  • This is a great song..... Period!

  • @SgtCrom Calm down dude. He's just trying to help me out here. Furthermore, it was in the context of Akerfeldt, not religion in general. Enjoy the music instead.

  • Opeth is GOD !

  • nice..very nice.....reminds me of "into the Deep" - Quantum Fantay

  • if Les Paul could 'shred' back in the 1940's & 50's, these guys can play whatever they want...and they do it very well!!! amazing...

  • God is God, religion is religion.

  • i love it, like porcupine tree

  • helped the band make the album, but dropped out afterwards. The roots that lead from the tree down "into Hell" represents the band's history and experience with death metal. The sun represents God and how He gives light so the tree (i.e. the band) could flourish. The nine stars in the sky represent the previous nine albums that the band produced. Now, the only missing piece is the burning city, and it could represent the downfall of civilization, but I do not know exactly. Thoughts?

  • @anonymous1461 Thats all pretty accurate apart from the sun does not represent god, Mikael Akerfeldt is faaaaar from a christian. Good work otherwise :)

  • @anonymous1461 I think sun is opposed to opeth, which meaning is city of the moon, while the burning city was just put there meaningless according to mikael!

  • @Grimmjowespada I don't quite understand what your trying to get at, but interesting. And oh yes! I do remember one interview where mikael said "you know, I just woke up one day, and I said 'burning city'. Yes, that should go on there". Hmmm...maybe so. Although I don't quite get why such randomness, for the rest of the cover actually means something...

  • I read this on their website a long time ago (but then they took it down, so my memory is a bit rusty), and this is what the artwork, supposedly, represents: The tree is a reference to the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden, and the line of people symbolizes how everyone wants "a piece" of the band and their influence. The tree's blossoming refers to the band flourishing, with the skulls on the bottom representing the past members of the band. The falling head represents Per Wiberg, who has

Travis Smith? He's the former drummer for Trivium, haha. I think you meant Mikael Akerfeldt. But yeah, I agree. I think Heritage is totally awesome.

  • @deathnightboy Different Travis Smith. He does all of Opeth's album art.

  • @deathnightboy I think U don't get it. Or joking :)

  • @deathnightboy i thought the SAME THING. lol. but, yea, turns out... different guy.

  • I challenge these guys to get happy - simply because life is too short to waste one's youth and strength mourning the unavoidable shortcomings of existence. But I do like their music, when in a sombre mood -

  • People keep bagging on Heritage but really i think what's wrong with it is just the artwork.

  • @muntificator: Love the artwork from the past. Thought the one for "Heritage" was a joke at first, too.. but I own it as a limited Vinyl and I gotta say it's kind of a grower. I actually think it's the best Travis Smith has done so far.

  • @7Anubisss I have the Tour T-Shirt with the cover on it, and I have gotten steady comments on it. All positive.

  • sexy!

  • Ahhhh... This song soothes the soul, a truly astounding work of art. I love Opeth. :3

  • beautiful song, thx for the upload!
