple times too. Just cause you hate leonard doesnt mean you can come on here and lie. Ps He whipped your boy hagler too. Smoked him 2 too 1

  • Didn't know Manute Bol could box.

  • Nope, HouseOfThe7GayBoys was not joking, he's just plain stoopid.

  • These guys would be cremated by today's fighters, no question about it, even ricky hatton woulda knocked out that fake hitman

  • @Houseofthe7gayboys Please tell me u joking right.

  • @Houseofthe7gayboys What kinda crack you smoking assmunch? Ray would knock out any of these punks like Pac or mayweather. Open your eyes and watch his fights. Ray was smart, had speed and power. Manny is a juiced up overrated little girl!

  • @shamusic04 Look at Hearn's legs...you think he can hang with floyd and outbox him for12...you think he can deal with Pacman's thunder legs and do better than Margorito?...u think he can stave off a relentless Ricky Hatton from killing his stick body and glass chin ....Hearn did beat a washed up and way overated Duran and Duran somehow decisioned Srl .... todays athlete are better trained, better nutrition, better living through evolution and chemistsry..

  • @Houseofthe7gayboys Floyd- Hearns would win, just like he beat the defensive boxer Wilfred.

Pacman-Hearns KO's Pac, just like Duran. It would be a bad style for manny. Ricky Hatton tried to imitate Hearns style, Hearn's right would KO him quick.

  • @Houseofthe7gayboys

Over rated Duran you know a lot about Boxing.

  • @Houseofthe7gayboys We have way less kids trying to box now adays then a few decades ago when there was a boxing gym on every corner, so we are far less likely to get the cream of the crop. We do know a little more about conditoning and nutrition these days, but trainers were better back then, competition at the amateur and pro evels was better back then. Look at the heavyweight division these days, you rarely see anyone with a good physique, 90% of these guys are fat and out of shape.

  • @Houseofthe7gayboys Mayweather has a great defense, but every now and then you can sneak a lucky punch a in just like Mosely managed to do. If I were to design the perfect fighter to take Floyd out, it would be a tall textbook puncher with devestating knock out power, Hearns. Manny's never seen anything like the size of Hearns, the biggest guy he's fought is 5'10" Margorito who couldn't hold Hearns' jock strap. If Hearns catches Mayweather or Manny, it's lights out.

  • @DDeCouto Hearns can't Catch mayweather .

Mayweather won't fight Hearns , if he will Fight hearns , he will need a Football stadium size Ring so He can Run like a coward , We all know Gayweather is afraid . so if you really want a good fight , Manny would be the best one . Manny has a perfect speed & timing , His left & right fist has almost the same power . so that makes manny a Fast & stronger puncher at the same time , and Hearns has a good reach advantage and it would be a good fight

  • @CrucisJon How foolish to call Mayweather or any multi-division champ a coward. You don't become a olympic bronze medalist and a multi-division champ by being a coward. There's a big difference between what Shane Mosley did against Pac, which was running to avoid a beating, and what Mayweather does, which is backing up looking for counters. You don't win fights by "running." If that were the case Mayweather would have lost by now. You obviously don't know jack about boxing.

  • @aldointerstellar No dude , it's called Gay Boxing

if Mayweather isn't a Coward . Why doesn't he Fight Pacquaio ? He Gives Stupid Reasons , Drug Test , pacquiao agreed to that drug test , and mayweather said he wants $ 100 million dollars so he can fight pacquiao , wtf dude , Who the #@!#!&#(! would agree with 100m Dollars , Mayweather is just afraid to lose . Marquez is a Counter Puncher but he gives manny a good fight ,

  • @CrucisJon Boxing is a sport, not a Rocky movie. Mayweather boxes smart, plain and simple. I'm pretty sure he'll fight Pacquiao. Just a matter of timing. It will most likely happen in late 2012 so they can have a 2012, end times theme promotion. Why fight on some random date in 2011 when they can set up the biggest fight in years in 2012? This is why Mayweather is coming back against a southpaw. You can't be a champ for 10 years plus by being a 'coward' and being 'afraid' That's just stupid.

  • @CrucisJon You said it yourself. Marquez is a counter puncher and beat Pacquiao. Now imagine what Mayweather, a master counter puncher, would do? Look at what he did to Marquez. It's very easy to see that Mayweather could do the same to Pacquiao. I think Mayweather will beat him based on being bigger and being a counter puncher. Just keep talking smack and hyping it up. It will make it a bigger fight. That's what they want. "Armaggedon 2012." Pacquiao vs Mayweather will happen.

