I've had linux for about 4 months or so some of the good things are: It's a lot faster, speed doesn't decrease over time, free, open, don't have to worry about viruses as much, fun to surf the web with.
Bad things: every time I start it up it does this glitchy flash of a black screen til I shake the mouse, when I use wine for certain things the screen has a spasm til i exit, doesn't support most programs, ect.
Best thing to do would be a partition with Windows or Mac OS.....exactly what I do.
@Bengycat in all honesty you make/confirm my case perfectly, just look at your words "every time I start it up it does this glitchy flash of a black screen til I shake the mouse, when I use wine for certain things the screen has a spasm til i exit, doesn't support most programs" YEAH RIGHT IN OTHER WORDS FUCK ALL WORKS PROPERLY and I just love the "doesn't support most programs" bit, LOL OMG ROFLMAO
Yes, Linux is not as ready as it should be, as of now, so the users still have the same 2 options, as in the past: to spend more money and less time on Windows, or Mac, or to spend less money, but more time on Linux.
Everything changes, and I think Linux will soon catch up with the needs of the users.
I think the main reason for it is, that it offers freedom, while, if you look around you, there is less and less of it. One thing I know for sure: knowledge is the way to go in this crazy world. :)
I had all the same problems with 4 "distros" of Linux. Why they can't just concentrate on one version and get it right is beyond me.Get it sorted, sell the OS for half the price windows. BJ. UK.
I agree with you about the horrible driver support that most Linux distros have. There are a few glitches here and there that can make you rage but overall depending on your distro of course Linux is amazing. If you get it to work and if you learn the basic command lines you can use your free open source software (which is surprisingly good) to make some pretty neat stuff.
IMO: Linux is bad but windows is the worst. Dunno about macs.
Most laptops are designed with Windows in mind. Driver support sucks for linux because of this. The only reason for this is because Windows is the industry standard, not because it's better. If you really want to split hairs, Macs blow Windows and Linux out of the water in the user friendly department, but Appple uses specific hardware for their OS, and they cost far more. The bottom line is: You get what you pay for.
Linux can be great with a old pc, or a old netbook (like mine),
because sometimes it just can't handle another os.
However, i agree with a lot of your arguments, driver support is shitty, other linux users won't help you when you have a problem and it's also hard to configure if you use a barebone distro.
Hey! We have all been there, my friend. I know how you feel. This is a great video! However, I use Ubuntu Linux version 11.10 and it works great! And I'm not a big computer geek. @jim294 thanks for your comment, glad it works for you & I agree that the only worthwhile distro is Ubuntu or Kubuntu (now that the morons at Gnome didn't keep a touchscreen interface seperate), all of the other distros are for sad people who just want to be "rebels" or "different" even though it means using buggy glitched out garbage.
@TobiasBoon1980 Hey Tobias, sorry, I thought I replied to your comment but I can't see it so just want to say thanks for your comment & I agree with you big time!
Linux has it's place - I use it for web hosting and running my own mail server. But it isn't something that everyone is going to love.....or like. How many people are doing what I just described? Not very many. Contrary to what Linux fanatics will tell you it doesn't really compare very well to a Windows desktop -.in my opinion. What most of the people posting don't understand is that Linux is great for certain purposes - it's just not ready for "prime time" as a Desktop, for most people.
@LinuxReallySucks There's a really good video on youtube titled "Why does desktop Linux suck?" - it's interesting because it's a bunch of Linux developers bitching about the problems with Linux. I mean, even the guy giving the talk says that a Linux desktop has the functionality of a "mid-nineties Windows OS". And I love Linux, but, for IT stuff (web hosting, etc.). i have a friend that treats linux like a god wearing around these linux shirts that say windows is bad, when i hear him talking its mainly about his problems trying to figure something out, i think ill stick to my windows7 for my high power gaming.
@RoachCraft2HD you make a very good point mate. Yes I know a handful of people who use Linux and all they ever do with regards to their computing is "figure out this problem, figure out that problem", most of the Linux users think that they are being so intelligent using the glitched out garbage, when if they actually want to use a pc WITHOUT HAVING TO CONTINUOUSLY THINK ABOUT THE FREAKIN OS ALL THE TIME then they should use a proper one instead. man it just linux hey it not everyone cupper tea i am using arch linux the second most hard os in the world i think why not get the mac if not go back to windows if it does not work out or you can always try unix (freebsd) but i heard that worser then linux
@2111thekiller you said what in essence sums up the linux community, "the hardest os" etc, when you refer to Arch. You see the only fools that use that incredible crap are those who think they are scoring "geek points", they laughably go on about how minimilist and lightweight etc..
