  • I think that most Swedes would associate the name "Liv" with the word for life, which is also "liv". The name has picked up an additional meaning, as it were.

  • Jane, Jake, John, Joe, Mae/May, Mike Liz, Nate, Craig, Kyle [?]

[for boys] Like Kai, Gray, Pierce, LOVE Sage, Cole, Ash, Vaughn <3

[for girls] like Grace, [love Beaty & Beast] [Rose too common] , Hope <3

  • I don't normally like really short names. My name and my mom's name both have 4 syllables, so I would probably give a girl a longer name. I do love short names as middle names though. My favourite for girls would have to be Pearl. For a boy I really like Finn or Fynn, but I can see that becoming super popular. What do you think? Also, I had a great grandpa with the last name Zapp and another with the last name Knox and I thought those might make cool middle names for boys. Whats your opinion????

  • I can't believe your only 23!! What are your favorite names that have English origin, Steph?

  • I know a guy named Beau which is the masculine form of beautiful which can also mean handsom in french... i absoloutley LOVE it...

I used to know a guy named Ashley.. he moved into my town in the middle of the year, and when he came into the class and the teacher introduced him he came to the front and said " My name is Ashley, but Im called Ash.. it sounds more masculine" and he wrote ASH on the board in big letters and underlined it twice and stared at the class.. we called him Ash :p

    GIRL

Tess, Val, Peacb, Storm, Tish, Skye, Faye, Fleur, Faith, Eve

Gayle (I would actually like it as a girl name almost more than a boys!)

Rae (Extremely pretty! Another fav of mine!)

Zeke (Exotic and fun! My english teacher named on of his twins Zeke. His other twins name is Axle.)

  • haha its funny that you like the names Elle and Blair so much and mentioned allthatglitters and juicystar, because those aren't their real names ;)

  • I love one-syllable names for middle names, but longer names for first names.

I love Belle, June, Elle, and Cole.

  • Comment removed

  • Jane and Faye are definitely my favorites - Jude for a boy. :)

  • I was really hoping you could make a list of all boy names that are masculine and not completely popular. I absolutly love girl names and have no trouble in finding one that i like. However, for boy names, I dont know where to start and I don't actually love any boy name I hear other than Kai and Topher but everyone I know doesn't like those names at all. I don't want my son to go around with a name that he might hate to. I need your help!

  • Eve

  • I believe Shay is originally spelled Shea in Gaelic, but it may depend on which kind of Gaelic you speak, Irish, Scottish, or Welsh.

  • Convince your husband to use Vaughn as a middle name!!!

  • Convince your husband to use it as a middle name!

  • Could you make a video of names from the Tudor age?

  • My favorite is June. :-)

    Also Psalm.

I'm pretty sure I had a name list when I was 8 too lol

  • YOUR HUSBAND?!! arent you like, 15??

  • @ohkylieoh Nope I'm 23

  • @AnastasiaRuby Wow, you look young for your age! How old was you when you two got married? I have a boyfriend of 2 1/2 years and we plan to get married one day once we are out of school. :)

  • @nbgurlie I was 20 and my hubby was 19 when we got married...3 years ago this July. We had been together for 3 years.

  • @AnastasiaRuby You got married that young? Wow, I'm 19 now. How long have you been with Jordan before you got married?

  • @AnastasiaRuby you married pretty young, im in 6th grade, and i have my whole life planned out, im not going to get married until im about 23 or 25 and have a child at 26, maybe 25, and i must date for about 2 to 3 years before i get married, oh and my husband must be at least 6 months, to a year older than me ! im very specific.

  • @AnastasiaRuby

Hey Anastasia, I am planning to name my baby "Iyara" what do you think? I am little confused

  • I think my favorite 1 syllable girls name would probably be Claire or Jade. But I don't really like 1 syllable names either and my husband hates both of those. For boys I would probably say Charles... like I said I don't really like 1 syllable names so it's hard to think of any I would actually use...

  • I live 'Vi'...it's a Vietnamese girl's name..my best friend's actually.

    Ah I also like Danni...for a boy.

  • @janeshaga: YES! my favourite!