  • @aldointerstellar Did i say Marquez beat pacquiao ? lmao xD Pacquiao Knocked out marquez , mayweather didn't even knock down mosley if he's that Good , And It took more than 10 rounds for Mayweather to beat hatton , while Pacquiao took only 2 rounds and Hatton got owned with only 2 rounds , Imagine what Pacquiao can do to mayweather xD If Floyd is that Strong Why doesn't he fight pacquiao ? Ask yourself , if Mayweather is that good in counter punching he would fight manny xD

  • @CrucisJon U didn't say Marquez beat Pac, I did. It depends on who u ask. Many ppl think Marquez beat Pac the 1st and 2nd time. Obviously u didn't see the fights cause Pac didnt KO Marquez, he knocked him down. Comparing how they beat the same opponent means nothing. Hatton KOed Castillo in 4 and Castillo gave Mayweather 2 hard fights. Did that mean Hatton was going to KO Mayweather? Obviously not, so that example never proves anything.

  • @aldointerstellar Manny Knocked marquez more than 2 -3 But the judges say it's a DRAW

and the 2nd fight it's a split decision . You know bro , Once Manny vs Mayweather will happen , and One of them lost . So that means 1 of us is wrong . Manny is very fast , a Very powerful puncher . and good footwork , and Mayweather is afraid of that Speed & Power . Just observe the other videos . They're saying Mayweather is afraid , everyone is saying that and it's true .

  • @CrucisJon Obviously u didnt read my post. I said they will fight in 2012. Boxing is a business as well as a sport. Theyre not going to schedule a fight whenever the fans want. Its when it will make the most money. Obviously u never boxed b4 cause anyone who calls what Mayweather does 'gay boxing' doesnt know shit. U try getting in the ring with a PRO boxer and "run" like Mayweather does. Ha ha, try gettin in there with a WORLD CHAMP see if running works!! Ur just a fan. U dont know shit.

  • @aldointerstellar Bro , it seems like you like mayweather . You see .. Among the 50 + Fighter pacquiao fought Mayweather is the only one who's Saying , manny uses steroids , manny is a drug addict . wth dude . If manny is a cheater he would get caught by that time O_o , imagine 50+ fights . I'm not saying Floyd is Weak , He's just a Coward . if Floyd isn't a Coward he would fight manny because he's good . Floyd doesnt have self confidence , because he doesn't want to have a lose on his record.

  • @aldointerstellar

And Pacquiao Improved ALOT ! Compare it to the pacquiao today and Pacquiao from Pacquiao vs Marquez . This Debate is Over when Pacquiao owned marquez by knock out . Mayweather knocked down marquez just 1 time , but Manny Knocked him many times xD and Mayweather didn't even knockdown Mosley , while Manny Knocked him down xD . And Among Manny's Record . No one is Complaining about Manny using steroids xD LMAO dude .

  • @CrucisJon Hearns had a suspect chin, So Manny might be able to catch him with a straight right, but I doubt it. Hearns is simply too big for Manny. The tallest guy Manny has fought is 5'11" Margorito. Hearns is 6'1" with a 6'6" wingspan, and he's a textbook boxer puncher who has devastating one-punch power. Hearns knows how to use his height, theres abosultely no way he would let 5'6" Manny get close enough to do any damage. If Manny exchanges with Hearns it's probably lights out for Manny .

  • @CrucisJon Manny wouldn't last 3 rds against a prime Hearns. Hearns had to much size and reach for Manny. Now Manny vs Prime Durand might be a good fight.

  • @kingq01 Both Fighters are unpredictable with their abilities , like Pacquiao vs Hatton , i thought it would take 8-12 rounds , and i was like WTF ?! when he put Hatton to Sleep. and i asked my uncle about Manny vs Hearns , he said Hearns is too tall for manny . Hearns has the reach advantage . but manny has speed & Power ( correct me if im wrong) . And you are absolutely correct about Manny (Today) vs Duran (Prime) ^_^

  • @CrucisJon Hearns had more power than Manny. Hearns put numerous fighters away with one single shot. Manny has only put one fighter (Hatton) away with a single shot.

