I lost the adjuster screws on the neck pick-up, so the tape is to stop the pick-up falling out and banging against the strings! It still works fine, but I very rarely use the neck pick-up in any case.

How hard was it to swap out the pickups? I've been considering doing something similar for a long time now.

i had to re wire my whole guitar and re drill the holes for the wires to go through to make them bigger. if you are getting different pick ups make sure you have someone who knows how to saulder and dont get emgs unless you have someone good with drills and electronics

That's a compliment. Why? Because the first thing I thought was "I hate this guys tone" yet I watched this video from beginning to end. In other words, it was very nicely done. Yes, you're right, you made mistakes. But who doesn't? There's always room for improvement. Good job.

Looking through the huge chips in the paintwork I think it's made of layered chip-board, which probably isn't ideal. Plus the strings aren't really heavy enough to be tuned down this low, which is probably the biggest factor in the loss of tone. That and the FX pedal I'm using is a cheap piece of crap :D

Yeah, I was thinking about that actually. Amon tune down 5 halfsteps if I'm not mistaken, and it's looking like you're using 9's or maybe 10's, which is hardly enough to give satisfactory tone with a tuning like that. Regardless, it was still done well.

but yeah, a bolt-on warlock with a cheap standard bridge, it's safe to assume it's not made out of top class wood, either. So you're probably right about that, too.

Wow, I'm impressed by your powers of observation! Perfect description of the build on the guitar, and pretty close on the strings too! They are Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms, top three from a set of 9's, bottom 3 from a set of 11's. Perfect for open Cmaj tuning for playing SYL, not so good for going any lower than that.

Full marks for tuning as well, standard B, so 5 half steps down :)

speaking of tuning im really pissed because my high e string broke while screwing around on my strings with my whammy bar but i haven't restring mine in 9 months witch is really dumb of me i was just asking for it and when i was being a retard it happened
