Plastic is light and flexible. The hd 25 is a references for the sound quality and durability. The look doesn't matter for a pro. And personally, the look of the hd25 is not bad. And about the P5 from B&W, they are not for pro, they are for rich.

@BIGWHITE514 Couldn't dissagree more. Firstly, I had about houndred headphones, and the most durable ones were plastic. It's mostly about their weight. Metal headphones like Beats solo are too heavy for their construction. Oldest pairs of HD25-1 are still in good condition. They have user replacable parts, but apart from pads there's usually nothing that needs replacement. P5 are nice, but not better. Secondly, plastic doesn't equal plastic. There are polymers, that are stronger than steel.

Obviously a professional with a near-to-unlimited budget would get much better headphones than this (Or, rather, the original HD-25 IIs), but for those on a budget, smaller studios, home setups, or (Like the reason I bought them) for students with extremely tight budgets, they are really the best sound in their price range.

@CodyFund Bass doesn't = quality, it's like saying mega pixels = better photo's, or higher dynamic contrast on TV's = better quality. It's all BS. You want something that's accurate to how the audio engineer wanted it to sound, and if you must have lots of bass then you'll want it to be accurate and clear, not muddy and muffled like you get with Beats. Sennhesier typically go with the natural sound, as in, what you hear is what it is, which is important for DJ's and Studio use and stuff.