  • @kingq01 I'm talking about the Today Pacquiao . But if i'm wrong about that . manny still has the speed . If Hearns is a natural Welterweight ( that's the reason) "maybe" because manny came from a flyweight and hearns started at welterweight if i'm correct .

  • @CrucisJon Fighters are who they are. There's no yesterdays and todays version, unless they are doing something to make them a different person, a fighter is who he is until his skills fade and deminish. Why do people refer to Manny's skills as if they've changed/improved overnight? His fighting style is still the same as 10 years ago.

  • @kingq01 No sir . Compare the Manny vs Morales Fight . To Manny's Previous Fight. Manny always rely on his left hand . now He's Right & Left hand is almost the same in power and he releases more combinations . ofcourse if you always train you'll improve . if your saying his fightng style is still the same as 10 years ago , then if i wer him i wouldn't train cuz there's no improvement :( . im not being a sarcastic guy . but the thing you said no improvement is a bit non-sense ( sorry for my term

  • @CrucisJon Any pro fighter who has reached the 30 fight mark is pretty much set in his fighting ways. He can work on new techniques and adjustments, but he'll usually always resort back to what he does best, or is most comfortable with.

  • @kingq01 out of curiousity know any ways to break bad habbits like your left hook always getting low at the end of fights

  • @vajinater ya get knocked ut...that'll learn ya

  • @kingq01 but if we compare the power of Sugar Ray Leonard & Manny

manny has more power than Sugar Ray Leonard and some experts say that Manny has a stronger punch compare to Duran . And Manny has fast hands ( some claim that manny is faster ) "some people say not me" so it's like . a more faster hands compare to Leonard & More powerful hands compare to duran . I think it can beat Hearns . but both are unpredictable . Hearns has the reach advantage so thats manny's major problem

  • @CrucisJon Manny's hands are not as fast as Sugar Ray Leonards. Ray threw 15 & 16 punch combos. Manny might throw 7 tops.

  • thomas is like a mantis

  • LOL at 1:40 or so Sugar whooping his ass over those ropes! LEGEND!

  • ahahahahah LOOK MOMENT 1:29 HOLY SHIT SUPER COMBO ahah

  • sorry but haggler was the king.

  • thoas hearns é o cara

esse flicker dele é mto eficiente

  • the only thing that seperated these two fighters was heart. and sugar ray had more... anytime hearns got beat it was because the fighter that beat him had more heart then he did. Hagler, Barkley and Ray Leonard all dug deeper. it's real simple

  • @Goodpuncher was Hearns ever beaten on points?

  • @ibizajoey

Hearns was beaten on points by Iran Barkley. First and only time in his career.

  • hagler hearns fight of the decade ?

  • How did Leonard beat Hearns, when Hearns seemed so much stronger?

  • @nicodagger speed and patience.

  • @nicodagger

    Speed.

  • hêhé_ÁÑyóñÉ_wÀñNÀ_chÀt_wîth_mê_Í_féël_sØ_lòNÊly_tôdây┌

  • @BabeioAlexiaaa684 i dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Now thats called a ass whippin lmao

  • LOL it's in korean :3

  • Comment removed

  • @natsoy it's totally korean XD

  • Under today's 12-round championship fight setup Hearns beats Leonard, as evidence by their rematch (which was ridiculously ruled a draw, but everyone knows Hearns won) and this fight, where he was winning after 12.

P.S. Leonard didn't kick Hagler's ass lol. He was all smoke and mirrors in that fight. Hagler landed ALL the meaningful blows in that bout.

  • @Cryofax smoke and mirrors he he he you fuckin know fuckall you cunt. He beat them all no mas, hearns and hagler sugar is the best boxer of them all

  • @bertelliish What are you, 12? Learn English, learn about boxing, then come back and post.

  • @Cryofax what is there to learn you cunt? i just statedm a fact numskull lol lol

  • @bertelliish I'm not sure if you're the world's most brilliant troll, or the biggest dumbshit on earth. Jury still out. Perhaps we need a show of hands.

  • @Cryofax its always the dumb ones like you who think they know it all lol lol leonard is the best you stupid fuckin cunt lol lol

  • 1:27 sugar ray go HAM

  • you can say that again. hearns was a PUSSY! lol

  • @TadRapidly ERM THE SAME HEARNS WHO KO'D UR PUSSY GAY DURAN STUPID CU-NT LOL LOL

  • @bertelliish yeah, well Leonard made them both of 'em look like little girls. Hagler too. He kicked all their asses.

