Great bikes, much better than the cheaply built Kawasaki which is ancient and slow as well as having an unreliable engine. My only dislike is the weight of the Hyosung which is not a lot lighter than the GT650r. These bikes only cost 3299 gbp in Ireland and are a very good value machine.
any clue if the speedometers for the 250R and 250 are interchangeable? i have a 250R with no speedo/front end due to an accident and want to make it into a naked 250. if i buy a 250 speedo would it be plug and play? what do i need to mount the 250 headlight?
@kiwi1ful the price quoted is obviously for a new bike off the showroom floor (at the time this video was made I might add). It sounds like you've picked up a real bargain.
I've had my 2005 GT250 (not the R model) for close to 2years now and its had no problems at all. Very reliable bikes and very modular (like Lego) parts are interchangeable between the range. The only thing that lets them down in stock form are the Shinko tyres, which although long lasting aren't all that good an all round tyre.
Hands down the kawasaki ninja is a way better bike they have had over 20 years exp in perfecting this bike , all welds are perfect and paint is great ,The hyosung will start to rust after the first week or off the lot in terms of looks the hyosung is nicer and it does have bigger tires but if all you want is looks then go for the hyosung BUT if you want Looks and quality then the Kawasaki is the one.Big differance between China engine and Japan kawa engine
@mickeyblueeyes123 well if we compare Korean car and Chinese car, i put my money on korean. they still in learning process, give em some time and i'm sure they can compete with the japanese soon.
Just brought an 08 model , 2nd hand with 1700 miles on it, showroom condition for £2k,, bikes runs FINE and is the perfect begginers bike if your confident.
Ohhhh lala 2 year compared to 1 year...they give a longer warrantee since theyre scared theyll break. EVEN THO THE POINT OF A LONG WARRANTY IS TO PROVE IT WONT BREAK SINCE THE MANAFACTURER HAS TO PAY FOR REPAIRS i know that im not dumb, hyo is using that to theyre advantage and turning tables on the real point of longer warranty
@crazyidiot101 Hot. I'm coming onto season 4 with mine, and no problems at all. The bike was great to start with, giving me more than enough power. I've dropped it a couple times and there are almost no scratches on it. You will have to replace the battery as the one it comes with will die within the first year, but other than that, the bike is great.
i just bought a 250gtr but once home i noticed the bikes sticker that says 250 or 650 has been removed . how can i make sure its a 250 hyosung and not less or maybe more :)
I bought this bike so I could learn without killing myself. I loved it. People were always asking what is that thing. I had it for a year and rode the crap out of it. It took redlining daily without problems. Great bike to learn on and has enough power to cruise on the freeway at 9000 rpm around 75mph. My bike topped out @ 110 downhill. Great first bike and way cheaper than Ninja 250 which looks like my Mountain bike, skinny tires.
@NINOBROWN917 would very strongly advise you not to get this bike... hyosung are absolute shit..!! bought mine brand new...so many problems mechanically... they may look the best out of the 250's but that it... i had starting problems, electrical problems, brake problems (heard a pop and front brake stopped working) last straw was cam chain timing tensioner went...put a fracture in one of the cyclinders all this withing 3,000 miles!!!... get a jap bike!
@NINOBROWN917 mine was a 2008 model efi ( fuel injected) everything is the same as the bikes now...same engine i believe all they have changed is the rear made it a little smaller and the dash display.. bought mine for £3200 brand new had to throw it at the dealer when i part exchanged it for my zx6r i got now cos he didnt want it! got £1500 for it 1 year later n 3k on the clock! i heard they sold that bike to a bloke n 200 miles dwn the road it had to have a total engine rebuild! hyoshit! lol
@kenzboi alot of people say its not the bike but its the dealership that the comsumer purchases it from. i really dont want to get a ninja 250 as my first bike because i think its too small i heard a sv650 suzuki is cool but it looks ugly.the gsr500 looks o.k. i might take my chances on the hyosung there selling the um vs2 for 3,000 brand new 2009 edition also a 2 year warranty
i might just take a chance maybe i'll get lucky lol
it all about how u maintain ur bike if i give to u a yamaha R1 and never service obviously it will break down and i have Hyo 250 07 naked and it can fly until 177km/h never gives me a problem.
can someone tell me exactly wat the top speed is? because theres alot of videos of the hyo doing over 100mph all the websites say is does like 85, is this right? because i have a honda cbr 125r 59 plate and i can get 85 out of that if i want :D can someone please shed some light on this thanks
Vtrman@23grizzley ...did you ever consider that most riders looking at this bike are new to the scene and on their 'L's ...stop blowing your own horn and ps you are looking stupid
@23Grizzley, I have 5 different friends that brought a Hyosung GT250r, AFTER they had rode mine. They have had there's for 1/2 a year now. But Okay, Here's the thing. They are just like Hyundai or ssangyong, new to the market and bad talk about them, BUT look where they are now. That's why they come with a 2 YEAR warranty, and I haven't seen a Honda or Kawasaki with a 2 year, always seems to be a 1 year. THEY are NEW, OK. But give them a break.
@Jazza40 Hyosung have been making bikes since the 1970s as well as making current engines for Kawasaki and Suzuki. They make very good bikes that are excellent value for money and the engines are very heavily over engineered with the cams etc running on proper bearings.

I have to disagree with some people, I had bought an 09 Hyo Gt 250R, the quality is alot better than what people say, I have to admet, the kawa is a nice bike but it deosnt come close to the hyo in looks and performance, I was going to buy the kawa but i took them both out for a ride and the kawa sounds like a nagging hag and to keep up speed on a freeway you need to keep it past 8k rpm to stay at 100km/h and has no torque compared to the hyo... My 09 hyo runs like a raped ape.
@Condemned580 your hyo will start to fall apart quicker than a kawa though. yes hyo is probably good for awhile, maybe better in looks than a ninja (i own a ninja, im not a pussy defending it Hcore so can admit some of the things on the hyo look meaner) but quality is what matters, detail. reason people choose kawasaki 250r over this is because of quality, and resale value.
No one considers hyosung to be in the same level as kawasaki.
you learn on a 250r and plan to sale it later on, you lose money with hyosung while kawasaki you sell for about the same price you bought it.
