  • good video

  • does every axle pop out like that? i appreciate your video cheers buddy helped alot

  • @mitsubishi04 MOST do, but Subaru's and VW's are a marked exception.

  • if only it was THAT easy to break loose the spindle nut...

  • have you done a video doing the axle on the driver side? im going to be installing new axles on my 96 accord. i liked this video it definitely has helped me understand how to do this myself.

  • Thanks buddy, just got done changing out my son's right side shaft.....below freezing....in the snow. It was a pain in the ass but we got her done. The only difference on mine was there were 2 brake line brackets to unbolt and the upper ball joint wouldn't separate. I instead pulled the strut and unbolted the upper control arm instead. I'd have never gotten it done so easy without the video since my Chilton's has crap pictures and directions.

  • @ElChevelle Well you're welcome- way to get'r done!

  • Yep

  • Thank u for the reply

  • @motorhead136 No problem. The whole idea is to help people out right?

  • I have a vibration on accelerating and my driverside cv has up and down play so I am replacing both cv shafts would this take care of the vibration it only happens under load

  • @motorhead136 If your wheel bearings are good then yes.

  • 1st I want to tell you.... Damn good video! I'm having a problem, with my car. I'm getting two different answers. CV joints or bearings?! Once my car reaches 55mph, my steering wheel starts to shake. Its only happen at 55mph! I had my tires balanced. I'm lost! Thanks

  • @Quaid78 Sounds like one of your tires is damaged.

  • Well done! Thanks

  • @TheBuddy1939 You're welcome!

  • You make it look pretty easy. Never done it before but going to use this video as a guide. I have a 96 accord lx. Great job man.

  • DONT FORGET TO DING THE NUT

  • learned a lot from this vid you answered all my questions

  • @martinezroland35 Good deal. Thanks for the feedback!

  • OMG!!!! OMG!!!! I KNOW I SOUND LIKE A HOMO BUT OMG!!!! YOU DISCRIBE EVERYTHING WITH DETAIL THATS WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD DO ONE YOUTUBE!!! THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH MAN I SERIOUSLY NEEDED THIS VID>>>>>>>>LATE

  • @yeaimsingle0113 Well.... you're welcome. Thanks for clicking like.

  • @yeaimsingle0113 WTF OMG HAHA

  • Hi Brian, Do you think it would be advisable to always replace the seals in the transmission; considering that they usually have 100+K miles on them when replacing the axles? I watch all your videos. Thanks

  • @dojmike I usually only replace them if they're leaking. I always grease the axle where the seal rides though.

  • @briansmobile1 Do you oil the outside of the seal to help it go in? Do you use a bushing driver or have any suggestions for helping it in?

Great videos - very confidence inspiring! Thank you

  • @pirellipzero I usually lube the outside (if necessary) with sealant or silicone on the outer diameter of the seal to help it go in. That way once dry it helps keep it there and seal it up too.

  • Who would dislike this? I guess some people just can't resist committing random acts of douchebaggery.

  • @nightmathzombieethan ah yes, the douchebaggery marches on across the interwebs.

  • I just watched AutoZones video and it was not nearly as entertaining as yours. Your sound effects and filmography are excellent. May need a little more light under there but I think I can handle this now. So nice job and thanks.

  • @TheBuffalosoldier22 You're most welcome my friend!

  • Good very well quick to the point excellent job

  • @TheInfinity0109 Thanks- I'm glad you liked the video.

  • Is it a similar job on a 92 civic? I hear clicking when I turn and I think I'm leaking tranny fluid from the axle area..

  • @deegaw11 yes.

  • Great, you have made my life easy,i really appreciate what you do,sharing your knowledge thank you Brian..

  • @scarpycocoful I'm so happy I could be of service. That makes me feel special.

  • Hey Brian just wanted to say thanks for the video. I'm glad you added the P.s., that was my main question about whether to grease or not. Thanks for the vid! P.s. I liked the sound effects! Had me laughin!

  • @forsey43 You're welcome. Thanks for the feedback.

  • good video, I am going to try to change my cv axle and rotors when parts come in. and you are alot better then a 20 dollar repair manual

  • @mickstar89 Thanks. I've done things with those manuals and felt they weren't super helpful or accurate. That's one of the reasons I make the vids. If a picture is worth a thousand words then a video is worth millions.

  • Brian can u help..I need to change the clutch idk how can u show how on a b18a1

  • this guy sounds like seth rogan

  • @BruceWayne2489 I'm BATMAN!

  • why do some people say you got to change the gear oil when changing the passenger side axle.I changed one on my 92 accord should i be worried?

  • @yhx1000000 If the gear oil is OK don't be. If it has metal in it or it's black change it.

  • I have a crx with a b18 and I have watch 10 videos and asked around but all the help or advice I get does not help...but I saw this video and bam lest than 1 hour I had it out..nice vis mad..very help full..

  • @lancermarco Good.

  • Really good and helpful video. I tried today to remove the "little guy" at 4:41. It did not come out all the way. I am gonna to try again today. Thanks for making these videos. They are more informative than certain repair manual.

    Thanks!

  • @yellowman328is You're welcome. Good luck man.

  • @yellowman328is

I got it done in less than 2 hours. It helped that I fought yesterday all day long trying to get it out, so today's it was a breeze. Now, I am ready to tackle the other side.

