I won't go into analyzing details, but here's a good example of how Zappa was always, and I mean ALWAYS more highly regarded in Europe than in America.

Or, at least he was on a more sophisticated level.

That's not to say there aren't any intelligent American Zappa fans, far from it,

but "over there", the majority of his audiences, seemed to attend his concerts mainly for the sex jokes and to get high on reefers.

Zappa desperately wanted to be appreciated seriously, and he was at home here.
