If you cut your hair every 6 weeks...your hair will grow two inches in a year based on averages. Just saying, 6 weeks is ridiculous. One should grow 6 inches without a cut in a year. and when you cut it you grow two. Take care of the hair and you won't have that problem. cut hair every 4 to 6 plus months and you'll be fine if you take decent care of your hair.

for a start a few snips into the length will NOT remove all split ends! cheap college scissors like hers will give you split ends quicker as they have serrated blades that fray the ends of the hair slightly, go to the your stylist!!

@2manythings2say0711 Split ends are where the individual hair splits somewhere along its self, it can split multiple times. This is a problem because it will continue up the hair shaft, making it harder to cut over time. They create fly- aways andmake hair harder to grow healthfully. Dead ends are ends that are dry and stringy. All hair is dead, but "dead ends" are the fried looking and feeling parts of hair that lack luster, shine and health. :)

@26dazzle I know i'm kinda late but i don't think anyone got back to you. Shy away from craft scissors, meat scissors or types of that nature. If you have 8-12 dollars handy, you can buy some drugstore hair cutting scissors, it really makes a great difference. If not, use SHARP scissors, blunt scissors may cause split ends/won't even cut through your hair as it should. :) Hope I helped.
