This is play back for sure. Look the instruments aren't even plugged in, the song sounds exactly like it does on the album, and Manny isn't wearing his head set.
@harlandorman45 That was the norm back then. Fake it on stage on a music video show and who cares how it looks. It seems like T4F weren't the only ones who hated to fake it on stage. DD hated it too. In fact bands back then were forced to fake it on stage but they didn't have much of a choice.
@csrogc63 : Yes, Manny is one very good drummer and definitely under-rated.,just like Curt was under-rated as a bassist. Wish TFF's next gig will include the original lineup of the band...I miss these guys playing together...
This is my absolute favourite TFF song, remember the performance so well, still got it somewhere on VHS. Blast it out as loud as it will go next time you listen to it
@ydiarb this is also my favorite tff song. i have lyrics from it tattooed on my stomach, with a sun/moon under it! i've seen tff Live twice! but have never had the honor of seeing them perform this song. and because it was never a actual hit, i probably never will :-(
Hi codyjarrettsmother if I remember rightly this was on the Wogan show just before Christmas about 23rd December 1985 I remember it vividly as I just the Scenes from the big chair video for myself as a christmas present and then after watching the video this came on the Wogan show in the evening on BBC1. Thanks for posting this video up loved seeing it again.
thank you Jezzy,,,, I just watched the 1983 videos of Switch,, Boy you can see how much they grew in the two yrs. difference, more discipline, control, confidence and melodious!!!! Your beautiful Roland and Curt!
But this was a TV programme and most of the bands had no other option but to mime.
Anyway, look out for live versions of 'The Working Hour' on Scenes from the Big Chair documentary, Live at Hammersmith '83 (In My Mind's Eye gig) and a rare gig in Buenos Aires in 1990 (it is right here on You Tube).
I really enjoy tears for fears, i love roland so nice and cute ;)

I'd forgotten how good this song was. I've unfairly neglected SFTBC since I was child - must dig it out.

It's such a shame they made TFF lip sync.

@jahwangful Yeah that is Manny Elias, his drumming on that album was REALLY awesome. He is underappreciated

@vior4ever That would be breathtaking. Roland, Curt, Ian, Manny, Nicky.. I get excited just thinking about the possibility!
Saw them at Orlando last summer, and it was technically great, but the original lineup is still my favorite.

Whilst this is pretty much my favourite song of all time, it is a little disappointing that they are just miming to the album version...
