its a wonderful set of pictures and proof. i very much like that someone looks at the numbers. ^^
That was to broad, I only hate People who went against the flag our forefathers created. Also people who started the war. Abraham Lincoln didnt help in some cases. Yet everyone contributed to the starting of the War. Some of my ancestors died from needless conflict amongst americans. Yet Id fight for Indiana, and the North.
The gathering of all the sons of Confederates is happening now. Many are now returning to their Southern Homelands and preparing to finish what our GG grandfathers started.....Believe it!!!
I love it! Though I am from Missouri, my hometown is Nevada, MO, where many of our people were Confederate Guerrilla's- known as the Bushwhackers. I am proud of my heritage!
Doesnt mean you whooped us, the percentage of whites killed in the war is greater in your area, being mostly cotton back then, than it was in the north, so YOU lost more men. Im sorry any war happened but at least look at it in the truth. Both sides were brave, confederates honorably lost more of everything by the end than the yanks. INCLUDING MEN. You wouldve lost even if you had more bullets, not enough food, or supplies in other things so you can laugh all you want.
Because when our country was first made by the 13 colonies stars and stripes, they represented freedom, against the british, you dis- owned us thinking your way was right. Im not saying all the reasons you stood for is wrong, im saying i dont support it though. BUT WE DID WIN. OUR BOYS north and south gave there dear lives in the struggle. WE LOST MORE FROM ATTACKING, AND GOD WAS FOR THE RIGHT. UNION, NOT NORTH, HE WAS FOR PEACE. You confederates tend to show casualties as saying who was better?
After Bull Run, which casualties were almost even, your leaders were to scared to attack anymore except for Jackson. Making a campaign to weaken the enemy more than they would us, which had the opposite effect. So we needed more men. Even if we had more troops which we did, forces were fair, and we slaughtered your brave men at the end. Horrible war. I agree not all of you were racist. A number of you were, so was there people in the north. If you go against the united states you are a traitor.
We were called the Blue Devil's back then because we whooped your troops by 1884-1865. Hence that nickname doesnt hurt anyone up in the north. You southerns tend to focus on youf blood stained banner, yet we had more casualties. WHY?? Well to be honest, you confederates only attacked out of your breastworks at Gettysburg and few others cause you were chicken. We had heads to shoot at you had whole yank bodies. Hence why you killed more honerable yanks than good confederates.
I think people BOTH North and South that want to split up the U.S.A is annoying! We lost HALF A MILLION AMERICANS on a stupid war that all kinds of agressors enjoyed. I pray for peace as long as I live! Except in reenactments! haha.
I have family who lives in 38 states, and many countries. Live in the the real America! County fought county, and neighbor killed neighbor. This was a horrible war, and you seek pride in the self destruction of a nation. I am sadden and weep more than when I held my dead father in my arms. You truly sicken me.
now all you dang yanks shut yer mouths my great great granddaddy was in the was i still got every thing from that war his sbre pistol muxket and his medals from general lee he would shake his head since obamma is the damm president
this video is moronic on so many levels. and yes, you should be more patriotic, its fine to respect and be por-confederate, confederates were american heros in their own way, but its over, and its not going to happen again. the major kinks in our union have pretty much been beaten out.
@lumpinsock1 All the Yanks that came down here loved it except that bastard Sherman. He knew he better run home in hurry. The rest of em we can't get to leave!
....and to go back to the original comment that started this debate. Flags. Why fly the American Flag, under which slavery thrived for 80 years, and yet outlaw the confederate flag, under which slavery struggled for a mere 5? I don't have a problem with either. What needs to be realized, is that northerners and southerners are both American, and even more importantly, they always have been.
Don, I don't need to restate the reasons the civil war was not fought entirely over slavery, it's all on this page. That thought that is was is perhaps the greatest example of biased history. I am not saying it had no impact, it definitely did, but saying the slavery caused it all in light of contrary evidence is simply denial. You give far too much righteousness to the North, and far to much evil to the South. Typical of the victor's history. Please look at my earlier points MSM hasnt addressed
Add the world "entirely" and "all" andI I agree with you. Certainly the non-slave holding men who formed the bulk of both armies had other reasons. The people who made the war were the southern slave holders who were greatly represented in the southern legislatures. The radical slave holders had greatly increased their holdings, and wanted to improve the market for their stock. Restricting slavery from the territories, the platform of the Republicans would have reduced the slave traders' wealth
As for me, half of my family is southern, half is northern. I have ancestors who fought on both sides of the war. I'm not internally biased, though I'm proud of my heritage. Actually the fact that I don't like BBQ, Jesus, or beer would at least separate me from the stereotypical southerner. What I see is a prime example of history being shifted. The victors write it, losers read it. It makes it seem that the North was good, the South evil. In reality, there is no clear-cut distinction like this.
