I find it funny my 2 favorite KISS albums are the ones they dislike the most! Carnival of Souls" had some of the best lyrics and grooves! Dark, heavy and must be played loud! My second favorite is "Music From The Elder". Despite there never was a a movie too coincide with the great story, you can make your own visual to another great movie. Always wondered if that truly was Christopher Plummer in the end. Then again I can listen to the second KISS trilogy any day of the week .(Originals II)

This is a BEST album of KISS, very underrated...Revenge and Carnival of Souls are the best because this is the best line-up, Paul's great all time, Bruce got the best solos, Eric S. is far better than Peter and Gene's voice has changed in the 90's (to better of course)...KISS Rulezzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this album  is more like A Gene Simmons Album then A Kiss Album then again it was Gene Simmons Ideal to make this album a Grunge/ Heavy Metal/Alternative record.This album rock but the old school Kiss Fans hated this album because it was not KISS style album.I always love this album .Jungle And I walk alone are best songs on the album and they were not on 20th century Kiss Vol.3 greatest hits disc.Jungle was hit in 1997and voted best heavy metat song for 1997!

@tristEn93 You don't speak for all of us old school fans. The riffs happen to be very old style KISS that are actually closer to Destroyer and Creatures. The production or lack there of production is VERY raw. There's also some VERY Beatle-esque type of over tones in these recordings. There's also some very classical moments within the music. It was a dark album, BUT it wasn't grunge by any means.

Carnival is right up at the top for KISS- right at the bottom is Unmasked, Psycho(not!) Circus, &(not too!) Crazy Nights, unless of course, you're predilection is for Bubblegum, Panty-rock- then just invert my list!

The 1st six records, Elder, Creatures, Lick It Up & Carnival are their most consistant! They had alot of half albums in the 80's.

Too bad Bruce's outro came on such an unpromoted, unnoticed Classic! People will give it recognition in time!

The Album was good, albeit a bit forced. The "grunge" sound was a bit overdone... No one would have gone for this and theyt knew it! During the 90's a reunion was the only chance for them to make real dough. Sadly, this is the last decent studio album they produced. Long live Kiss! Record another album, guys!

In my opinion this is an interesting KISS album..trying for a different sound..theres some good stuff on it. Watching the video I wish they would just go back to that lineup..I think Bruce got the shaft. Gene and Paul always said it wasnt about the makeup, it was about the music, so maybe its about time to prove it. They were trying to join the grunge scene and go for a darker sound on this album, if it was a record from Maybe Nirvana or Alice in chains it would make more sense, but as a kiss record it's not very good
