@tiakpark The people on the internet and at protests/riots (same people) are not anarchists, they are trying to stay anonymous, as well as saying that the people that are with them are failing. The mask is widely used on the internet to show failure in others, because Fawkes failed at his plot. He's not considered a hero, he is burned every November the 5th as a remembrance of the failure of Fawkes and the success of the nobility.
@thanosofdeath That's interesting, but I'm still not sure I understand. I once saw a group of protesters standing outside my bank. They were all wearing Guy Fawkes masks and holding signs saying, "Your filthy money needs you!" I guess it was a peaceful protest, even if their rhetoric was alienating everyone who went into the bank.
Are they posing as martyers for their so-called "failures?" Sorry, I just don't get it, but thanks for explaining.
@tiakpark I don't know about the situation you are talking about, but most of the time, the mask is for anonymity and to show that the people they are talking to/the people who they are with (like a protest where there are lots fo people, only a few wearing the masks.) It could also mean that "what the people wearing masks are doing" is going to be a fail.
@thanosofdeath So they're reveling in failure....seems nihilstic, but that doesn't suprise me. People get off on posing as tragic figures but it's self-serving and conceited, like all acts of protests.
@tiakpark The people who wear the Guy Fawkes masks are known as "Anonymous". Seriously. It's like a massive online organisation that doesn't have a leader, they arrange to meet at certain places to protest and hand out leaflets (I came across them once in Edinburgh). They generally protest against corrupt systems and try to hack (usually successfully) sites owned by systems that they despise, such as the Church of Scientology's site.
@UsagiDreamsReturns I looked them up on Wikipeida. They seem either like ass-holes doing what they do for kicks or just self-righteous anarchists. I don't like Christianity or Sceintology either but I don't think that gives me the right to bully them. In fact, I'd say these people are more in keeping with St. Paul's original mission than most Christians, I.E. they want to "Reduce to nothing those that are something," St Paul 1 Corinthians i. 20.
@tiakpark I didn't say I didn't like Christianity or Scientology :) But I understand where you're coming from on that score. In all honesty, my opinion is that bad organisations that brainwash people should be destroyed. I personally think the Church of Scientology is one of those, when you read about it.
@UsagiDreamsReturns It's okay, I wasn't saying that you didn't like them either...or whatever. It doesn't matter. The point is, these Anon wackos are no different than anyone else. Self-righteous goons who like to bully people.
but he wasnt hung, drawn and quartered. he climbed up the entire scaffold and jumped off, landing on his head and died instantly, hence avoiding the horrible pain of being hung, drawn and quartered.
So we're just supposed to roll 36 barrels of gun powder down the Themes, sneak it into this rented cellar, wait for Parliment to open then I creep back in,Light the fuse run away and blow up the king and all without getting caught?
You know when your parents find this funnier than you do? XD Watching Horrible Histories is a family event in our house even though we outgrew CBBC YEARS ago! XD
every1s lik im 16 and i lik this is this normal? well heres my answer my mum hates these shows and dad doesnt laugh but they started 2 watch horrible histories mum nd dad laughed louder than us kids!!!!
@sylraiana I'm 27, and this cracks me up no end. And don't worry, articles on IMDB show that this show has a massive following among adults as well as kids.
But then, alot of kids shows gain massive followings among kids and adults, ie Animaniacs, Batman Animated series, Tiny Toons, Pinky and The Brain, and one could include Harry Potter here too (although not a TV show).
@yellowcougar18 Adults watch "Animaniacs, Batman Animated series, Tiny Toons, Pinky and The Brain"?? I think you might want to reconsider that statement you are probably one of the few adults that watches that stuff. I do know that some adults get into the Harry Potter stuff which I never understood, seems really strange to me.
Ignor me, found it, series one episode 11 incase you were wondering (Bonfire Safety Tips with Guy Fawkes) and it was Mat and Ben, I know how precise some of you like to be.
Did I imagine the scene in the prison when Jim says words to the effect of "give us the names" and Mathew replys along the lines of no, Jim then retorts "not even the one who wrote the letter, to which Mathew says "ooh yes you can have him".
I found this hilarious. I've always loved Guy Fawkes' Night

@WorshipInTruth I can point you to the newsgroups where adults discuss these shows, and how much they are fans of them.
And those adults are mostly married with kids. So they get an extra excuse to watch those shows.
Hell, Spongebob has an adult following. Just look at how successful the movies were, and not all of that revenue comes from kids.