You can't wave both flags pick one or another. The Confederacy gave the American the bloodiest war in its history much bloodier than Sept 11 or even WW2. I am not saying that as anti South I am just saying you can't wave those two flags together like you can't wave a Greek and Turkish Flag together or a Russian and German flag together. The Confederate Flag is undeniably anti American they hated the USA or at least they fought for an army dedicated to its destruction
The Confederate flag isn't anti-american, it's a symbol of southern pride. Blaming the CSA is the same as blaming the USA. The blame lies on both sides, and a case can be made that the confederacy didn't give the USA one of the bloodiest wars, the USA did. Secondly, the confederacy wasn't dedicated to the USA's destruction, it was dedicated to the CSA's independence. If you don't know that, you don't know much about history. I don't proudly display a confederate flag, I'm just stating how it is.
The Confederacy illegally attacked the government and attempted to break off half of the United States. Which probably would have held the whole continent back for centuries. What would have happened in WW1 and 2. The rebellion was carried out for one goal the freedom to use and abuse human beings like they were animals maintain white supremacy and to profit a small fat lazy ruling class
Well you are correct in saying it was definitely for the better that the Union won. However, you're other ideas are founded on popular misconceptions. It is very true that history is writte by the winners, and read by the losers. The civil was wasn't fought specifically over slavery, so much as it was to determine who had the right to determing whether slavery was right or not, among other subjects. States' rights was the ultimate cause.
You are not making much sense sir. You are absoulutely right in saying that the Emancipation Proclamation did not go into effect until after the war started. The slaveowners were afraid that they would lose on the issue of slavery in congress. They were a minority in a democracy that was increasingly uncomfortable with the immorality of slavery. So they attempted to use violence to get their way. The Union was fighting so that all men and women could be free.
Slavery was more of an effect than a cause. like I said before, the Union was initially uninterested in abolishing slavery. The emancipation proclamation was more a strategic move than a moral one. It enlisted black soldiers. Did you know there were blacks who foght for the southern side as well? As I have said before, confederate soldiers were not fighting so their socially superior minority could own slaves. Neither was every union soldier fighting to free the blacks. In that time, few cared
Slavery was an effect. You mean it started after the war. No it started in the 1600s. Despite the arguments of "states rights" the constitution of the Confederacy did not allow any confederate state to ban slavery. States rights was an argument of convenience
No the abolishment of slavery was more an effect than a cause, at least a direct cause. The issue of who has a right to do it is far more realistic. About the election...Imagine if Obama had been left off the voting ballots of every Southern state, yet still won the election. How much strife would that cause? It's the same situation. I've explained my argument, and I know you've responded to some of the points, and I suppose you accept the ones you have not provided a rebuttal for.
As a war time measure, Lincoln had the right to do what he did. The 13th Amendment was constitutional amendment, which supercedes previous limitations on federal power.
Take the South's top 2 generals, Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson. Neither owned slaves, and in fact, Jackson taught blacks to read. If they so believed in the cause of slavery, do you really believe they would have fought so hard for something they personally had no hand in? Especially when Lee was offered a spot as a Union general? Secondly, Abraham Lincoln wasn't even listed on Southern ballots, so when he won the election, the south had every right to be angry and feel they had no say
Robert E Lee owned slaves that is a historic fact. Ever been to his plantation at Arlington. Now the National Cemetary. No serious historian doubts that Robert E Lee owned slaves. Lee himself didn't deny that
I have been there yes, and even if this is true, George Washington owned slaves. You cannot blame a person for failing to rise above the social standards of their time. We can't judge memebers of other epochs on the standards of today. If we did, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and other founding fathers would all be viewed as atrocious human beings. Yet all these people we idolize. If Robert E. Lee owned slaves, then he is no different.
Only a very small portion of southerners owned slaves. Do you really think they would fight so hard for those small few of higher social class. No. They fought for their homes. The emancipation proclamation didn't take effect until the 3rd year of the war. So to say the war was always about slavery is highly erroneous my friend. In case you didn't know, 3 slave holding states remained in the North during the Civil War. What does this lend to your argument of slavery being the cause? Not much
Was the union coming to take away their homes. No. Maybe the Confederate propaganda said so. Unfortunately people can be manipulated to fight wars for false causes.
