Although Georgia gave their Bowl Game game away, I was impressed with State's defense. Gholston is a first round pick after his Junior year. Kid's just amazing. Know the rules. What Lewan is doing there is not a penalty. In fact, it's pretty routine for offensive linemen to hold a player down like that. Punching and attempts to injure another player's neck are penalties though. And he's going to miss the Wisconsin and Nebraska games for them, if not more games past that. It's the neck wrench that is the really bad one. He wasn't even in on the tackle - just jumped on the pile so he could assault a defenseless player.

Face masking a player down during a tackle is a 15 yard penalty. Face masking a QB while he is on the ground with intent to do great bodily harm should be a permanent suspension from the game of football. Also, MSU has not rendered UM irrelevant the last 4 years. We had to change from the success from the prior 10 years. Just like OSU did after Cooper. Our speed experiment did not please the faithful. So we changed. UM is on its way up. #1 Stadium. #1 in money. #1 in recruiting. Actually, still in the Big Ten race with an easy schedule and a nice ranking with an average team.
We can all point fingers but I watched the game again and as a UM fan I did see Gholston pick Drob up twice as a show of good sportsmanship. Know the rules. What Lewan is doing there is not a penalty. In fact, it's pretty routine for offensive linemen to hold a player down like that. Punching and attempts to injure another player's neck are penalties though. And he's going to miss the Wisconsin and Nebraska games for them, if not more games past that. It's the neck wrench that is the really bad one. He wasn't even in on the tackle - just jumped on the pile so he could assault a defenseless player.

We can all point fingers but I watched the game again and as a UM fan I did see Gholston pick Drob up twice as a show of good sportsmanship. I don't like the face mask grab but he was going against Taylor Lewan who is not exactly an angel. Just a game. MSU's defense made the 2 plays that cost us the game. The blitz on the 4th and short and the pick by Isiah (Showboat) Lewis.

What should Lewan get called for? He could have laid on him and would not have been called for anything. Lewan Owned Gholston, Gholston threw a punch because that's all he could do and got busted. Should have been ejected and I wouldn't doubt the Big Ten steps over "zero Tolerance" Dantonio and suspends him

Michigan State is a trash school in a trash town with a football field that was covered with trash the whole game.
Dantonio isn't a class-act coach like Spielman was saying. Gholston tries to injure Robinson then throws a punch at Lewan and he keeps him in the game. At Michigan we hold standards and if that happened Hoke would of yanked him for the game and possibly longer.
Let us not forget the time Dantonio pulled a kid out of jail so he could have him available for the game. MooU is garbage

Yeah. I'm a Michigan fan, but that should have been a facemask call against Lewan. The punch didn't bother me nearly as much as Gholston violently twisting Robinson's neck. Dantonio should bench Gholston. I'd bet money that MSU does a "review" of the situation that takes enough time that a suspension happens for the Minnesota game. Maybe he'll surprise me.

Ok, I'm a die hard Michigan fan and after watching this video about 6 times it's apparent that Lewan had a handfull of facemask helping him keep Gholston pinned down. You can see him release that right hand right about the 6 second mark. I don't think Gholston was retaliating to being pinned down...that happens all the time...he was pissed about the facemask. Lewan played that one real sneaky and got away with it. Gholston reacted and got caught. I don't conde either action or reaction.
