Funny thing is that actually some bowfisherman donate their catch to pet food processing plants, therefore making dog and cat food. I would assume your dogs and cats eat meat and are not strict vegans. So are you going to get rid of your pets now? In this situation, common carp are being killed, which are an invasive species. They do not have natural predators in our waters. Just watch them spawn and you will see how they ruin fish beds of native species, while you watch, shoot them!

We have carp in Washington and they are harmful to the environment. The state has asked for all to be discarded instead of throwing them back when you catch them. They eat vegetation required for other fish and birds to survive.
