To the poster of this vid, could you please show me your source of information, because every documentary I have watched or read says that Asiatic Lions are smaller than their African cousins, and by the way, it was National Geographic who said in one episode of their documentary (Hunter Hunted) that African Lions weight 500lbs, in all books I have read about Lions and Tigers the African Lion weights between 450lbs-500lbs, Siberian Tigers weight between 600lbs-700lbs max

Actually, most zoo/ circus elephants , lions, tigers and almost all the other animals are born in captivity. Nevertheless, solowizard is correct because nearly all the elephants and lions in zoos and circuses today were born from parents that were originally from Africa. It's true, Asian Elephants and lions are not as big and beautiful as African Elephants and lions. The only beautiful animals from Asia to me are the Bengal Tigers. Russian Tigers and Leopards are also beautiful.

My uncle is part owner of Brookfield Zoo in Brookfield Illinois just outside of Chicago. African Elephants are the Elephants of choice for nearly all zoos and circuses in the United States. The reason is the exact same reasons you mentioned. You are very smart and obviously you have a lot of knowledge. Asiatic lions as you said are in fact smaller and with a sparse mane, but some have no mane just as you said.

African Lions are much bigger than the almost extinct Asiatic lion. Most Asian male Lions do not have manes either (Lions of Tsavo). And on case you didn't know, the African Elephant is the biggest and most magnificent of all the elephants. The Asian elephant is short, ugly, has a bony back and weird shaped ears. This is the reason nearly all circus lions and elephants are picked fom Africa and not asia.

You don't know your animals. I do. I guarantee you that if you were to call your local zoo, they will tell you that African Elephants are the chosen Elephants because they are bigger, they have large ears and uniform color.

Elephants from India are smaller, have poka-dot skin in some areas of their bodies, a humped bony back and much, much smaller ears.

Well for your information, folks..... A tiger was killed by a lion in a one on one duel in a Korean zoo. It happened earlier this month (December 2008)..... Google search it for confirmation!!!!

well they are 13 feet long, and the heaviest one they ever found in the wild was 900 lbs (but that's not an average) i think the average is around 500-700 lbs, but i cant remember...
