@Haseo445 yea, but asuka, and shinji, both handle their feelings in a differnt way, if anything, they suffer from almost the same things, but they have a differnt way to hide their own pain, shinji stays quiet, so no one sees him, and asuka is loud so people will stay at a distance

Asuka's attitude is just a mask to hide her own self-loathing, the same way Shinji uses EVA to give himself a purpose or how Misato uses her own cheery and light-hearted attitude to mask her depression.

yeah well, some people prefers the pair with asuka, others with rei. in the anime is more with asuka, and in the manga (I havent finished of reading it but for the volumes I have seen) is a little more with rei. in Japan they released a game long ago (I dont know how it was), but in the end you can chosee on of the two