  • Hearns - The Detroit Cobra - a fearsome fighter.

  • what year was this fight? was it before or after sugar

  • This makes todays boxing look so many kinds of lame lmao.

  • In those days I didn't liked Leonard but today I recognize his greatness. Hearns anyway should have a place in the top ten welterweights.

  • thomas hearns wood rain as welterweight champ today for years on end

  • sugar "ray" leonard!

    my favourite boxer!

    woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • At about 4:23. Just never could understand how that overhand right put Hearns in so much trouble. At best, it barely grazed him.

  • @6400az its not about moving the head its about hitting the right spots-chin and right under the ears are "the button".

  • @snwbrderboi03

Yes, precisely. But Leonards' punch did'nt hit any of those spots you mention.

  • @6400az Yea, it almost doesn't even look like it lands but that shows that his legs were already gone at that point. He took was taking some shots for several minutes before that.

  • @IceveinsProductions

So he was probably on his bicycle anyway. And the grazing punch just made it look like it staggered him.

  • Another great leonard fight but Thomas "Hitman" Hearns deserved to be called "Hitman" that dude could really hit like a brick. Unfortunately if you've seen Thomas lately speak, you can see the damaging affects boxing has had on him. When he speaks, he sounds punch drunk, this is caused by brain damage by an accumulation of too many head punches. So sad.

  • @gfine2000 thats crazy yo!

  • imagine, this fight was actually agreed on a hand shake, can you believe that. this is when boxers were real men, and just WANTED to PROVE they were the best, not tell everyone they are the best and avoid the the danger fights.

mayweather claims he was better than leonard, and robinson ever were. believe that and realise you have a single digit IQ.

  • No, I don't deny that. Jones jr. was 10x's faster in his prime, but RJJ lacked fundamental skills to fall back on once he lost speed. RJJ's speed allowed him to be reckless (fighting with his guard down, putting his hands behind his back,etc.). Swollen eye, busted lip, swollen cheeks, and reddened face is the damage. RJJ's record after that fight proved he wasn't the same.

  • @kingq01

bullshit & rumours. Roy did everything right, that's why he was perfect fighting machine.

  • @Piglatinsuperstar Jones jr. did everything a trainer would tell a fighter not to do. RJJ's exceptional speed gave him the ability to be so good fighting incorrectly.

RJJ was far from the perfect fighting machine. You'd have to have a chin with good defense to be that.

  • @kingq01

Roy was so good, he could laugh at the book and do things no other fighter can

his cross is faster than any fighter's jab. roy always beat everyon to the punch. Camacho too, he got that kind of speed

Both camacho N Roy would beat the shit out of Ray. Nunn too

  • @Piglatinsuperstar Well, Roy got beat to the punch vs. Tarver II, so always does not apply.

Camacho landed less than 10% of his jabs, having speed his accuracy should have been better.

neither Jones jr. nor Camacho's legacies amount to Sugar Ray Leonard's, so think what you want.

  • ffs talk about the fight we're actually watching

  • Any poster who posts ABOVE this will, by default (and regardless of content) humbly accept the Genius and Greatness of S R L. and that, if they had argued to the contrary, accept the crown of their own idiocy... feel free to wear it.

  • @marialovesmarvin I posted

  • Good point John, the retard never respond to clear evidence.

I'll keep asking this until he answers :

If RJJ is so great why did RJJ fight Ruiz instead of the real champ Lewis and how is it different from SRL fighting Lalonde ?

  • Hey pig! What's Jones jr's excuse for getting KOed by Glenn Johnson? They are the same age with approx the same amount of fights. Johnson lost countless amounts of fights and sent Jones jr out on a stretcher, and you're calling Jones jr the best ever?

  • @kingq01 Nice try king, but logic is wasted on pig. Despite figting 99% bums his entire career and finally LOSING to bums, Roid is still the best eva !

  • @BringerOfTheTruth Actually, I think pig realizes the truth of SRL's gr8ness. He's just to far gone in his argument to discredit Ray.

What pig doesn't realize is, Norris wouldn't even be a Hall of Famer w/out SRL on his resume. Pig consistently talks about what would've happened if SRL fought fighters who are nobodys, when SRL fought all of the PROVEN gr8ts.

