Also, I am not a puritan but she sings WAY too nasally.
For whoever cannot tell the difference, check around 00:50 - she is singing the "mmm" through the nose than switches to singing normally "we'll never be.." - sounds almost the same.

I never thought I could find someone that would make this song more alluring than Madonna, but Katherine's version is simply sublime. It's also in the original key of F minor, which is beautifully haunting and seductive.

That's a very ignorant comment. There's at least 6 distinct types of opera, and they are quite different in style musically. Opera is the greatest art form invented by mankind, but of course, like everything good is an acquired taste.

Personally, I prefer "operatic ranges" which opera purists, usually scoff at; like Sarah Brightman, Emma Shapplin, Jade Laura d'Angelis, Chiara Zefferilli, etc. Voices that are NOT so intense (screechy?), but still allow music lovers -- the luxury of hearing the crystalline beauty -- of the feminine voice.
I should also add that some people think Sarah Brightman is "opera".
Even Sarah, herself, has never claimed she's opera. Technically, she's not; along with a lot of other singers who have "operatic ranges", but are not "opera".
From personal experience, I've been labeled as an "opera lover" many times by people, who didn't know, the difference.
