We took our kids to a couple of wwf and a local wrestling show from a Canadian Association. Every time we went a wwf wrestling event some young guy charged the ring to help out the good guys, but both times the security was quck enough to grab the legs and pull them out of the ring and then escorted out of the building. For the local wrestling always there was this elderly lady, Jesse at wring side, and she clawed the back of one of the bad guys when he was in arms reach.
I lived in nashville tennessee all my life and as a kid i remember going to the nashville fairgrounds every saturday night to watch the same guys i saw on tv that morning.I have such fond memories of those times.I also remember when the fabs were on tha card it would always take like 10 minutes for them to fight their way through the fans just to get to the ring, lol.
Yes, Stan Lane has a background in karate. He was a black belt but since this was wrestling, he was only allowed to use it slightly. Ricky Steamboat and Tommy Gilbert were also black belts. I miss the good, old days! The original Sheepherders were the hSit!
Anyone know if Stan Lane did have a legitimate background in karate? He always seemed to use a little of it in his bouts, and I am curious if that was a put on or if he actually competed or trained?
do you understand that i was COMPLIMENTING the state where i still live. do you live near the oak ridge nuclear reactor or something?? how old are you kid?
@DVROFFMAN : Spot (Larry Latham) kept the Moondogs gimmick going in Memphis throughout the 90s and had several new partners... mostly small timers. They went by names like Spike, Splat and Cujo...
i can tell from the comments that you all are TRUE wrestling fans! God love you, as we know real wrestling, not just sports entertainment. much love to the fabulous ones(although they had a ton of entrance songs)

@deptofcorrections1 Yeah, the budget for Jerry Jarrett just didn't include guard rails until like 1988 =P

i didn't like the idea of moving to tennessee as a kid. then i found memphis wrestling and the NWA. those 2 things made it all more tolerable

The guy who starts the match off against Steve Keirn, Bill Smithson, would eventually become on of the Moondogs. He would become Moondog Spike!

When was there a Spike Moondog? Spot,Rex and King were the only ones I ever heard of.