Yeah, shame nothing fucking works at all !!! LOL ROFLMAO
actually this is not about how it looks or how many games it runs.
If you're an office employee, architect, politician, etc. definitely windows will be your favorite O.S. windows is better for business and it has the best CAD tools.
OSX has the best design tools. such as video editors, vector drawing tools, etc.
Linux is good for Developers, it has the best dev tools, and lots of "must have" tools for engineers. and yeah, servers.
there are many examples for every OS, but not enough space here
@ZacariasElGrande you're well out of date with the 'Mac for best design tools', that used to be the case back in the 1990's but these days Windows is every bit as good in that field if not better (in view of greater choice of apps). as for Linux being good for developers, it's no better than windows whatsoever, Linux is truly for morons who think they are clever by going back 20 years & typing stupid commands. thks for you comment anyway.
@LinuxReallySucks i'll tell you something: (sorry for my bad english) i have to work as an engineer and developer! and i must use windows and linux, sometimes even OSX. i can't use only one. i design (and build :P) radar tools for the border patrol. mostly U.Vehicles with catapults to launch radar planes. it's not that great. i use Fedora for Coding (mostly drivers for the machinery and a little computer inside of the truck) but i use windows for everything else. for me, both O.S. are great! :)
Linux is not the best development environment. Have to tell you that Windows offers the best ide out there... and it's from microsoft : Visual Studio. As for the "must have" tools, sorry, they're all on windows...
Linux has too many distros, which make it a humongous pain in the ass for developpers, at least professionnal developers. Yea I know I can compile it on my own to make it work, but I doubt my secretary knows how to make/config...
@70rm3n70r retard, Fedora is a seriously crappy distro, probably more buggy & glitched than any other in view of it being the test bed for stupid RedHat........god you Linux people are sooooo stupid. have a good day Tard :-)
@MrKingston96 well done for such a high level deduction. BTW, the word is spelt "heard", perhaps you could try reading a book or something instead of posting semi literate comments which only make you look even more of a dumbass than me............now that's getting pretty dumb :)
So far, all I know is that you know how to say fuck, shit, and well, that's about it. Entertaining, though I don't know what kind of computer you're using that causes oh so many problems as I'm running ubuntu on an acer netbook, and have successfully used the internet as well any web-based app I was using before ever having heard of ubuntu not to mention skype, gimp, etc.
Funny rant there, I enjoyed watching it:-) I have to say that my experience is a bit different however. I find that while GNU/Linux usually installs and works without a hitch, getting Windows to actually work requires surfing the web looking for drivers and stuff. Not to mention reading endless pages of EULA's which basically make you give up all your freedom and rights. The only reason Windows works for most people is that it came with the computer. Try installing a non OEM version.
@andamat yes I agree that it is a pain during installation of windows, but far less so with win 7, and yes you still have to get some 3rd party drivers etc. but at least once installed they all work very properly as does most of the pro software so you don't have to spend half your life thinking about this work around or that fix like you do with Linux.
Linux users always go on about freedom etc. but I think that it is also freedom of choice to be able to choose from loads of 3rd party software
@LinuxReallySucks Actually, I'm pretty sure that the hardware support in the Linux kernel is far more extensive than that of Windows, which relies on 3d party drivers. These days there are a lot of proprietary 3d party drivers available for Linux, but when that's not the case, you can't really blame Linux for Canon not releasing a driver or the hardware specs so someone can make one.
Yes we do value our freedom very highly. Including the freedom to use the software as we please, share it and...
@LinuxReallySucks ...alter it if we so choose. And you certainly have the freedom to choose not to use GNU/Linux at all. I only wanted to point out that while I don't doubt your experience was horrible, mine has been anything but. Also, issues with dual booting usually have more to do with Windows not being designed for it as Microsoft doesn't want you to. If Windows works better for you, then that's what you should use. But I encourage you to give GNU/Linux another chance at some point:-)
You installed Ubuntu, didn't ya'? xD Crappiest Distribution I ever tried and people praise it, never get why since it is the one that breaks with each new upgrade. Canonical never realized yet, if you upgrade one library you got to upgrade all the dependencies, not just pick and choose like they seem t' do.
