you didnt make you smoke bomb right it should not have exploded if made right and what you were trying to put out in the wood was a chunk fo the smoke bomb and it would not go out because the potassium nitrate is an oxidizer and the extingisher works by smothering the fire (eliminating oxygen)

fire-extinguisher shouldn't really put it out .. it's got it's own oxygen - the mixture does. Sand can make a difference by robbing heat and from the reaction. Water goes along way toward putting out "salt fires". The grass is probably going to grow gangbusters next year as this is basically fertilizer. Good laffs had by all. Thnx for sharing.

Smoke is basically unburned fuel keep it smoldering and NEVER let it have exposed flames. Basically it was just buildling heat to produce the right Fuel/Air mixture

I am a Firefighter and that extinguisher you are using can do double the rated Sq Ft surface area for Saponification. Next time if you have to use a C02 extinguisher, make sure wind is at your back and come in at a 20 to 30 degree angle and stay atleast 10 ft back

Did you actually cook it? Potassium nitrate, sugar and baking soda. It looks like you just put a bunch of powdered potassium nitrate and sugar together in a tube. Also you have to make a big enough hole for the gas to escape. The more fuel the bigger the hole. Try doing more homework next time.