  • @kingq01 I have another clear cut question:

How is RJJ losing to Tarver any different from Ray losing to Norris ? Roid was undefeated for 15 years..but Tarver showed him that he couldnt deal with his accurate punching power (mockery of pig of course).

  • @BringerOfTheTruth Jones jr losing to Tarver is different than Ray losing to Norris, because Tarver is older than Jones jr, Tarver is not a Hall of Famer, and Leonard finished the Norris fight on his feet.

SRL admits he thinks he lost to Hearns in the 2nd fight (although he rocked Hearns several times in the fight. Hearns refused to go down) RJJ won't admit he lost to Tarver in their 1st fight.

  • @kingq01 RJJ won't admit he lost to Tarver in the first fight ? HE cant remember the fight or something LMAO !

  • @BringerOfTheTruth The first Tarver fight, there should have been no controversy. Jones clearly won that fight by at least 3 rounds. The only reason for all the hype was because Tarver was the first person to give Jones a tough fight and actually land on him with any kind of frequency. The move up to heavyweight and then the subsequent move back down to light heavy took way too much out of Jones and he was never the same. But that first fight he dug down and won it clear cut.

  • @bandit7498 Yea i was thinking about the second fight I guess..

  • @bandit7498 Oh yeah. The 2nd fight was a blow out for sure. Prime against prime Jones was better. But he was never the same after the Ruiz fight. His chin completely gave way. Of course he never took big shots before so maybe he never had a good chin to begin with. But he did some great things in the ring and that can't be taken away from him.

  • @bandit7498 i dont think so.i think the lucky punch ko in the 2nd tarver fight hurt jones psychologicly very hard.he wasnt the same fighter after that.he had no competition in his fight before which coudnt make him a tough fighter with strong mentality.

  • @vegetayy That in no way conflicts with what I already said. Fact: Jones wasn't nearly as quick in the first Tarver fight as he was in the Ruiz fight. Even Jones admitted the move up to heavyweight and back down to light heavy so quickly took a lot out of him. But in my opinion the "controversy" of the 1st fight was generated by the media clamoring to see Jones in a real "fight". I say that because in all honesty, if you watch the first Tarver fight< Jones won that fight pretty convincingly.

  • @bandit7498 Jones was beat up badly in the first Tarver fight. I don't know what fight you were watching, but you need to go back and look at Jones' face at the end (it was all busted up). Jones was hit with 13 and 15 punch flurries without a return punch, and hit with 5 and 6 punch combos constantly, but never landing more than 3 shots at a time. Why do you think Tarver was so confident in the 2nd fight?

  • @kingq01 I didn't say Tarver didn't give him a hard fight. But in the 2nd half of the fight he pretty much stopped fighting. You don't judge a fight by how swollen a fighter's eyes are. You have to score on a round by round basis. If you and I fought and you beat the hell out of me in round one and I don't return punches, you win the round. In round two if I stick and move and only land light jabs that don't hurt you, but you don't return fire, I win the round. Jones won the 1st fight clearly

  • @bandit7498 I had it even through 6, Tarver taking 7,8, & 9, so after 9 I had RJJ needing a sweep of 10-12 w/a knockdown to win. The judges were giving rounds to Jones jr. when he was clearly beat. Jones jr. was pinned on the ropes for most of round 9 and they gave him that round. You talk like you had to have seen it dozens of times, so I have to believe that you are RJJ bias.

  • @kingq01 1)No need for bias. The fight was easy to score. I think you may not be talking about the first fight because you say Jone's back was to the ropes for most of round 9. Well, I went back and watched the fight again just to make sure my memory was serving me well. In round 9 with 30 seconds to go Tarver landed ONE straight left. Jones went to the ropes for 6 seconds. Tarver threw a flurry and maybe one shot landed. Jones got off the ropes.

  • @bandit7498 I meant round 8. Jones jr. was pinned.

  • @kingq01 Sorry pal. I did the stopwatch test on round 8 also. I hesitantly gave Tarver round 8 also based on the few flurries that he threw that seemed to stun Jones. But your theory that he kept Jones pinned on the ropes in round 8 doesn't hold up either. By my stopwatch Tarver had Jones against the ropes for a total of 26.76 seconds of the 8th round. Jones was winning round 8 for the most part. But when he was obviously reaching for a breather Tarver threw a few flurries that stole round 8.