  • Ya know I was thinking, and I was like..hmm... is "Jewel" really one syllable, but when you say it it is loL!

    :D

  • Blair is soo beautiful,

i think Cruz is great too

    And Sky

  • And Luke XD

  • Claire. Simple yet so nice. I've loved the name since a character named Claire in a sad DS game...

  • I like Ben but it is too short for me.

  • Avah short for Eliavah

  • Olivia isn't TRENDY. Brooklyn, Aiden or Addison are trendy. Olivia has been in the Top 1000 since the 1800's, it's just a lot more popular now.

  • You're right, I meant 'popular'.

  • @AnastasiaRuby Four One Syllable names I like are:

Nym (Not very popular but I think it's pretty and exotic! One of my favs)

Gayle (I would actually like it as a girl name almost more than a boys!)

Rae (Extremely pretty! Another fav of mine!)

Zeke (Exotic and fun! My english teacher named on of his twins Zeke. His other twins name is Axle.) Which of these is your fav?

  • i really love hope....my future baby girl's name lol

  • The scandinavian name "Liv" does come from the Icelandic word "hlif" which means protection, but it's actually much more often associated as the Swedish word for "Life", at least in Sweden. It's a very popular baby name for the moment, it was placed 63rd on the top Swedish baby names in 2009!

I love a lot of English one syllable names (such as Claire & Belle) but you cannot really use them in Sweden because people wouldn't be able to pronounce them correctly, which is a bit sad I think...

  • it's kinda weird to hear Cruz as a name....my mother tongue is Spanish and nobody is named Cruz...or Isla or anything like that :/ it's like you're just taking Spanish words randomly.....

  • @kathia82 its like english-speaking mothers naming their children Apple. haha

  • @Camilley88 yeah or even worse, english-speaking moms naming their daughters "linda"....it means pretty but sometimes the girls aren't O.o....so.....here in my country, Chile, kids make jokes on the "Lindas" and call them "Fea" (ugly)....pretty stupid but it happens.....

  • I like June. :)

  • my middle name is belle : )

  • i love Ava or Leigh for a little girl. =]

  • I like:

    Dave

    Mai (My)

  • I really like:

    Jade

    Jane

    Grace and

    May

  • My favorite 1 syllable name is:

    Claire

    Kate

    Jane

  • omg ived loved june for so long..

  • Ooooh, Blaise. I like that a lot..

    Stealing it : )

  • Liviana is one of my new favorite names!

  • What about Kate or Cate. I think this name is so pretty just by itself

  • Its much more delicate with a 'C', right?

    I love Cate..

  • allthatglitters21 and juicystar07's name aren't really elle and blair though. their real names are lisa and elizabeth, they just use elle and blair as stage names.

  • @omgcrayonz

    Really? Wow...

  • i have been making name lists since i was 10 lol. i would always be running names past my mom and asking her if she liked them and i think she thought i was a bit obsessive thinking of baby names when i was 10.. good to know i wasn't the only one! :)

  • lolz Well I didn't have a name list til 9 so you beat me there lolz

I actually adore Sage for a girl name and Anastasia was the name my Grandma wanted to name me of my mom gave her the choice lolz.

But yeah I realli like Sage and Gwen for a girl . For a boy... I like Cole. I got addicted to that name from Suite life of Zack and Cody. lolz I was gonna use it for a character but ended up switching it with Jasper. ^_^

Thanks for the list! Always enjoy it!

  • I like the name Wes, but I like the name Wesley a lot so I would probably use the full name and then Wes as a nickname would be ok! =)

    Love your videos!

(ps. we've been married about the same time... i got married on 7.14.07!) I have my own name list going and some of your favorites are being added to mine! lol. Don't worry, our kids won't meet... mine will be running around in KY in the US! =)

  • I live in Scandinavia and Liv actually means "life" in Swedish

  • I like "Ray". Short for Raymond, but also a good one silible middle name for a girl

  • Just because you have a one syllable name doesnt mean you wont have a nickname. For example, my name is Grace but everyone calls me Gracie.

  • That's true, but it makes it less likely.
