  • I don't get it. He allows himself to be manipulated like this. A poster boy to show America's enemies that they are the supreme nation in power right now.

Why would he? He could live independently of anyone and anything. Nobody can harm him. What does he care for the American cause or the Russian cause?

  • i want to seee him dance saying " h00ba-h00ba@! habba habba~!!!!" then include that he is an uber smurf somewhere

  • Either that, or he's an incarnation of Vishnu. Or Uber Smurf.

Regardless, Big Blue is maybe the most randy character in comics this side of Lobo. For a guy who manufactured his own endocrine system, you'd figure he'd have more control over his ding dong.

  • Jon Ostermann died when his intrinsic field was removed. The phenomenon called Dr. Manhatten isn't really a person, or even alive - it's a quantum shadow of Dr. Ostermann's extinction, cast infinitely into the future ...

Basically what is left is the final memories of a man, from the vantage of that extreme endpoint in time, reminiscing in his last moment about the shadow he chronologically casts. And like any ghost, he's wistful.

  • You nerd. :D

  • i tend to see him as a human conciousness imprinted upon pure energy. without the limits and attentionspan of a human brain, his conciousness is able to encompass seemingly limitless ammounts of information. he has to conciously create his bodies, while simultaneously maintaining control over them. simultaneously. each following a different train of thoughts in his infinate mind. all copies are aware of the thoughts of all others, they merely interact according to the environment they are in.

  • I say most super hero movies defy physics... up to the point of total retardation.. but since most Americans can't find their country on a map... i'm not surprised movies like taht are popular.

  • Tell me, how many people around the world can find Romania on a map?

  • How many people or how many Romanians? There's a huge difference... You see USA is huge, most important country in the world and the Continent has the same name... Romania is small and placed in Europe's ass, so it's harder to find...

To lighten up... with the destroyed and corrupt education system, Romanians are gonna have the same intellect as Americans.....

  • im romanian

  • What's a Romania?

  • I meant people around the world. Trying to point out the importance of America in the world but apparently you've realized this.

And i know its supposed to be some kind of insult with the dumbing down of Romanians to "American levels" but I know what you're saying and it makes me sad to think about it. :/

P.S thanks for not responding like most people (ESPECIALLY Americans) would lol

  • at least you said most americans

  • ppl say doc manhattan defies physics

he's so awesome with his powers

but most ppl like rorscharch more because he fights with his fists and still looks cool

  • I think the only super hero that stand a small chance is sliver surfer, but even than Dr M would end it very qulickly.

people who think the hulk or superman could are fucking retarted

  • thats true, but silver surfer can absorb, manipulate, restructure and animate matter at will, even transmuting elements, i would say silver surfer has a bigger chance than doctor manhatton

  • Dr. Manhattan can do just about the same things, only on a molucular level. If I'm saying it right. But can the Surfer remove the intrisic field from a being, create life, fore-see his future... etc. Dr. Manhattans power is limitless, n he doesn't require a power source. Silver Surfers power does have limits, n he needs to absorb to gain or heighten power.

  • brother can you tell me where should i watch this movie in HD plz?????

  • If it were available in HD then it wouldn't be hard to find. The only copy available is a Telesync which is not much better than a cam. You'll have to wait until a week or two before the movie comes out on DVD

  • Is the music of the "Manhattan Chapter" inspired or purely taken from Coppola's Koyaanisquatsi? I always felt it amazingly fitting Manhattan's universe and way of thinking...

Awesome graphic novel and movie :) It's my favorite part from both book&film.

  • yeah i thought the same thing!

  • What about the Living Tribunal vs Dr Manhattan.

  • wow...that was cool

  • Why did he brand himself?

  • In the graphic novel he does that as an alternative to wearing a Helmet that some PR ppl want him to wear. The helmet had a flashy looking symbol on it that he found irrelevant.

He drew a Hydrogen atom for some reason I forget (simple and the origin of life perhaps)

  • Oh, I see. Thanks for clearing it up.