  • @bandit7498 i thought it was a very close fight. Imagine if you could have photoshopped jones head onto Tarvers body and vise versa so that the judges thought tarver was jones and vice versa. What would have been the scoring- it would have been a routine one sided shut-out points victory for "jones" Roy was gifted the win and justice was done the second and 3rd times. It looked as if jones was controlling the fight but Tarver ws giving him too much resect. JOnes was really hurt once almost down.

  • @michaelkan1 We're still talking about this? I don't care how "hurt" anyone thinks the man was. You MUST score a fight on a round to round basis and Tarver, though he may have had the opportunity to beat Jones, simply gave to many rounds away by NOT fighting. How is that so hard to see? If Jones controls the pace and pot shots a guy for 2:30 seconds of a round and Tarver flurries a little here and there, and most of the punches in those flurries are blocked, how does Tarver win the round?

  • @bandit7498 i just checked the fight again-you're right. HBO and lederman had it for jones with tarver as the moral victor.

  • @michaelkan1 That's how I saw it. Tarver did something no one had done before and that's give Jones a hard fight. Not to say his fights with Toney and Hopkins weren't tough. But Tarver hurt Jones. It should be noted that Jones took this fight rather quickly after fighting Ruiz at heavyweight and Jones was quite sluggish in this fight. Tarver appeared stronger to me and I do believe he would have beaten Jones had he pressed the action a bit more. Even if he didn't land clean he would've won

  • @kingq01 2)Tarver pressed forward a little bit and Jone's back touched the roppes for another 2 seconds, for a total of 8.53 seconds. (I times it with my stop watch) Round 9 CLEARLY went to Jones. I retract my comment earlier saying Tarver quit fighting the 2nd half. but he just wasn't consistent enough. Jones controlled the pace the whole fight and landed the cleaner shots. I also change my score. 116-112, Jones. I'll go round for round with you if you like.

  • @bandit7498 yes lets go round for round. Do you want to do this url? /watch?v=2g1KsdUAPdE

  • @kingq01 1) I'll just give a quick rundown of my card. Rd 1, Jones. Could have gone either way but Jones controlled the pace and landed cleaner shots. If you wanna give it to Tarver for the flurry go ahead. Rd 2 Tarver clearly. Round 3 Jones clowns a little, so does Tarver and it throws Tarver off, Jones clearly wins 3. Rds 4,5, & 6 Jones takes over as Tarver basically quits fighting. A 5 second flurry of blocked punches here and there doesn't win rounds. 7, clearly Tarver. 8, close but Tarver.

  • @kingq01 2) 9 Jones appeared to get his second wind a bit and won easily. 10, Tarver appeared to sense he was down on the cards and pressed forward a little and wins the round. 11 & 12 clearly goes to Jones. Again, like most of the fight, Tarver only fought in spurts. You can't stand in the middle of the ring and try a pick off punches against one of the fastest fighters ever and flurry for a second or two here and there and expect to win. Jones controlled the pace of the whole fight.

  • @bandit7498 Jones jr. only fought in spurts with NO FLURRIES, never pressing the action, with limited combos, only trying to land sneaky shots. While RJJ tried to act like he was rope-a-doping Tarver, the evidence of the damage he recieved showed on Roy's face. DON'T STICK YOUR TONGUE OUT AFTER GETTING BLASTED.

If Jones jr. & Tarver fought 10 more x's, I believe Tarver would win all 10. RJJ's speed had deteriorated before he fought Tarver, without it he's an average fighter & can't beat Tarver.

  • @kingq01 Let's just agree to disagree. The right man won the fight and Tarver won 2 out of 3, so I don't know what you're complaining about. Fact: Jones controlled the pace of every round and the only rounds Tarver won were the ones he got Jones on the ropes and threw a couple flurries, most of which did zero damage. We'll just end it here by saying it was a good fight, and we don't agree on it. I gave pitch perfect reasons for the way I and the judges saw it. You don't agree so it's pointless.

  • @bandit7498 I agree to disagree, sure! especially after you say "most of which did zero damage." Jones jr's. face was never uglier than it was at the end of that fight, as a matter of fact RJJ was never the same after that fight. So Yeah, you're right, I don't agree and it's pointless.

