BTW, fuck martingale. Use Kelly Criterion, adjust it for a pseudo Optimal f, and then install a stop-loss for a pseudo Secure f. You can convert Kelly to poker stats like ROI, ITM, etc. pretty easily. The best "bankroll management strategies" are just retooled money management and risk management strategies.

Basically the formula is this: f = (bp-q)/b, which is Kelly Criterion, converted to f = p-(1/b - p/b), where f is the fraction of your bankroll you should buy-in for, b is the odds on the bet (b to 1), and p is your ITM%. Your ROI isn't directly involved, although it's part of what you need to figure out your odds on your bet. So, let's say you have 20%ITM, and when you cash it's an average of 6 times your buy-in, so your getting 6 to 1; f=(.20)-(1/6 -.20/6)=6.6%

@butternutts000 This needs to be done separately for every field size, whether 9 players or 180, or whatever the SNG is. All SNGs have different ROI possibilities and SD (standard deviation). I would suggest finding out what your SD is, possibly your CI (Confidence Interval), and finally your RoR (Risk of Ruin). You can set your desired risk, and solve for BankRoll, or use the equation I gave you. Either way, I suggest using both. You may be able to play cash for 400$ a buy-in, and MTTs for 1$.

@butternutts000 And all this is apllicable to cash buy-ins as well, although if you play the full Kelly value for cash, you must get up as soon as you double, as you would be risking too much money otherwise. The place it's least accurate, for me anyway, is MTTs, where the V (variance), and therefore SD is so high. Also the field sizes varying so dramatically (they can be 300 players, or 30,000 players, you never know) makes the odds on your average finish hard to calculate. Hope that helped.

I can understand everyone's complaint, but I think people do not understand the set up to the future episodes. I know everyone wants more poker jokes and insider humor but that would get old real quick and boring. Krantz and team are setting up a bigger storyline, just be patient. I'm disappointed by this one.

Ballz is funny at the start, but random violence in the prision was just crude (and shocking rather than funny).

The appeal to me was/remains the poker and the 3 main characters, though stereotypes, represented a little bit of everyman poker player. In essense a story that could happen to almost anyone in the right circumstances. This episode just ruins that. The humor is from intelligent poker jokes, not dismemberment/slapstick.

Hope next episode is better.

From a story analyst/poker player: Cool, just keep the character's problems and goals poker-related, when you get into escaping from prison, the concept (and thus the unique appeal) tends to get lost. Also, decide how close to reality the show is (whether or not there can be random murders etc) and stay consistent, otherwise it will start to feel like there's no logic, and it starts to seem silly and hard to get into. With the "heads-up for rolls" though the next ep should be back on track.