The south had no representaion, and without that, they had every right to be angry. The fact that they couldn't vote for the winner of the election even if they wanted to was just one such example. Whether war was the right response is up for debate, and the answer is probably no. Yet they had the right to take some action. Was the Union coming to take their homes? No. They were coming to burn them. The one thing I do ask is that you provide some rebuttal to all of the points I raise
Theycould have voted for Lincoln or the Democrat that was running. You can't go starting a war every time you lose an election, more people voted for Lincoln than the other guy its called democracy. All the states get representation based on population in the House and in the Senate the southern states and western states with smaller populations get an advantage
3 democrats ran, splitting the vote. That shows how resistant the southerners were to compromise. Douglas' position that local people could effectively ban slavery by merely not inforcing it was as abhorent to the radical pro slavery forces as Massachusetts abolitionists.
Yeah its suprising they couldn't get behind a candidate yet they were able to raise an army and a government and start a huge war. It also shows that they had a legitimate opportunity to express their political voice. You can't just start a war if you don't like the way an election turns out
Nor am I saying Lincoln was wrong...I've already said how the South didn't start a war just because they didn't like Lincoln. Now...what evidences that they had plenty of opportunity to express their voice? I missed that in your rebuttal
Ok then the Civil War was about slavery not some vague states rights crap. The Confederacy did not gives states within the Confederacy the right to ban slavery so the states rights thing was always jsut a politically convienent argument. It is a testament to the Confederacy how well organized their army and government was there was only one major difference between the Union and the Confederacy slavery.
Well we may have to agree to disagree. I have already stated the, but if you refuse to give them any credence, then that is your choice. I'm not disagreeing with you that slavery played a role in the cause of the Civil War, but you appear to refuse to budge from the position that slavery did i all, even in light of evidence to the contrary. Regardless, I stand by my opinion on how the Civil War should be viewed from today's vantage point
good irish blood flowed to keep us together. the north and the south.. but on st. patty how do we remember them a fucking midget in green. shame on us all.
I think.... if the South didn't have Slavery then i would have wanted them to win.
Also the South would have won if the North hadn't its numbers.
Also... its sad how Robert E. Lee was viewed by the North as he is.. .a symbol of Slavery when he was in my opinion one of the greatest generals in America's and Confederacy's History.
time to raise the first national again the yankee empire is to powerfull again and its time all southern, mid west, western states wake up and stand up and fight get your ammo and guns its going to be a long fight in the future .
I agree I hope we leave you alone and Boeing doesn't move to South Carolina and give badly needed jobs to your impovrished state. We need them here. But South Carolinas got 5 dollar minimum wage and no unions. Guess thats freedom
Guys, whether we like it or not we are all members of the United States. The war happened because of what you guys are advocating. We need to unify, none of this northern or southern shit. We are americans, stop advocating disunity.
Yeah yankees are morons inbreed people who don't care about their country and could care less about their freedom. Not All yankees are unpatriotic but a lot are. Yankees are lazy and some of the yankees don't care about their family. Not
My Daddy lived in the South and imparted much of it onto me. It's tough being a Confederate sympathizer living in New Hampshire. Rebel flags are a semi-common sight on trucks around here believe it or not, but believe me, I've gotten into some heated discussions about my views. I don't care though..all these NASCAR fans around here and such owe a lot more to Dixieland than they'll ever know! Yankee by birth...REBEL BY CHOICE!
If the south rises again, this Yank'll support 'em!
@redneckpride4ever I think the Live Free or Die state was always semi-friendly with the south. Several northern states had to have troops to keep them in the Yankee line. The north was duped by the first big government president ever.
@redneckpride4ever YOU KEEP THE FAITH-----GOOD WORK---BUBBA GOT YOUR BACK YOUNG MAN---THE SOUTH IS MISUNDERSTOOD AND WILL BACK IT TILL THE DAY I DIE---GOOD PEOPLE THERE--SALT OF THE EARTH!!!
@redneckpride4ever tell me bout it man. i live in pennsylvania. but my grandpa was from virginia. and his grandpa and great grandpa were confederate soldiers in the 46th va infantry. and 2 of my great great uncles were virginian confederates
I live in GA and I agree what this video is about we ain't racist, and I love the song "devil came down to GA" doesn't mean he did in real life. So all you stupid people that belive we're racist, don't you come down to the south cause we will knock you into next week.

