Officially, there is not a catogory called "Superkarts" , it is used as a generic term.
250cc twins are Division 1
250cc single cylinder are 250 National
125cc are 125 Open.
I suppose when you have a 250 single cylinder in front of and all over the back of a 250 twin, then I guess that you might call a 250 single a "Superkart".
Number 14 was holding them up around the bends, then fast down the straight so they can't get past, it's a frustrating thing when you're slowed by a twin, anyone that races gearbox karts that's raced a mixed grid will know that! I'm off to get my F1 cr250 out the shed now!!
not many people realise the twins do 0-60 in 3.5 secs and i believe the land speed record for its engine size is held by poul peterson (pvp karts). standing start over a km 171mph. i did short circuit in what was 250 ice 10 years ago no car ive driven comes close to the acceleration.
It's so funny, every time they show on-board camera footage of superkarts, it looks like it's sped up. Combination of the speed, no shocks, and being 1/4 inch off the ground I guess.
great clip. Fun to watch as it was to drive ( i was number 9) The problem Was the twin cylinder kart number 14 was holding us all up. Its heavy so slow in the corners but much faster in a straight line. Was a contentous race becuase they are ordinarily run from the back of the grid to prevent this type of thing from happening.
The next Olympic sport..........I hope.

Funny how $10,000 dollar karts are more exciting than $100,000,000 F1 cars.

@RussellsParadox yeah F1 cars ARE NOT 100 million dude, With the V 10s F1 cars were running about 17-20 mil. A piece.

@SavantGuarde He says in the vid that #14 is twin cylinder.
Even if he didn't say so and just from watching the video everyone in this group appears to be twin cylinder.
They just have sooooo much more ooomph than single cylinder karts they leave them for dead.
Watch as #1 gets nearly alongside him at a corner exit and still can't win the drag down the straight.
I'v watched single cylinder karts match the twins around kart tracks but never on a car circuit, not even in Knockhill, not even close.

Motors TV,
Can you please put up more videos of these kart races? Especially on board clips.

I was marshalling at this, and when one of these broke down i was talking to the driver and he said that these get up to 140mph down craner curbs.
