excuse me, but none of your recipes are real "essential oils", they are just cooking oil infused with the fragance. To make essectial oils you need a still to extract the oils.
really good to know. i was given fresh lavender today from a friend. and i have quite a bit of it. any suggestions with what i can do with it outside of making oils? im quite sure i will end up making some oil however there will be plenty more to work with... any recommendations would be appreciated.
This is an oil infusion using lavender, not lavender essential oil. To call it an essential oil, it should be 100% essential oil, which has to be distilled from lavender.
@nodwayne Yes. This is true. I'm a clinical aromatherapist. Lavender Essential Oil is either the result of steam distilation or maceration. This will just be oil that has the scent of Lavender so it won't have some of the therapeutic properties of the true essential oil. However, for the purposes of pot-pourri or making a fragrance oil which is different to essential oils used with a carrier on the skin, this has a purpose.
Can I use canola oil for making these oils?

Lavender Fragrance oil can be applied to your body, could be used to make candles, use at home, etc

Sunflower oil is better to make infused oils, as it has no scent. Olive oil is no good as it has a scent that will mask your herbs.

@Sunnydaysalwayz isn't she essentially macerating the oil. Distilling the leaves seems like the only way to go to achieve pure lavender oil.
