Tiger is a great putter, not a great ball striker. he misses many fairways, gets in trouble a lot. his strength gets him outta trouble and his putter saves his rear.

Hogan is/was and will always be # 1 . He did it all on his own. Tiger had lessons up the gazoo. schooled and re-schooled. he goes sour on his swing all the time. Just watch how pissed he gets when he blows a sshot.

Something cool about Tiger and Hogan....their clues of technique in equipment. Tiger has his footwork pointed out on the bottom of Nike golf shoes with the horseshoes, and when you take an old Hogan Apex Equalizer wedge and put it at address on a flat surface, hold it at address than take the pressure off the shaft (the pressure holding it in place in a rotational sense) it rolls back on the hosel with the grooves remaining level.Level grooves and shaft rotation in relation to plane(LEARNTRAP)

Tiger has SO MUCH ability that it does'nt matter if he misses a fairway.Due to his incredible imagination and stregnth physical and more importantly mental he continues to win despite the old worn out cliches of "you'll never win if you're not good with the driver".Last years WIN in the US OPEN is testament to this.He bunkered his tee shot hit into thick rough with his 2nd then produced an amazing wedge shot followed by a pressure putt of immense proportions!

Tiger is not a great ball striker because his swing is not great, Tiger's swing is good and so is his ball striking. Tiger cannot be compared to Hogan, not even close. Hogan is untouchable, no will ever come close to Hogan. The reason Tiger wins is not because of his ball striking or his mental toughness, Tiger wins because he can putt! Tiger mental toughness and concentration will never be as strong as Hogan's, period.

Agreed totally. Tiger will never be as good as Hogan. Tiger was schooled & re-schooled. he misses lotsa fairways, Tiger has a Reverse C. He has had knee problems and that Reverse C will trouble his back. Tiger can putt epecially when it matters most. Hogan did it all on his own.

Tiger is always complaining about camera shutter noises, give me a break. Where's his concentration, pretty soon he's going to ask people to stop breathing.

At the British Open in 1953, one of the officials apologized to Ben. The official said, "We shouldn't had a train pass by while you were putting." Hogan said, "What train."

Hogan was the greatest concentrator of the golf game as well.

Hogan was the finest ball striker of all time, i honestly feel this is the truth of it. But, how in Gods name can anyone have such a pronounced hip slide motion - and still achieve that massive lag with his hands and wrists? I know it's a stupid question in a sense, rather like asking Leonardo Da Vinci how he painted Mona Lisa. Its the eye of genius, and we can only imagine as we look on in awe!

Well, it's because he is not actually doing what he is describing in the video when he makes his real swing. You will notice that his hips brace and stay back while his arms move backwards and downwards giving him the great lag. His perception of what he is doing does not match what is actually taking place. This instruction is poison. You will hit weak slices if you spin your body this badly at the beginning of the swing.

I didn't mention ball striking either.Look the fact is Tiger has won more majors and pga tour events than Hogan so it doesn't matter even if Hogan was the best ball striker the only record people care about is wins. So if your the sort of person who likes to talk more about what angle the ball left the clubface I feel sorry for you.

Are you aware that Hogan won mostly after a head on collision with a greyhound bus? He almost died. Tiger is a phenomenal specimen, but he certainly isn't playing in anywhere near the same amount of pain that Hogan played in. For majors, well Nicklaus for example had to beat Palmer,Player,Trevino and Watson. Who has Tiger Woods got to beat? Any major Tiger doesn't win, it's a toss up amongst the worlds top 100 to win. No golfer has stepped up--there is no solid #2.  Thanks, have a nice day