  • @kingq01 Roy Jones wasn't the same DURING that fight. Jones had slight swelling around his left eye. Where is all this damage you're talking about? Jones was the clear winner and the fact that you can't see that is actually kind of disturbing. And prime against prime Jones whips Tarver like a school kid. Deny that.

  • @kingq01 3) I have to ask though, with 6 scored even, you say Tarver won 7,8, and 9, so Jones would need a sweep of 10-12 AND a knockdown to win, that must mean you scored all of the 1st 5 rounds for Tarver. If that's the case we pretty much have nothing else to talk about because you either don't know how to score a fight or you're perhaps thinking about their 3rd fight which Tarver clearly won. You make it sound like Tarver dominated Jones in that 1st fight and that was no where near the case.

  • @bandit7498 No, like I said I had it even through 6, Jones jr. 57 - Tarver 57. Tarver winning 7, 8, & 9, that puts Tarver ahead by 3 rds. w/3 rds. to go meaning Jones jr. would need to win 10, 11, & 12 w/a 10-8 rd in order to win and not draw.

  • @kingq01

Roy Jones beat that boy. Tarver dont do enough. he dont fight like Roy who knows how to win rounds even when he is in bad shape. Roy weight drained from dropping from heavy. Roy is a real fighter, not have to pick his fights all the time. Roy fear no one. He like Camacho; dominant

  • @Piglatinsuperstar Until Danny Green exposed him (like you say the Hall of Famer Terry Norris did SRL). The difference is SRL went out on his feet, actually winning some rounds. Jones jr. got KNOCKED OUT in the 1st round. So there goes your real fighter.

  • @kingq01 u WISH Ray Leonard go out on his feet

Hector tear him to pieces. Ray never fight multi dimensional fighters w speed.

  • @Piglatinsuperstar Ray (after 6 years of inactivity) went out against Camacho on his feet too (Ref stepped in).

Ray fought 3 of the greatest fighters of all-time, and beat all 3. Roy Jones Jr. has only fought 1 all-time great, B-Hop and went 1-1 against him.

  • @kingq01

Ray was dropped and if the ref hadnt stepped in, Ray Leonard wouldve died on the ropes

  • @Piglatinsuperstar Ray has never stayed on the canvas. Ray has gotten up from every knockdown.

  • @kingq01

I just thank heaven the ref get to hector on time and save that man's life!

  • @kingq01

Roy Jones whip two all time gr8s easily; Hopkins and Toney

those werent even fights but more like workouts for the supremely talanted Jones

Jones never struggle the way Ray do

Hagler was shot. it was like Ali-Holmes or Berbick but hagler still edged Ray

  • @Piglatinsuperstar You keep stating all these opinions; like Toney was an all-time great. There was nothing great about Toney. He was good, but not great. When experts talk about the greatest fighters ever, Toney's name never comes up.

of course Jones Jr. never struggled, he never fought anybody.

  • @kingq01

you just upset cuz Roy beat him so easy.

James whip Nunn but Roy whip Toney like it is childs play

  • @kingq01I've read some of your other posts and it's clear you're a Jones hater. I like Jones but I can be honest too. Tarver COULD have beaten Jones that night as Tarver appeared the stronger of the two, no doubt from the rapid weight loss. But if you gave Tarver rounds 3-6 of that fight like your comment indicates, when Jones CLEARLY won those rounds, then you're just looking for a reason not to give Jones those rounds. We're done here pal. You think Tarver won, I think Jones won. End of story.

  • @bandit7498 I never said I gave rds 3-6 to Tarver, nor does any of my comments indicate such. I said I had it even through 6. I am a boxing fan period. I'm a fan of all good fighters, especially the ones with gifted speed (like Jones jr.). If you go to greatest fighters p4p all-time you'll see I have Jones jr. In the top 10. If you scroll down you'll see I said I'm a RJJ fan.

  • @kingq01 Of all your comments you haven't said anything positive about the man yet. You're denying all the skills the man had. And fact is in his prime he was untouchable. It's not his fault the quality of opposition wasn't up to par. When you rate a fighter all you can do is compare him to his peers if you want to be fair. In his era he dominated. That makes him one of the greatest fighters of his era, hence making him an all time great. His fundamental flaws were exposed only past his prime.

  • @bandit7498

you're right Bandit, Roy was the best and he easily beat the best of his generation. People dontl ike hearing that

  • @Piglatinsuperstar Absolutely. Ring Magazine had the man #1 on their P4P list for 10 years. That doesn't happen by accident.