  • He drew the hydrogen atom cause it "is something he can respect..."

  • Dr. Manhattan's favorite song?

"I'm blue" by Eiffel 65. da ba dee da ba da ba daba dee daba da daba dee da ba da

  • this movie was fucking weird

  • ok then, captain atom and manhattan are about equal

  • Yeah, only who'd captain atom?

  • what a load of shit.

  • i'm a huge hulk fan. Hulks my favourite character but no way he could take Dr. manhattan.. the only marvel hero who could stand a chance is the silver surfer.. superman gets dead against manhattan

  • Manhattan could turn him into kryptonite

  • ...But the Silver Surfer doesn't have a penis. I find that disconcerting. I never noticed it until after i read Watchmen, i randomly saw the 2nd FF. I was creeped out.

It is more disconcerting to see no penis, than a blue penis, in my opinion.

And anyway, SS drew his power from the board. And the board did not have anything special. No, Dr. M is more powerful, and more manly (Come on! No penis? :D)

  • DR. M = American God

Silver Surfer = Ken, from that Barbie collection dolls thing.

  • Actually Dr.manhattan exerts of tachyons

  • lolwut

  • Yes.

    I agree.

He COULD in fact kill superman instantly,

    with his bare freaking WANG.

  • Dr. Manhattan > Superman

he could kill superman instantly, i mean he as all the powers. Even batman beat up superman when he put on Kryptonite gloves.

  • i just saw the movie but didn't get why he signed himself on the forehead like that???? someone help

  • The government, in trying to turn him into a weapon and a symbol, tried to give him a uniform with the classic atom with the electrons flying around the nucleus in their eliptical paths. He rejected it and decided to give himself a symbol he could respect, thus the hydrogen atom, and burned it into his own forehead.

  • If the symbol can be burned into his forehead then can he be harmed or more, can he be killed?

He should pay for what he did to Rorschach, true justice. Even though Rorschach's only flaw was that he took life when no one has that right, he still stood against the monsters of the world but in life and death there are no exception I suppose.

He was true to the end. Dr. Manhattan's perception of reality was distorted by his own power, that bastard. Ozamandias was blinded by his own arrogance.

  • The only thing that can really harm Dr. Manhattan is himself, apparently.

  • It's ironic because Rorschach, who was psychopathic and murderous (even though it was in the name of justice), was the only true character throughout and never gave in to the corruption and evil of the world

  • You're wrong though. He did give in to corruption by becoming immersed in it. When he saw that little girl's killer, he died inside, and Rorschach was made, born from the hate and killing intent of the evil world itself.

  • Well, him "branding" himself with the atomic symbol for hydrogen didn't hurt him, in fact, very little(if ANYTHING) can harm him.

Well, Dr.Manhattan basically disconnected from people because he was a walking god, so "other people" didn't matter.

Well, Ozymandias INDIRECTLY CAUSED Rorschach's death(as well as murdering the Comedian and killing millions of people).

  • I dont see why people are so pissy about this movie, its not as in depth as the graphic novel get the fuck over it, still a good watch.

Comic fan boys are way to cynical and scrutinize comic based films it such a dissecting way that its pathetic. It has sex, it has violence and great action sequences and the basic premise is the same, just a few things altered.

Does anybody realize how in depth the novel is? And how difficult and complex it would be to translate that into a film?

  • Superman - Kryptonite = Dr Manhattan

  • Actually Dr Manhattan is way more powerful than pussy Superman.

  • Yea, perhaps too powerful.

  • No, I thought it was a good remake, and I'd read the book. Rorschach's performance is worth watching. Can't say the same for Laurie or Veidt (Veidt is too skinny for his character), but I found the movie satisfying.

  • "Gaudy" is the word.

