kick ass cover may i ask on the guitar how did you get the muting noise on the main riff i tried to do it and mute but i cant how do you do it ?

Hi MrBastageicehole. Well It's a left hand muting technique. Muting all strings apart from the one you want to hit, whilst using quite aggressive right hand strumming across all the strings. The note you want should ring clear but the other muted strings just add a percussive "punch" to it. Takes quite a bit of practice but it will come in time. I Don't do tutorials but I get quite a lot of messages about this technique, so if I get time I may post one for this riff. Cheers and Good luck!

Hi jilopoylara. I'm not familiar with that amp, but sure I'll answer any questions re: recording, just drop me a message. As for that main guitar tone If you try setting your amp on a clean setting and slowly increase your gain, you want it so that when you pick aggresively the amp just begins to break up, just on the verge of overdrive.(not distortion). Try using your bridge pickup for the main riff for extra bite. >>>

I would say most of the "tone" you hear is because of the technique John Frusciante uses. Muting any strings you dont need, and hitting the notes you do hard and accurately. I use slightly heavier strings too which helps. I would say the main component to this tone is practicing that muting technique with your left hand letting the individual notes ring clear, and keep a steady up and down rhythm with your right hand.