  • @bandit7498

I consider Roy to be the next Sugar Ray that came after Robinson. With his speed, he could outclass anyone

Roy was also the best body puncher I ever saw. One shot was all it took

  • @Piglatinsuperstar Jones had certain fundamental flaws that were exposed once he was past his prime. But you can't really judge a man past his prime, with the exception of someone like Ali who had his greatest fights past his prime. But at his best Jones had the speed to do things no one else could do. So were they really flaws? Maybe not. Maybe Jones was an innovator and the so called flaws past his prime cannot be held against him. That's the way I see it anyway.

  • @bandit7498 Maybe I haven't said anything positive about Jones Jr., because this is a Leonard-Hearns video.

  • @kingq01 Good excuse, except that you didn't seem to mind bashing the man for about 25 posts so only seemed logical to me that IF you had anything good to say about one of the most popular fighters and the man that stayed #1 on Ring Magazine's P4P list for a decade, you would have done so. How about we just be done with this. You're getting nowhere.

  • @bandit7498 I never bashed the man. I only spoke truth. My posts directed at pig, are examples of how he bashes Sugar Ray. (As if Jones Jr. didn't deteriorate also.) I'm getting nowhere? I never had a point to prove with you. You are the one that is getting nowhere. I thought we agreed to disagree about the RJJ vs. Tarver 1 bout.

    FYI Jones Jr. was #1 on Ring Mags p4p list 3 times 96', 99', & 03' ( not a decade).

  • @kingq01

that dont keep me from praising Jones. Its a free country; u can praise Jones whenever u like

  • @kingq01 WEll my question is more like, why is it OK for RJJ to lose to Tarver but not for SRL to lose to Norris. Since the Norris win per default makes Norris a billion times better than SRL, the Tarver win should make Tarver a billion times better than RJJ. Im just using pigfag logic, strange that he cant apply same logic to ROID jones. Thats makes him nothing more than a fanboy and hater.

  • @kingq01 BUt after i took a second look at the fight i think jones may have done just enough. Or more accurately, tarver too little

  • @kingq01 i couldnt agree more. He actually thinks leonard and duran were "exposed" by Hector Camacho

  • A wet Kleenex can stand up better to abuse than Pig's cockamamie argument.

Talk about a house of cards!

  • Pig thinks Roy is the greatest bodypuncher ever.

The only bodyshot he remembers is the one he hit Virgil HIll with.

All it takes is one shot to make someone the best ever? Yeah I'm sure.

  • @JohnLoCicero

Roy frequently dropped men with body shots. the problem is your lack of knowledge of the fight game and Roy Jones Jr, probably the greatest fighter ever and a true Sugar Ray. Not a slow footed dolt with two left feet like you. Or was that two LEAD feet/

    HAHA I made another funny!

  • @Piglatinsuperstar Ring magazine: Roy never took on the best until he had lost all his skill and it was late."

Piglatinsuperstar: "Roy was the greatest ever."

Pig, take a wild guess on who's appraisal is going to get more respect. On one hand, you have the Bible of Boxing, and on the other you have a schizophrenic dickhead.

  • @JohnLoCicero

Ring was saying Hopkins and Toney were the best so how cum they are contradicting themselves?

Well ugly boy? Got an answer for that?

  • @Piglatinsuperstar Except that Hopkins wasn't anywhere near a top 10 pfp list in 1993 and Toney was weight-drained. Not Roy's fault. He got the win and deserves full credit. So that's one great fighter.

Funny because when Hearns "only" beats 1 great fighter, you say he was a nobody because of that.

Roy beats 1 great fighter and he's the greatest of all time?

And round and round we go on the Piglatinsuperstar "A schizophrenic's View of Boxing." Good stuff.

  • @JohnLoCicero

sorry man I'm going to leave you talking to yourself for awhile. I got better things to do than argue with some idiot loser. Right now my lady is caressing my head with her mouth right now which makes it hard to concentrate on sports

  • @Piglatinsuperstar You mean the porn you rented is getting to a good part?

Just remember Pig, that cable bill at the end of the month is gonna fuck up your SSI budget. You need that money for Pepsi and shit.

Wonder why you say stuff like "my friends and I are here right now" and "I'm ge
