the data plan is $30 plus whatever your minute plan is. texting does not come with it, you have to pay that separately. so you're looking at $100 a month for a 450 minute call/data plan with unlimited text

@funnyking123 but here is the thing thats is what verizon charges for every smart phone now ur better off paying 99 dollars a month and getting unlimited call data and txt and save yourself the money of buy everything separate....if you havent been to verizon lately every phone they sell now requires a data plan that ranges from 10 dollars to 30 dollars u might be able to get one or two old phones that dont but thats the sacrifice you make when you give your business to a 3G phone company

It really depends on what you want. iPhone is better with web browsing, games, apps, overall media. The Droid is better with communication, and putting services together like gmail, facebook, contacts, etc. All up to you though.

If by compatible w/ a Mac you mean iTunes, then no. Only Apple products are officially compatible w/ iTunes. You can get your tunes from many other places though. I believe that you can do some contact/calendar syncing w/ 3rd-party apps but I don't have a Mac so can't say for sure. No Word pre-installed, but QuickOffice and other office-related apps are available in the Market with just a few taps.

Not pre-installed (a good thing!) as it is a Google Experience phone (Carriers not allowed to modify/add software), but I have a feeling that it will be available in the Market for those who want to download it. There is a "Verizon" tab in the Android Market on the Droid. Currently, it only has the Visual Voicemail app (works great!), but I have a feeling it will include more Verizon apps very soon.

As far as iTunes, only Apple products are officially compatible with iTunes. The Droid has Amazon MP3 Store pre-installed, but you can download your tunes from other sources as well. You can also copy your tunes over right from your computer.

The Droid has the TI OMAP3430 processor like the Pre, but the iPhone 3GS has Samsung S5PC100.

Great comment cellfanatic.  While you are correct, I was referring to the architecture (ARM Cortex-A8) which is shared by all three phones. The Droid and Pre use the TI CPU, and the iPhone uses the Samsung CPU. So while they are not the same, they are born from the same family. I can see how this might confuse some people though, so I'll be sure to clarify this in the full review. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes you're correct, but from what I hear Verizon will be giving the mail-in-rebate in the form of a Debit card that you can use anywhere like a regular card.. think visa gift card. Pretty cool and should mean faster turn-around than checks in the mail!