  • is this movie good? i havent seen any reviews yrt so i dont know, it looks good

  • Just saw it. It was great

  • I did help them it was good. Was it as good as the graphic novel? No, but that's a masterpiece. It was a good movie

  • Sometimes masterpieces should be left alone and not exploited in order to make money JUST for the sake of making money. Its fine standing alone. A better idea would've been to make a HBO mini series. Then you could fit everything in there.

  • They're releasing a directors cut in theaters in July. It will be 3 hours and 10 minutes. So there will be a lot of the stuff put back in. And they're releasing a Black Freighter animated DVD to go along with the movie.

  • Adding 25 min into the film still isn't enough. Bad idea to make this a movie.

  • @p8ntballerking007

Don't go see it. For fans, it doesn't allow you to connect with the characters emotionally like in the book, and for non-fans it is marketed as an action movie when it is really a 2hour 45min long boring pile of nothing. So everybody loses. Everything you saw in the trailers and movie spots are all of the action scenes. Buy the book or the motion comic on itunes. You'll have a much better experience.

  • im seeing this movie in I max

  • Gody?

    That's not a word.

  • ....really? He said "gaudy". it's a word. look it up

  • I stand rebuked.

  • I am sure what ever it was he said had a meaning. I don't think he said Gody.

  • If you know the story, this clip will fill your eyes with tears. It is what society defines as tragic.

The destruction of a human, the creation of a God. Eternal lonliness.

It is strange to be known so universally and yet to be so lonely. Albert.E

  • how can i view the full movie online?

    anyone know?

Of course im gonna go see it at the movies anyways, I'm not the rip off the movie industry type. Its just it comes out in like 2 days over here in aus, and i wouldnt be able to see it till that weekend...i honestly dont think i can wait that long!!

  • It hasn't come out yet, there were some pre-screenings in certain areas. Either way wouldn't you rather see it for the first time in theatres? It would be so much better than a blurry, crappy quality vid with terrible quality.

  • I don't know why people's expectations of this movie is to be perfect, and from some people who have already seen the movie say that it wasn't as good as the comic. Well of course the movie won't be as good. No movie can best the book. So I don't see why this movie should be any different.

What I hate about some people who critic it so harshly. Is that they can't just go to enjoy the movie. Whatever.

This is going to be an awesome movie.

  • why is it set in the 80s??

  • the book is set in the 80s, but zack synder said dont read it, it will spoil. i have already so i know much about it.

  • Because that's when the book came out?

What the fuck kind of question is that?

  • Comment removed

  • That doesn't mean shit. Why yould you even have to ask that question? Settings aren't the kind of thing that much thought is put into. If it's based in the 80's than it's based in the 80's. Simple. No reason, it just is.

Also, reading a book this good is NEVER a waste of fucking time.

  • WOW fuking hell i just asked a simple question I know nothing about the comics or books this is the first time ive heard of Watchmen, Thats why i asked that question.

  • this looks fucking awsome.....

Its's set in the 80s. WOOT!

  • i wonder if it shows his penis in the movie it showed it in the book

  • yes it does

  • It does, look it up. There's a reason this movie is rated R

  • The scientist that gave the quote "the superman exists and he is American" was miss quoted by the press he said "God exists and he is an American"

  • well if u look at cinema nowadays God is hard to find. Makes u wonder how they're gonna pull off the Thor movie.

  • He's not a superhero. He's god.

  • whats the movie rated?

  • rated R

  • I love how he burns the symbol for the hydrogen atom on his forehead. In which at this point we see that the character has lost touch with his humanity.

So much so that as a result he burns a mark on his forehead.

Which is significant because the character is interested in quantum mechanics. Smart GN. I'm happy they made it into a movie.

  • He's always flashin his blue dong in the book, I wonder if he will unleash it's terrifying might in the film.

Also I hope there's alot of his Mar's trip in the movie.

  • This guys mad ripped

  • this movie is going to be epic

  • the title of this vid reminds me of my farts

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!

    good one :)

  • lol yea it was the first thing that came to my mind