  • It was a very wild ride , and fun while it lasted. It was not very consistant and always breaking parts when the slicks were on, this was back in the day of the 5.0 mustangs and they don't take it to well when a honda sends them home. Those days are gone, as you know most women think cars are a waste of money unless it's theirs. would like to try again with a K-20.

  • As a fellow mechanic I must say great video! Very nice of you to show just how easy axle replacement is. I always keep one on hand at the drag strip, i have snaped several with my crx.

  • @xfalcon64x Sounds like a serious CRX!

  • great video man love the solid commentary. nothing worse than someone guessing at what the hell they're doing. had my axle snap off on my ride home tonight [turbo integra] and this is going to save me so much hassle. thanks again!

  • @TheUrbanB You're welcome.

  • Nice Job,,

  • haha man love this vid blurrrt blurrrrrt hahaha air tools

  • Comment removed

  • great video...do you have any videos on how to change the inner tie rod for that same car?

  • loved the video it was really helpful, thanx for posting.

  • thank you i save $100 just by watching it, its nice and clearly step by step !!..

  • great video really showed step by step

  • @carlitosIE You're welcome my friend!

  • great video......saved myself a ton of money!!!!

  • @jhadley29 Good!

  • awesome video

  • @rock0790 Thank you. You're very kind.

  • @briansmobile1 has anyone ever told you that you sound like seth rogan?!?! haha

  • @supersoni126 You're the first- I'll check it out.

  • Great video, you make it an enjoyable learning experience.

  • @914pitbull Jolly good then. Thanks for the comment.

  • why not just put a new clip on

  • sounds like you broke it at 6:00 haha

  • great video i have followed all your steps but i can not disconnet the axle from the trany , i've used curle bar alonge with a hammer any thing else i can use to disconnet?? thank you

  • @alextoyboytkd Is it a drivers side long axle that's bolted into a carrier bearing that has to be unbolted? If not then rotate the axle 180 degrees and try the hammer/prybar method again. Sometimes the clip will only come out a little each side so you have to rotate upside down, hit it. rotate upside down again and hit it. etc.

  • awesome video brian thanx a lot man, keep up the good work!

  • @sokcheachoun Thanks and you're welcome!

  • Great Video! What type of grease should I be lubricating the axle with though?

  • @tonyhuynh I use Marine grade grease. It's synthetic- disolves well in ATF and won't plug up ports in an automatic or manual trans.

  • i have a wheel with a key lost the key though. i was wondering if i Have to take the wheel off

  • @Saru86p There's a special socket set I got from Sears that I use for those. It's called a damaged bolt remover socket set.

  • thanks brian

  • @Saru86p You're welcome

  • Brian great vid on replacing an axle. Hands down best tutorial on the Tube. Post Script was pure genius. How about a tutorial on replacing upper and lower ball joints? Keep up the great videos.

  • @cj4ever04 Next chance I get I'll do it. It's on my list now. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • keep making videos like this, you actually show people everything around the car's problm

you are by far the best youtube mechanic to watch...keep it up

  • @Linewing760 Thanks- will do- I try to fill in the huge gaps that Alldata, Chilton, and Haynes all have.

  • holly shit, i have the exact rims on my 97 civic dx.

  • @LGPEINADO Sweeeeeeet.

  • Awesome video!

Although, I would remind all newbies to first drain the transaxle before pulling that passenger side driveaxle:-)

If you are doing the driver's side driveaxle only, and your honda/acura has an intermediate shaft, then no need to worry. (Late 80s/early 90s civics don't have an intermediate shaft on the driver side....)

  • @CaptainGSR On a level lift you have to drain, but on the floor and if you only lift one side it won't spill. Being a ground dweller has it's advantages sometimes. ; )

  • @briansmobile1, Ah nice, I did not know that!! Thank you, you just saved me some money!!!

  • @CaptainGSR That's what I'm trying to do ova HERE! ha ha YES!

  • i like it doud :D

  • @tooty008 No problem I came up with that on my own. I was installing a cheaply re manufactured axle a customer provided and it wouldn't go in.- I pulled it back out and saw bite marks on the crude C-clip. I was taught to use additional grease to hold needle bearings in to U-joint caps to retain them and thought this would work here too. Since then it's been a habit. It really helps it slip in smoothly and prolongs seal life. Thanks for posting!

  • great vid man! i am loving the sound effects and would lvoe too see more :) i spend hours once trying to get an axle back in as the c clip wouldn't go back in! if only you made this a few months back oh well :)

  • @Shroffff Ya, I've been a slacker about CV axle vids.... especially for how many I do.

  • @briansmobile1 well thanks for doin one in the end :)

  • @Shroffff You're welcome.

  • who mods their car and doesn't work on it them selves?!

  • @2fockgugle1 Student who are schooling thousands of miles from home and have no tools or place to work. Poor guy. I hooked him up. ; )

  • great, almost the same as a ford off smaller kind like mondeo 2.0liters .,good to know, thanx

  • Good video Brian, definitely improving on these vids.

  • Good info using the grease.

  • Hey, Brian. Great vid always. Thanks. I like to see a vid on 2002 vw beetle turbo replacement on timing belt and water pump, and transmission fluid change. Thanks

  • By the way, thanks for the tip how to identify which CV joint is causing clicking when you turn. Once you know, it's hard to forget.

  • @spelunkerd You're welcome. Thanks for commenting

  • That's a great review, Brian.

  • pretty parts gal

  • @hp11208 She's a sweet heart- fun to punk, but quick to punk back too.
