The history channel showed where a lot of the legend came from and who it may have been based upon. So even though the legend maybe from a number of different stories of the time there may have been someone who may have fit some of the profil of King Arthur.

Um, no offense, but it bothers me how everyone is so big on the whole Guinevere and Lancelot relationship. Hey, they didn't get together, and Guinevere and Arthur go better together. Anyway, Arthur is the true hero, not Lancelot. Lancelot said himself that he would have left Guinevere in the prison to die. Arthur saved her.

He just isn't a pompous arrogant piece of crap like Arthur to talk about how great and religious he is constantly. He just shuts up and loses his life for Keira Knightley and the British. Well, that's your opinion. Besides, this movie is not based on legends in literature, but on actual historical events. And Arthur never talks pompously about how great he is. He says that his duty is to his men. He would have died in Lancelot's place any day. Guinevere said that the tales of Arthur were of one who was so selfless that he could not be real.

i agree with willferrelsux... it doesnt matter about where the story came from. It's a story everyone knows. When king Arthur fell in love with Guinevere, legend tells that he "had" to have her. As King he could claim his right and take her as his bride. Though Guinevere liked Arthur as a courageous and kind man she never loved him, she loved Lancelot. This is just what every story, legend, or history of Arthur and his knights says. No matter what the movie says

Sorry to dissapoint you guys who truely believe in Lancelot-Guinevere relationship but it wasnt a part of "original" King Arthur story.Many of the things we now know about it wasnt in it anyway...but this particular one was put in story by a french poet Chrétien de Troyes around 12th century which is many centuries after the story was first told. He did it well tho, he was written a set of five arthurian romances.
