  • The patent 821393 was given for Wright glider of 1902 and not for Flyer 1!!!But in USA the first person that flew in a plane havier than air was Glenn Curtiss in 1914.

The engine of flyer 1 had 79Kg without cooler liquid with12HP, and the model was 274Kg with weight limit of 338Kg for takeoff, this give us an relation weight/power of 0,04 HP/Kg. You do not need be engeneer to understand that is impossible make a plane fly in this condition

  • Everybody knows Santos Dumont is The First Plane Inventor. No questions about. Period.

  • @matazap he solved the power to weight ratio that eluded Australian Thomas Hargraves , who other wise invented the Plane.

  • @matazap Dumont's first "official" (FAI) and actual sustained and controlled flight occurred on 13Feb, 1909, but only after he had illegally installed the "patented" technology of the Wright brothers. (USP #821,393). After Dumont showed up with his model 21 Demoiselle at the Aug,1909 Rheims Air Race&Show at Rheims, France, the LCGdeNG (French license holders of the Wright's patents) filed in court on Dumont, Peltrie, Lavasseur, and Bleriot for their blatant violation of their patent license.

  • The first flight was proved in video in 1906(By Santos Dumont) in front of thousands of people, but the Wrights just shown their in 1909...Whats happened!!

  • @sinesiolino Dumont's failed attempt on 12Nov,1906 initially (and mistakenly) called the "first flight" by the FAI. Dumont and all of the other ACdeF members continuously tried, struggled, and failed. Finally, on 8Aug,1908, at LeMans, Wilbur tookoff with his Flyer III "A" and simply flew away, came back and landed near the stunned crowd! One of the FAI officials stated: "..ahhh, so that's how an airplane flies?" Later dumont was brought to court for stealing the wright brothers patent 821393.

  • @sinesiolino A court settlement was agreed between Dumont and the LCGdeNG (French license holders of the Wright's patents) where he promised to retire from aviation activity to avoid imprisonment for illegaly installing the wright brothers invention on his aeroplane. Dumont hanged himself years later after going through many depression as a failed man. His story is far from romantic and many of his supporters in modern age do not know these facts.

  • os brasileiros sabem quem inventou o primeiro avião

  • Uhh! Broken with such a low load!! They're lucky this plane didn't took off! Lerds!

  • kaschton and hallsf: only small-minded cowards as yourselves who have never dared to take on a great challenge the way they did and risk failure, could possibly laugh at what they did. I can guarantee you that Einstein, Edison, Tesla and true giants would never behave like you. I'm glad I don't know you. I hope they figure out what went wrong and finally succeed, I admire the brave.

  • Box kite with a motor. Sweet.

  • hahaha!
