people you can play the game on onlive i just a 30 minute demo and i liked it, graphics are fantasic, its a shame they couldnt make it for a console just tone the graphics down and make it compatible it would be great, its wierd i never heard of kalypso before and im starting to hear it all the time now tropico 4, grand ages lots of things.

Nothing like those.

This game has alot more features, different things, and focuses on city building, and keeping your population happy while killing the barbarians or outsiders.

Age of empires city building features are just a scrape in the armor compared to this games whole thing.

Civilization. No, just no. Two COMPLETELY different genres.

I think you should get into this game if you are interested in the most realistic city managment with a ton of combat.

I was indecisive about getting this game, after hearing bad reviews from big websites. Then I actually played it.

The citybuilding mechanics aren't revolutionary, it's true, but they're solid. What really struck me was the realism. I saw plebs out walking their dogs, getting into arguments, etc. Later, it started raining, and everyone covered their heads and ran indoors. I thought "6.8/10, my eye"

If you love watching your cities grow and come alive as you build them, this is a solid pick. :)

When I played The Settlers Rise of an Empire with the lowest graphics, it still caused me some lag, even though I met the minimum requirements. I have 2.0 GHz AMD Sempron processor. Can't really tell if I could run this game smoothly without enormous lag when it says minimum requirements for Grand Ages are 2.0 GHz Pentium 4 / Athlon processor or better... I'm a noobie at these kind of things, could someone explain to me if that's enough to play this game? :)

Youre not knowing the whole thing, You need to know a few things other than processor. 1.Processor 2.RAM 3.Graphics card 4.Hard drive space 5.If you have software to speed up your PC's performance and how often you use it. I have to give an alternative view here:

Rome: Total War is a fine game but it's a completely different type of game compared to Grand Ages: Rome.

R:TW is primarily a real-time tactical game with a strategy game built on top of it. City building is akin to picking an item off the list and waiting a few turns. Peoples demands are abstracted and simplified.

Grand Ages is a city builder first and foremost.

So it depends on what you're looking for.

Well it depends on your selective interest. If you are into the military side of things, then by far Rome total war is better, but this game is more geared towards economy and city building with limted military gameplay. But I think you should buy both, they are pure excellence in strategy gaming

cool, are the cities in this game more realistic than in total war? do they have like small surrounding towns, farms and empire borders as well?

because i really dont like how theyre laid out in total war, i admit the strategy battles are awsome but the settings are sometimes unrealistic and not to scale, rome was wayyyy bigger than its depicted in TW :-p not being picky both games seem awsome but just curious you know.

In Rome Total War you can build your empire to the same size as the real roman empire was, and even bigger.

@PoppingSanta its okay, i actually bought this game about 9 months ago, however, due to work, school, and some time i spent over in the US, i havent played it at all. but thanks for your answer, and my question was concerned with this game, cities in RTW are like massive forts, surrounded by empty landscapes, very nice, but unrealistic since it is a strategy game not a building game. but since this game is, can cities become enormous? like GTA size?

@jamialonnes There are two reasons buildings burn 1. You don't get them stuff they wan't like food. Lack of food makes Crime and one house of bandits willl burn the others. 2. Building is unused. Also make sure water suply is good or you will get plagues and buildings also could burn.

@TykkPikk make sure you keep them satisfied. like make sure they all have entertainment and religion id start with plebs and once i have enough of the research get a forum, oh and make sure for every 3 houses one is owner of a bakery

the cool thing about this game is, unlike most RTS, this si fun to play even in singleplayer... and even though u can immediately start playing the game quite well, it has so much depth that it can take ages to learn all the stuff in it.... so i think it will be some time before ppl feel safe enough to get on multiplayer for this game

i just saw this on steam...played the demo and dude ,its awesome....i spent hours playing the demo...going to pre-order it like tomarrow or something.

my game crashed one time during the demo.....the game made some weird (and loud) noises and then freezed....but its probably because of my overclock...didnt crash anymore time after that tough.

Have they fixed the lightning strike lag yet? Used to lock up for a second every time thunder struck in the city building version of this game called Imperium Romanum. But other then that the game was excellent!

This game is a totally different game and engine to Imperium. Its just called a sequel. And Yes, It is fixed.
