MjolnirMan73, I bought this CD because I loved 'Spellbound' but agreee with you the 'Mourning Palace' is so creepy and doomy because of the keyboards. You're right - GOOD metal rules \m/!
The best live performance of Mourning Palace I've ever heard. Reminds how Dimmu Borgir used to be able to come up with great songs every once and a while. It's a shame they've lost all their previous talent on their more recent albums.
what the F are you talking about, losing there talent, they rock so hard! new stuff is just as good, its dimmu, they put it out on an album, their music how can you not respect that
It's just that their newer stuff really doesn't do much to me. I'm definitely not a Dimmu hater, but I feel that the post-EDT albums lack creativity compared to their older albums and have left me mostly bored. Just my opinion, though.
I am from America, and have just recently heard of Dimmu Borgir, and I must say, they are fucking incredibly likable for a black metal band, not to say that I dislike BM;it is one of my favorite styles of music, but it is nice to see a band from Norwiegh with such diversity and color
Black metal is a very complex form of music, you have to 'learn' how to listen to it. Many years ago when I heard BM it was just noice, but as I learne dhow to listen to it, it became my no.1 genre.
I bought this album seven years ago and didn't really like it back then. It all sounded the same to me and just really evil which kind of scared me as it is a really dark sounding album. Now it sounds normal to me, I needed some other bands to ease me towards getting accustomed to it I suppose.
I haven't seen any comments on the technical side of things..... I've noticed that Dimmu Borgir's vocals have improved a lot in the last concerts I've seen, particularly since Stormblast re-issue, they stand closer to the Spiritual Black Dimensions vocals and that's a very good thing, for Shagrath was heading downwards since Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia IMHO. It sounds less ceremonial than EDT and SBD, but still better than PEM and DCA.
why does mustis play this song in a different key now. its supposed to start in F#. it doesnt sound better. still 3:40 and on are great melodic riffs.
I was there =D and the crowd was SICK! I know myself included, when Mustis played those first notes of the song, we all went nuts! I was jumping up and down in the beginning, then slipped into the pit.
I posted two parts of Succubus, I was not able to film the whole song in its entirety, but i posted whatever i was able to record. Look for them under my username.

The keyboards are what make this song fucktacularly awesome. I'm not too in to DB, but this song is easily one of my all time favorites.

The whole band plays a full step lower than before; galder and silenoz play in standard D instead of standard E, since the Stormblast reissue.