@MDxm3000 you might have a good point there & thks for your comment. however, one of the most frequently said sentences from Linux users is the ridiculous "try another distro".
Linux is so buggy, so totally glitched out, and even worse are the very major current bugs in the Kernel itself (just Google 'power regression bug' & you will see, if you dont already know)
On top of the low level bugs & garbage comes the desktop environments, Gnome 2.32 wasn't too bad but Gnome 3, Unity, and KDE suck
You should see most of the linux channels here on YT, not one of them actually mentions the major Kernel power regression bugs that can cause a laptop to literally melt with heat or shorten a desktop pcs life to a matter of months due to power consumption increasing by 50% or more thus fans going into overload and all sorts of other crap.
Not into fanboys but at least the Mac & Win7 obes like something that actually works properly without being glitched out to the hills.
@KwiggyOohOoh proof of the stupid Linux communities total denial about their garbage, oh wait a minute, yeah that's right, the Linux community consists of 0.00001% of the mkt, in short, all 3 dozen users worldwide LOL
The Linux community is one of the most stupid, in that, they all go round patting each other on the back for bringing out another latest release of a buggy, glitched out load of amateur crap, ALL THE WHILE, THE ACTUAL UNDERLYING KERNEL HAS MAJOR POWER REGRESSION BUGS SINCE 2.6.38+ which means that power consumption increases by 40%-50% in addition to overheating, fan speed going thru the roof etc.. this is on desktops & laptops.
So if you want your computer to last only a year, put Linux on it
@GleechBiz very good point mate, yes I have read about the shitty Kernel, Linux (or BUGUX as it should be called) just gets worse & worse by the day. On top of this crap they have now come out with Gnome 3 & Unity which basically give you a screen with giant icons the size of Golf balls !!!
Wait im confused is this anti linux or not... you can get everything working on linux but not windows. Also your bitching about putting the wireless info again while using a live cd, how is the cd and the ram your running on gonna store that for you. Im not pro linux or anything but your rant is a lil pro linux to me.
Linux is only as smart as the user. Thats the one problem with giving the user 100% control over the system. I would never reccomend ubuntu if u actually want a good system, i would always do chakra likux which runs on arch (very very fast and much more user friendly plus many less bugs), and for servers debian or redhat (used for years on countless enterprises). I would agree that ubuntu sucks. But that does not mean all linux developers fucked your life and shuvved a shit OS up your ass.
I agree fully that linux sucks, amazing to see the crap the users/fanboys come out with when this crappy os never works on most newish laptops, works with big problems when you have any dedicated gpu or wifi, in short LINUX SUXKS & THE USERS ARE MORONS IN TOTAL DENIAL !!
@BoganKangaroo Yes indeed, you are right. I have never seen so many fools in such total denial, also, don't even think about trying crappy Linux on a Samsung laptop, it wont even recognise the freakin screen backlight, so NO DISPLAY AT ALL!! LOL LOL hahahahah great :-)
EXCELLENT HAHAHA LOL!! as funny as this is it's even more funny how the pathetic linux community blind themselves to the reality of just how buggy & totally glitched out their crappy OS is. I have found that Linux will give you all sorts of problems if you have a dedicated graphics set up + wifi card prob's of all sorts and may other bugs that could short circuit your computer.
PLEASE KEEP THESE EXCELLENT RANT VIDS A COMING !!
IF YOU ARE A STUPID LINUX USER, THEN GET A PROPER OS YOU CHEAP ASS!
@LinuxDoesntWork sorry for long delay in replying to folks here but i have been away from YouTube for a while, thanks for your comment & yes Linux sucks badly indeed

Linux isn't for everybody just geeks and fanatics. Windows is more for average users that like GUIs
Ograws 3 months ago
@Ograws a good point, but dont forget, Linux is for fools who just want to be different at great cost of using glitched out garbage with more bugs than a beehive, merry Christmas
LinuxReallySucks 2 months ago
man it just linux hey it not everyone cupper tea i am using arch linux the second most hard os in the world i think why not get the mac if not go back to windows if it does not work out or you can always try unix (freebsd) but i heard that worser then linux
2111thekiller 3 months ago
@2111thekiller you said what in essence sums up the linux community, "the hardest os" etc, when you refer to Arch. You see the only fools that use that incredible crap are those who think they are scoring "geek points", they laughably go on about how minimilist and lightweight etc..
