  • Thankyou, that makes sense.

  • @pistachionut24 no problem, been doing it for 33 years.. I should know "some"thing haha

  • Why not leave a branch on each tree as a 'sap drawer' , until the grafts have established.?

  • @pistachionut24 older trees yes.. young ones, not necessary

  • @pistachionut24 actually the "nurse limb" is not to draw sap but to bleed off excess sap.. which is necessary for older larger established root systems

  • Just seen it once on Youtube, I grafted Chinese apricot into my Hunza apricot tree. To my surprise the graft took off like crazy. all four of them on four small branches. I used cardboard box cutter to cut the grafts and black electric tape to hold them together. I removed the tape after 8 weeks and are healing well. Next year I am going to graft Shakar Parah white apricots into my tree so I can have 3 in 1. It's either that I did a good job on my grafts or that grafting apricot is very easy.

  • ive done some pecan grafting but not in a pro way just my dad and i experamening

  • its cool those guys have worked for you for so long

  • That's really interesting! 5*

  • Wow 1963impala2dr..! Pretty Cool Stuff There I Never Knew Grafting Was Done On Cherry Trees... Cool Vid..

  • thats cool about 15 yrs ago I did this with vary young apple trees, now they huge. its a good feeling. take care.

  • Ken my friend that right there was an interesting piece of video! I was amazed by the extent the 4 year old trees are cut back to accept the grafting. It does makes sense, being as the 4 year old root system is what you are looking to acquire, but I hadn't ever seen it done before. It was very informative. Great to see your guys and to see a little of your work.

  • doesnt matter how old they are, they are cut back so the new variety starts at the same scaffold level as the tree was previously trained. that way, they arent fighting suckers from the old variety..
