@TheNamesWolf The case is what has the camera mount attachment on it. Without either the non-waterproof or water proof case you cannot mount it. (assuming this is a GoPro HD)

Point it up ! I use a sharpie and draw a line where the gopro meets the mount at the right angle so I always get the perfect angle or if you have the money you could always get the lcd backpac !
