Tony Kaye wasin fact the original keyboard player for Yes, and he was with the band when this song was being written and recorded. Wakemen came in later and recorded his parts to replace most of what Kaye had done. Kaye influenced the way this song was arranged. Howe is a master guitarist for certain. However, Trevor puts a lot of emotion and effort into this song and his interpretation of this Howe song which is much more than Howe has ever done with the Rabin material.
@neechee5150 Heart of the Sunrise on the Fragile album was another song Kaye worked on and influenced until leaving the band. Like Roundabout, his parts were re-recorded by Wakeman when Wakeman joined the band in the fall of 1971. It's too bad none of the versions with Kaye have ever surfaced. It would be interesting to hear what they sound like.
This was an interesting phase for Yes. I like when musicians vary from the original version, but Trevor does so too much. He doesn't even play natural harmonics, which are a huge part of this song. Tony is a good keyboardist, but I find him less than capable of playing Rick's stuff.
They do look 80's retarded. And Tony Kaye was never even close to Wakeman. I went to this tour. They played pretty good in Pittsburgh. Then when they came for Big Generator I couldn't believe how bad they performed. It was simply awful.
Kaye shoving his Hammond up Wakeman's absent ass. Jon working out on stage in a gym suit. Chris letting his hair down - no, right up. Rabin doing the only thing he can do better than Howe (playing faster). Alan White dressed up as the BLue Avenger with a 'funny' hairband. YES did really sell out in the eighties. And I don't mean concert halls.
0:51 Love when Trevor, Jon & Chris burst out onto stage front..with Trevor being extra bada**!..(which is very easy for Trevor!) LOL!

i presume that the 90125 era was very fun to YES but it wasn't the best era of the band

Not even close to the original lineup. Almost an abomination. They should have stuck to the 90125 tracks.

By GTR? Come on, Hackett has talked about how Howe just wanted to sell out in that group. And that's why their stint was a short one.

Steve Howe siempre será mejor que Trevor, además qué farol, se siente un dios el tío éste ejecutando el mismo solo que Howe, solo que más gacho.
Steve 4ever.

If you look closely when it shows Chris Squire up close throughout this concert video, you can see what it says on his name tag. It says:
Chris Squire, M.D.
Department of Music

It hard to find footage of Kaye performing Wakeman's material. I'm curious of his interpretation. Kaye is a powerful organist.
