  • I liked it.

  • Buenísimo! Gracias por compartir esta excelente versión, son difíciles de conseguir en la web

  • could someone pass me the sheet music for this concert? I don't find it anywhere

    : S pleasee!

  • @Lolitacore have you tried IMSLP? it has all public domain sheet music for free.. i believe this should be public domain because it's handel

  • @iscan000 IMSLP is the greatest thing in the history of the world

  • en Acordeon es genial .!

  • i love how he approaches each note with such a deliberate intention, he knows what hes playing, why he playing it , and how to do it. he takes each in and hammers it without a sign of assuredness

  • Playing this for an audition at The Crane School of Music next week.

Its amazing how musical primrose can make this sound at such a fast tempo... I mean, I can play it this fast but... not with all his bells and whistles :P

I perform it quite a bit slower, as do most violists.

  • I really want to get a recording of this on my ipod =(, not sure where to get it though someone please help

  • @Kitsurugi You can always try a youtube downloader. I can link one to you if you want.

  • my solo this year. hopefully i'll master the treble clef by the end of this solo xD

  • I had the honour of studying with Primrose at I.U.

  • why did we ever bother with period instruments? this is much better!

  • This piece is wonderful! Difficult of course due to all of the treble clef...but very fun and interesting.

  • learning this right now and i love this piece. Can't wait to play for this contest.

  • i love how this piece just chug chug chug chug chugs along with small wonders that are like flowers trying to push their way through the earth

  • AWESOM!!! Im learning this peice for my Grade Eight Exam ATM>>

  • Absolute, thanks for the fantastic post. Brings back memories of my childhood when I played viola. My father bought Zukerman's Viola concerto album for me when I was in 5th grade. Just loved it. I have always been an ardent admirer of Primrose. Thanks again.

  • This is amazing! I'm a total orch dork and just found out about William Primrose and how awesome he is. This song has quickly become one of my favorie classical pieces. Thanks for uploading it!

  • violas ftw! look up roberto diaz viola

  • roberto diaz has Primrose's viola now, yet Primrose plays with such tremendous force no one in mainstream classic music has played

  • One of the greatest viola players who ever lived

  • bien esta forma de tocar handel me gusta mas asi que como la toca rudolf barshai

  • THANK YOU for posting this !

  • i respect this man so much

  • does anyone notice how he clips some of the rhythms in the beginning? it's too catchy not to do it having this recording in my ears for so long hahah love the man

  • For people complaining about the tempo, I believe he did it faster because back then they were using 78rpm records that could only hold a couple of minutes.

  • About the title: It's believed that Casadesus wrote this piece, but realizing that his work wouldn't be taken seriously, put Handel's name on it to make it a success. He's done this on other pieces as well, so the next time you see the author as Handel/Casadesus, it's not that they wrote it together, but rather that Casadesus used Handel's name. I recently played this without harmony for a state audition which I was admitted. One of my favorite pieces for sure.

  • I included that bit of info in the description when I first posted this video, but thanks for informing everyone who didn't read it lol

  • Ana?

  • @WatcherofTrends

he also did this for the "JC Bach" viola concerto.

  • @WatcherofTrends Yes thats very true. The entire Casadesus family made fakery into a cottage industry. Apparently Henri Casadesus claimed to have come by Handel's original composition, just as he did the Bach one, and that he had "completed" these pieces. Surprisingly, Casadesus could never produce any solid evidence of them. Performers like Primrose, Menuhin, and Heifetz recorded them under Bach and Handel until the 1970's when music experts determined Casadesus to be the composer.

  • Not only can he do it magically at this tempo, but with ornaments and frills. The sweeping beauty and tension build up is just so much more satisfying. This is the Man.

  • this piece is sooo fun to play

  • The tempo is great, slower would turn it sloppy, like some Bach E major violin concerto old recordings ( milstein, Oistrak, for example ) listen to Kremer's concept on this concerto and you will see what i mean. Some one PLEASE tell me where i can get the orchestral parts and score of this Casadesus concert?

  • ...Bello andare a cazzi propri!!!

  • Primrose has technique to spare. This piece is beyond him. He's a master...that's why he's able to pull it off with this tempo...I,on the other hand, must play it a bit slower:( it's still beautiful!!!

  • personally, i love it in this tempo! since when does beauty go away when you play a piece quickly?

  • Finally, someone who understands the way I think lol

  • It's hilarious that people thought it was actually by Handel. You hear a lot of Handel these days and it's quite clear this isn't written by any Baroque composer. It's a nice pastiche however.

  • This speed is a thriller but i lkke the slower william primrose did its shows off more of the song better no shade lamo

  • Well, I suppose it's your opinion, but you should open your mind to other tempo choices. I think Henri Casadesus would've been thrilled to have heard this concerto performed at this tempo

  • Says who?

  • this man plays everything fast

    I don't like him

  • I love him.

  • i love william primrose

  • great musicians..!!! Thank you for posting

  • I listened on YouTube Rudolf Barshai's version, i liked it more

  • Great playing, but too fast.

  • this concert is in this tempo man

  • Wow!

    Now this is incredible!

  • yess thank you!!

  • Thanks! I just learned this concerto. I love this interpretation.