Yeah, shame nothing fucking works at all !!! LOL ROFLMAO
LinuxReallySucks 2 months ago
actually this is not about how it looks or how many games it runs.
If you're an office employee, architect, politician, etc. definitely windows will be your favorite O.S. windows is better for business and it has the best CAD tools.
OSX has the best design tools. such as video editors, vector drawing tools, etc.
Linux is good for Developers, it has the best dev tools, and lots of "must have" tools for engineers. and yeah, servers.
there are many examples for every OS, but not enough space here
ZacariasElGrande 3 months ago
@ZacariasElGrande you're well out of date with the 'Mac for best design tools', that used to be the case back in the 1990's but these days Windows is every bit as good in that field if not better (in view of greater choice of apps). as for Linux being good for developers, it's no better than windows whatsoever, Linux is truly for morons who think they are clever by going back 20 years & typing stupid commands. thks for you comment anyway.
LinuxReallySucks 3 months ago
@LinuxReallySucks i'll tell you something: (sorry for my bad english) i have to work as an engineer and developer! and i must use windows and linux, sometimes even OSX. i can't use only one. i design (and build :P) radar tools for the border patrol. mostly U.Vehicles with catapults to launch radar planes. it's not that great. i use Fedora for Coding (mostly drivers for the machinery and a little computer inside of the truck) but i use windows for everything else. for me, both O.S. are great! :)
ZacariasElGrande 3 months ago
@ZacariasElGrande thanks for you great comment man
LinuxReallySucks 2 months ago
@ZacariasElGrande Hmm, sorry but...

70rm3n70r 3 months ago
@70rm3n70r retard, Fedora is a seriously crappy distro, probably more buggy & glitched than any other in view of it being the test bed for stupid RedHat........god you Linux people are sooooo stupid. have a good day Tard :-)

@MrKingston96 well done for such a high level deduction. BTW, the word is spelt "heard", perhaps you could try reading a book or something instead of posting semi literate comments which only make you look even more of a dumbass than me............now that's getting pretty dumb :)
LinuxReallySucks 3 months ago
So far, all I know is that you know how to say fuck, shit, and well, that's about it. Entertaining, though I don't know what kind of computer you're using that causes oh so many problems as I'm running ubuntu on an acer netbook, and have successfully used the internet as well any web-based app I was using before ever having heard of ubuntu not to mention skype, gimp, etc.
429video 4 months ago
Funny rant there, I enjoyed watching it:-) I have to say that my experience is a bit different however. I find that while GNU/Linux usually installs and works without a hitch, getting Windows to actually work requires surfing the web looking for drivers and stuff. Not to mention reading endless pages of EULA's which basically make you give up all your freedom and rights. The only reason Windows works for most people is that it came with the computer. Try installing a non OEM version.
andamat 4 months ago
@andamat yes I agree that it is a pain during installation of windows, but far less so with win 7, and yes you still have to get some 3rd party drivers etc. but at least once installed they all work very properly as does most of the pro software so you don't have to spend half your life thinking about this work around or that fix like you do with Linux.
Linux users always go on about freedom etc. but I think that it is also freedom of choice to be able to choose from loads of 3rd party software
LinuxReallySucks 4 months ago
@LinuxReallySucks Actually, I'm pretty sure that the hardware support in the Linux kernel is far more extensive than that of Windows, which relies on 3d party drivers. These days there are a lot of proprietary 3d party drivers available for Linux, but when that's not the case, you can't really blame Linux for Canon not releasing a driver or the hardware specs so someone can make one.
