  • Wow...

  • Space and Meaning. You're correct, but there are those who would also argue that this song, and the original have the intent of making the listener feel a 'falling-inwards' sensation'. If anything, Nevermore have simply broadened and amplified this affect. Then again, most of the kids here would never have ever checked in on it if they weren't so cool, smoking their cigarettes, trying to be kids off of South Park. Ah, wait, have I mentioned how incredibly gifted Jeff Loomis is? S C A R Y

  • A perfect performance. I only wish it had been recorded appropriately. But, given the equipment involved, it's utterly legendary. I dare you....to try this at home and arrive at such a conclusion.

  • I only like the work of the singer. This is a metal version. That's all.

Bauhaus makes minimalistic music, everything has its space and meaning.

  • I don't understand why everyone hates when Warrel touches a goth song. He ALWAYS puts more emotion into his singing and the music is ALWAYS more in depth and interesting. It tells more of a story when the music itself isn't so monotonous and bland. And to say it's a "distorted mess" is ass backwards. The bass distortion of the original songs is far more obnoxious and cheap sounding.

  • @twistoffate350 what you call monotonous and bland, I call balanced and atmospheric. When, you say it has more emotion and depth, to me it just sounds like they're trying too hard to make it sound like that. It's a mistake metal bands tend to make, they think a song has to have this sort of glorious, emotive, fast tone to be good, but I think that's somewhat a lack of sensibility and experimentation. But that's just the metal style, some like it, some don't. It's just a matter of taste.

  • @SilentIvo Matter of taste is right. To ME personally, this is one of those cases where I like the medley/cover better than the original songs, and I am a bauhaus fan.

  • @twistoffate350 Well Goth is a cooler chiller kind off music. Bishounen loners with mascara smoking cigarretes while looking gloomy. thats goth! Metal is more passionate. More of a balls to the wall feeling. This is a good cover. But goth is cool. Type O Negative is pretty awesome for example. They kind off mix the cool distance off goth with the passion and power of metal.

  • I prefer this over the original

  • genius

  • This is just an overly distorted mess. The original was way better, and anyone calling the original weak obviously doesn't get it. Just my opinion. Regardless Nevermore is still a talented band, not an easy song to cover.

  • So much better than the origanal... the origanal is weak.

  • how dare a band like this even touch bauhaus. Bauhaus are legends and untouchable no one should even attempt.

  • I don't like, but nevermind eh.

  • is that tim aymar singing? o.O sounds so like him..

  • @23igna its not. its warrel dane.

  • its not bad.

  • I love Bauhaus, and I LOVE Nevermore. It's clear where Warrel got some of his influences. Therefore I fucking love this song, ESPECIALLY the Silent Hedges bit.

  • If you're going to make the cover sound like the original, why would you bother?

  • @R3p0rt4j35 If you dont get the point of what a cover is you shouldnt even bother leaving a comment.

  • going to hell again....

  • Look, these are big shoes to fill. Bauhaus is a great band and these are great songs Nevermore has chosen to cover.

Personally, I think Nevermore did the originals justice. Thank you.

  • Ok. bauhaus are what they are and thats why they made history.

Thats a great cover of silent hedges but still... Bauhaus

  • ... different...

  • well it is a cover so its not supposed to be in Bauhaus' style. Btw i love both versions of the song, but i think Nevermore does a better job at getting the madness aspect in there

  • it's a cover... first learn what that means

  • @bleedingheart344 thats because their covering it, you want to hear the original go listen to the original. dumbass why doesnt anyone understand the point of covers. the point isnt to copy the song, the bands put their style into it. thus a fucking god damn cover. a different perspective on the song.

  • @EinEdward Muy buena respuesta amigo, los cover's los tienes que hacer tuyos, a tu estilo, hacer tuya la canción, no ser una copia fiel de la original!

  • Great cover.

  • they done a bloody gud job ov this, but it sounds weird comming from a metal band

  • **Songs

  • I agree with psychonaut222, I was really cringing about this but they actually managed to do the song some justice, and with an original twist : D!

  • its good to see a newer band doing a cover of some old school goth rock....i love bauhaus

  • I agree with the comments, the cover(s) is surprisingly good!

  • this is awesome

  • He made a great, doomish goth-metal song out of two old school goth classics. I know why I adore Warrel Dane's music.^^

  • Wow... completely unexpected. And really good!

  • Man, I love bauhaus and was dreading hearing this cover.. but it's actually pretty damned cool. He doesn't catch the mood of Peter Murphy all that well, but good none the less.