Robert E Lee owned slaves that is a historic fact. Ever been to his plantation at Arlington. Now the National Cemetary. No serious historian doubts that Robert E Lee owned slaves. Lee himself didn't deny that
TemujinMSM 2 years ago
I have been there yes, and even if this is true, George Washington owned slaves. You cannot blame a person for failing to rise above the social standards of their time. We can't judge memebers of other epochs on the standards of today. If we did, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and other founding fathers would all be viewed as atrocious human beings. Yet all these people we idolize. If Robert E. Lee owned slaves, then he is no different.
Zando24 2 years ago
Just read what Jefferson Davis has to say he was quite clear that the war was about slavery and upholding the rights of slaveowners
TemujinMSM 2 years ago
Only a very small portion of southerners owned slaves. Do you really think they would fight so hard for those small few of higher social class. No. They fought for their homes. The emancipation proclamation didn't take effect until the 3rd year of the war. So to say the war was always about slavery is highly erroneous my friend. In case you didn't know, 3 slave holding states remained in the North during the Civil War. What does this lend to your argument of slavery being the cause? Not much
Zando24 2 years ago
Was the union coming to take away their homes. No. Maybe the Confederate propaganda said so. Unfortunately people can be manipulated to fight wars for false causes.
TemujinMSM 2 years ago
The south had no representaion, and without that, they had every right to be angry. The fact that they couldn't vote for the winner of the election even if they wanted to was just one such example. Whether war was the right response is up for debate, and the answer is probably no. Yet they had the right to take some action. Was the Union coming to take their homes? No. They were coming to burn them. The one thing I do ask is that you provide some rebuttal to all of the points I raise
Zando24 2 years ago
Theycould have voted for Lincoln or the Democrat that was running. You can't go starting a war every time you lose an election, more people voted for Lincoln than the other guy its called democracy. All the states get representation based on population in the House and in the Senate the southern states and western states with smaller populations get an advantage
TemujinMSM 2 years ago
3 democrats ran, splitting the vote. That shows how resistant the southerners were to compromise. Douglas' position that local people could effectively ban slavery by merely not inforcing it was as abhorent to the radical pro slavery forces as Massachusetts abolitionists.
DonMeaker 2 years ago
Yeah its suprising they couldn't get behind a candidate yet they were able to raise an army and a government and start a huge war. It also shows that they had a legitimate opportunity to express their political voice. You can't just start a war if you don't like the way an election turns out
TemujinMSM 2 years ago
Nor am I saying Lincoln was wrong...I've already said how the South didn't start a war just because they didn't like Lincoln. Now...what evidences that they had plenty of opportunity to express their voice? I missed that in your rebuttal
Zando24 2 years ago
Ok then the Civil War was about slavery not some vague states rights crap. The Confederacy did not gives states within the Confederacy the right to ban slavery so the states rights thing was always jsut a politically convienent argument. It is a testament to the Confederacy how well organized their army and government was there was only one major difference between the Union and the Confederacy slavery.
TemujinMSM 2 years ago
Well we may have to agree to disagree. I have already stated the, but if you refuse to give them any credence, then that is your choice. I'm not disagreeing with you that slavery played a role in the cause of the Civil War, but you appear to refuse to budge from the position that slavery did i all, even in light of evidence to the contrary. Regardless, I stand by my opinion on how the Civil War should be viewed from today's vantage point
Zando24 2 years ago
Actually they had plenty of opportunity to express their voice/vote, having the opportunity to vote for Presidential electors in 1860.
DonMeaker 2 years ago
Oh, and about your last comment, they couldn't have voted for Lincoln if they wanted to, that's what I'm saying

good irish blood flowed to keep us together. the north and the south.. but on st. patty how do we remember them a fucking midget in green. shame on us all.

I think.... if the South didn't have Slavery then i would have wanted them to win.
Also the South would have won if the North hadn't its numbers.
Also... its sad how Robert E. Lee was viewed by the North as he is.. .a symbol of Slavery when he was in my opinion one of the greatest generals in America's and Confederacy's History.

Guys, whether we like it or not we are all members of the United States. The war happened because of what you guys are advocating. We need to unify, none of this northern or southern shit. We are americans, stop advocating disunity.
