Thanks Adam, I found your vids by accident, but I'm glad I did. I had forgotten how beautiful and cool the bullwhip can be when used by someone who knows how. I saw a master whipman in a circus in Mexico, when I was 12 and was hooked. I got a 12ft steer hide bullwhip for my birthday and got proficient enough at the side-flick and cattleman's to kill flies at will. I haven't done it for years, but think I may just take it up again. @rob3rt45 It's gotta do something, usually to guard the area of the body from the whip. I've been cracking for years but still find my other hand coming up when I'm not doing 2-hand cracking

i'd like to make my own whip but i dont know how to taper the end to go from thick near the handle to thin near the fall, ive looked on youtube and there isnt much instructions on how to do this, could you by any chance make a tutorial on how to do this?

@Ir0nF1st924 you need to lay down layers or bellies of various lengths I made one with a 4 foot core, 6 foot layer, 8 foot layer (thin) and the 8 foot overlay, and of course though you need to drop strands as bernie46 demonstrates in his videos. If your working with leather or something like it... ducttape I suppose then you should taper the stands themselves as well

Brrrrr... i live in rusk co. and as i recall it was damb cold , well like it always is at that time of year. you have to really have a pasion for the whip if your standing in a tee shirt in the COLD like that.

Seems like a few people have been thinking the whip is cracked on the ground.....the crack sound is actually the sonic boom at the end of the whip. That is how the sound is produced, not actually hitting anything.

Same thing too....I never realized on how loud a whip crack is until I tried the Coachman's Crack. Now I use hearing protection when I do the Coachman's Crack.

Hey Adam, cool videos. JMHO, but in the future I think you should try to avoid cracking against the ground as it might confuse some people.

Also, for those using a stock whip the timing is going to be slightly different as the pivot point is further from your hand. Try to use less wrist action, and imagine the joint as your wrist...More as if throwing a knife.

with my stock whip, i can get a nice coachman's crack, but it doesn't really form a loop: it just ends up pointing straight out in front of me while the handle is pointing opposite it.