Yes we do value our freedom very highly. Including the freedom to use the software as we please, share it and...
andamat 4 months ago
@LinuxReallySucks ...alter it if we so choose. And you certainly have the freedom to choose not to use GNU/Linux at all. I only wanted to point out that while I don't doubt your experience was horrible, mine has been anything but. Also, issues with dual booting usually have more to do with Windows not being designed for it as Microsoft doesn't want you to. If Windows works better for you, then that's what you should use. But I encourage you to give GNU/Linux another chance at some point:-)
andamat 4 months ago
honestly, i love linux, but this is funny as HELL!!!! XD hahaha
PivotmasterXD257 4 months ago
You installed Ubuntu, didn't ya'? xD Crappiest Distribution I ever tried and people praise it, never get why since it is the one that breaks with each new upgrade. Canonical never realized yet, if you upgrade one library you got to upgrade all the dependencies, not just pick and choose like they seem t' do.
MDxm3000 4 months ago
@MDxm3000 you might have a good point there & thks for your comment. however, one of the most frequently said sentences from Linux users is the ridiculous "try another distro".
Linux is so buggy, so totally glitched out, and even worse are the very major current bugs in the Kernel itself (just Google 'power regression bug' & you will see, if you dont already know)
On top of the low level bugs & garbage comes the desktop environments, Gnome 2.32 wasn't too bad but Gnome 3, Unity, and KDE suck
LinuxReallySucks 4 months ago
You should see most of the linux channels here on YT, not one of them actually mentions the major Kernel power regression bugs that can cause a laptop to literally melt with heat or shorten a desktop pcs life to a matter of months due to power consumption increasing by 50% or more thus fans going into overload and all sorts of other crap.
Not into fanboys but at least the Mac & Win7 obes like something that actually works properly without being glitched out to the hills.
LINUX SUCKS TRULY
KwiggyOohOoh 5 months ago
@KwiggyOohOoh proof of the stupid Linux communities total denial about their garbage, oh wait a minute, yeah that's right, the Linux community consists of 0.00001% of the mkt, in short, all 3 dozen users worldwide LOL
LinuxReallySucks 5 months ago
The Linux community is one of the most stupid, in that, they all go round patting each other on the back for bringing out another latest release of a buggy, glitched out load of amateur crap, ALL THE WHILE, THE ACTUAL UNDERLYING KERNEL HAS MAJOR POWER REGRESSION BUGS SINCE 2.6.38+ which means that power consumption increases by 40%-50% in addition to overheating, fan speed going thru the roof etc.. this is on desktops & laptops.
So if you want your computer to last only a year, put Linux on it
GleechBiz 5 months ago
@GleechBiz very good point mate, yes I have read about the shitty Kernel, Linux (or BUGUX as it should be called) just gets worse & worse by the day. On top of this crap they have now come out with Gnome 3 & Unity which basically give you a screen with giant icons the size of Golf balls !!!
HAHAHA HEHE LOL GREAT FUCKING GUI !!!!!
LinuxReallySucks 5 months ago
Wait im confused is this anti linux or not... you can get everything working on linux but not windows. Also your bitching about putting the wireless info again while using a live cd, how is the cd and the ram your running on gonna store that for you. Im not pro linux or anything but your rant is a lil pro linux to me.
BloodyHazessr 5 months ago
@BloodyHazessr if you think this video is "pro linux" then I would love to know what stuff you've been smoking and can I have some please :-)
LinuxReallySucks 5 months ago
Linux is only as smart as the user. Thats the one problem with giving the user 100% control over the system. I would never reccomend ubuntu if u actually want a good system, i would always do chakra likux which runs on arch (very very fast and much more user friendly plus many less bugs), and for servers debian or redhat (used for years on countless enterprises). I would agree that ubuntu sucks. But that does not mean all linux developers fucked your life and shuvved a shit OS up your ass.
kwrinn67226 6 months ago
Gotta love this hehehe
I agree fully that linux sucks, amazing to see the crap the users/fanboys come out with when this crappy os never works on most newish laptops, works with big problems when you have any dedicated gpu or wifi, in short LINUX SUXKS & THE USERS ARE MORONS IN TOTAL DENIAL !!
LOL..........
Love the vid mate.
BoganKangaroo 6 months ago
@BoganKangaroo Yes indeed, you are right. I have never seen so many fools in such total denial, also, don't even think about trying crappy Linux on a Samsung laptop, it wont even recognise the freakin screen backlight, so NO DISPLAY AT ALL!! LOL LOL hahahahah great :-)
LinuxReallySucks 5 months ago
