Awesome! I'm looking for tutorials on how to make 2D animations in Blender, so if you can upload a tut on this it would be great. And by the way, thanks for your other tuts on the subject! =).
I have a few other requested tutorials im working on also for this type of animation. There are a few ways to do it in blender, is there a particular method you prefer (ie: keyframes, armatures, keyframes+armatures etc). It can go from being extremely simple to highly complex as you have to have what I call the "snapshot" mesh for each standard view of the character. Meaning I create a separate mesh for front, front side, side, side back etc.
@er0c13 but how do you go about switching out each mesh to replace the new one? Like switching a front facing head for a side facing head ect. I've set something up where each head/body image is on different layers and switching the layers with keyframes, but it gets messy with multiple characters in the scene. I've searched high and low but the only answer i got was that i have to use a python script to acheive the results i want. Basically i want to do how they do it in southpark with Maya
@TheWaynelds I made the character turn using mesh key frames. with the face selected you can go into edit mode, set a Basis key, then add a key where you put the vertices to of the front face to a side face position. It's tedious work but it allows for a smooth face turn.
Interesting animation. This might seem like a dumb question, but I've never used Blender... Why does the movement look so much smoother the final time he turns? The nose and eyes look pretty realistic, nice work with that! Check out my channel, I make animations too! :-)
i slowed down the animation key frames at the end of the sequence. Im using this type of animation for cartoon developments with slow motion in some scenes. The slowing it down was to show the motion path of the vertices during the key frame shift from one key to another. .
