And the industrial power of Germany, France, Benelux, Scandinavia, all against Soviets. If anything, Axis outnumbered Soviets in men as 1.1 : 1, in industry like 2.5 : 1.

Kind of stupid: Soviet T-34 - German Pz III, Soviet T-34 - German Pz V Panther, Soviet T-34 - German Pz VI King Tiger. Most of it is Germans as of 1944-45 versus Soviets as of 1941. @anaplastic Panther had no issues dealing with is IS-2s or the SU-100s as they both required two piece ammo and had such a slow rate of fire they got knocked out quite often. There was just always more then one was the problem.
Are you joking? Do you know the kill ratio of IS-2 and especially SU-100 (named by soldiers "fuck everything") against both Panthers and Tigers? Only King Tiger was formally superior, but they were few, heavy and unreliable. The Soviet D-10S gun with single piece ammo F-412 knocked every Panther and Tiger frontally from 1,500m, only King Tiger could approach to 500m. Fine, if showing only Soviet T-34/76 from 1940, rifles and cavalry, then show only German Pz III, rifles and horses too, I have to remind you that even by 1943 60% of German war logistics was horse-powered. It's a common misconception that Wehrmacht was a sort of a modern army. Wrong, in 1941 it was 70% on horse tracks, by 1943 Soviets were more mechanized and mobile than Germans. Do you think that Soviets won the war with some courageous hands only? THEY WERE BETTER ARMY OVERALL.
@anaplastic May be true, but that should not surprise anyone due to the fact that the Soviet Union had far more resources on both men and material. You should also not forget the fact that the Wehrmacht fought on two fronts all along since 1941. Actually the Wehrmacht's main problem wasn't the poor mechanization but rather the incompetence of it's leaders - especially Hitler himself.
Actually Germany alone had a more powerful industry than the entire USSR, without talking that large industrial parts of USSR were occupied and rendered useless. And it was not Germany alone, it was the industry of France, Benelux, North Europe used by Germany too. The main problem of Germany (and its occupied Europe) was a strange lack of a real, total-war mobilization. The manufacturers were asking for ridiculously high prices for tanks, planes, guns, trucks, in fact everything.

What you mentioned about the weapon prices is eventually correct, but I think there are other reasons to consider. First I would not say that the M1A2 is 10-15 times better than the Tiger. Simply because you cannot compare a WW II tank to a modern MBT. The Tiger & Tiger II's performance was undoubtedly the best of all tanks in WW II.

For example a Tiger costed 200,000 Reichsmark, and a pretty stupid Pz IV 100,000. In current prices it would mean some $1.2 million for a Tiger. A peace-time Abrams M1A2 costed about $3 million in 1995, and is probably 10-15 times better than a Tiger. I repeat, peace-time price for a limited number of Abrams. Something was screwed up with the German manufacturers in times of deep war. Even Brits managed much better prices, without talking of state-controlled Soviet factories.
It should be noted that the Russian Freedom fighters also known as the "Ethnic Russians" fought with their Eastern European Allies to liberate Russia from Georgian racist Stalin, and free the good Russian people.

Germany alone had 85 millions, and the direct satellites like Hungary, Romania etc. another 40 million. Axis forces against Soviets had MORE human resources than the Soviets. And the industrial power of Germany, France, Benelux, Scandinavia, all against Soviets. If anything, Axis outnumbered Soviets in men as 1.1 : 1, in industry like 2.5 : 1.

About Scandinavia: Finland and Norway were Nazi allies/satellites. Sweden' exports were German oriented. Greater Germany + Volksdeutsche were 85 million, not 80.

On average, Axis on the East fielded 4 million soldiers, Soviets 5.5 million. The "mystery" is that: having more human resources and a much larger industrial base, the Axis didn't manage to field more soldiers and to build more weapons against Soviets. Germans were funny folks, after killing off 15 million Soviet civilians, they were hoping to finally have a retreat in Paris' coffee shops. If not for Allied bombings, there was business as usual in Germany in 1943-44. Funny folks.

Kind of stupid: Soviet T-34 - German Pz III, Soviet T-34 - German Pz V Panther, Soviet T-34 - German Pz VI King Tiger. Most of it is Germans as of 1944-45 versus Soviets as of 1941. Make Soviets look stupid, but by 1944-45 I wouldn't like at all being inside a German Panther and facing a Soviet IS-2 or SU-100.

Only King Tiger was formally superior, but they were few, heavy and unreliable. The Soviet D-10S gun with single piece ammo F-412 knocked every Panther and Tiger frontally from 1,500m, only King Tiger could approach to 500m. You should also not forget the fact that the Wehrmacht fought on two fronts all along since 1941. Actually the Wehrmacht's main problem wasn't the poor mechanization but rather the incompetence of it's leaders - especially Hitler himself.

Actually Germany alone had a more powerful industry than the entire USSR, without talking that large industrial parts of USSR were occupied and rendered useless. And it was not Germany alone, it was the industry of France, Benelux, North Europe used by Germany too. The main problem of Germany (and its occupied Europe) was a strange lack of a real, total-war mobilization. The manufacturers were asking for ridiculously high prices for tanks, planes, guns, trucks, in fact everything.

What you mentioned about the weapon prices is eventually correct, but I think there are other reasons to consider. First I would not say that the M1A2 is 10-15 times better than the Tiger. Simply because you cannot compare a WW II tank to a modern MBT. The Tiger & Tiger II's performance was undoubtedly the best of all tanks in WW II.

I also think that the industries pricing was one of the factors but the main reason of the costs was the complexity of these tanks. Only 493 Sd. Kfz. 182 ("King Tiger" or Tiger II) were produced from Nov. '43 to the end of the war. In comparison: The production of the M4 Sherman were about 2.000 per month.

For example a Tiger costed 200,000 Reichsmark, and a pretty stupid Pz IV 100,000. In current prices it would mean some $1.2 million for a Tiger. A peace-time Abrams M1A2 costed about $3 million in 1995, and is probably 10-15 times better than a Tiger. I repeat, peace-time price for a limited number of Abrams. Something was screwed up with the German manufacturers in times of deep war. Even Brits managed much better prices, without talking of state-controlled Soviet factories.

@random777hero Yet they did take on the USSR, they pushed half way through Russia and broke the morals of many Russian soldiers; there were mutiny's, and deserters commonly reported. The Perseverance and climate helped the Russians big time. The Russians were trained in cold climate and tanks made for snow as for the German soldiers were not and their tanks could not tread on snow. Then the "revolutionary" but so simple design was created for the T-34 which tipped in the favour of Russia...

England und Russland hätten verloren wären die Amis uns nicht in den Rücken gefallen.England sowieso lange hätten die nicht mehr durchgehalten. Hitler entschied, sie aus Kostengründen nicht zu bauen. Nicht dass ich für die Atombombe bin, aber es zeigt, wie sehr zerfahren das 3. Reich letztlich war. Es hatte eine schicke Oberfläche.

For those people arguing for Russia, they're the ones who took heaviest casualties, their units were extremely "expendable" and keeping troops alive was less important then pushing back the German invasion do yes, they killed most, and lost the most, for me that is not "tactics" it's completely primitive
