Man I just don't understand why this stuff isn't more popular. ATDI was arguably one of if not THE most influential punk bands of all time and they were big by most punk standards but were nothing compared to the commercial freight trains that rule the industry today. Difference being ATDI is fucking amazing and most of the bands in the latter category suck giant donkey boner. People have to be extremely brainwashed to look at these guys and NOT be inspired as all fuck to learn how 2 jizz gold.
@computervidsfromme there is no need to disagree about trivial rhetoric. Omar has said many things about At the Drive-in and both you and I are correct.
I'm fairly certain this was 1998. I was at that show. Probably 75 people there but one of the most memorable shows I was ever at. Small schoolhouse outside of Geensburg, PA...a little town called Armbrust. There were a few anti-racism groups there and The Movie Life played. I'm pretty sure Dawson High played that night too. Go look up The Juliana Theory if you don't know who Dawson High is. ATDI was truly inspirational. Their energy was unreal.
lol, yeah its easy to spot out omar, but you can barely tell that is cedric, looks nothing and sings nothing like hime. but then you see him climbing on things and running all around and salsa dancing and then you know its cedric lol
he did heroin.. but trust me he smoked crack at varios times also. he's admited that he was freebasing when he received the news of jeremy ward's death, which was one of his reasons for getting clean. cedric was a "whatever's on the table" type drug user in the 90s
Hello - I've got a bunch of MARS VOLTA / AT THE DRIVE IN gigs from 2001-2008 on dvd and i'm always open to trading with other filmers, etc. I've been filming gigs for 18yrs and have hundreds on my site - email me if anyone's interested in trading or getting some shows on dvd in the mail....thanks.
To the guys who think TMV sucks...guys I LOVE AT THE DRIVE IN!!! but thats not a reason to hate their new projects.....The Mars Volta is different and they didnt do it thinking of "what our fans or ATDI are going to think about this" they did it cuz they love doing what they are doing, and they loved ATDI on its time.....move on!
I bet they would reunite for a tour to support there new bands (The Mars Volta, and Sparta) if they were paid enough, but in inter views Cedric and Omar who are now in the Mars Volta said that they wouldn't, and the other Sparta guys (I don't know there names) said there wasn't trust between them anymore and that they always felt young in that band. And in my personal opinion the guys from Sparta were holding Cedric and Omar back.
Yes I did I loved it actually, but I prefer The Mars Volta, and I thought since At the Drive In was so great I thought Sparta would be better but I was disappointed when I wasn't by the Mars Volta, but I would definitely go see a At the Drive In concert if it ever happened, because I did like there music.
ATDI just went their seperate ways. And as fans we respected that and got left with Sparta and The Mars Volta. It would be nice to see ATDI play just one more show. But in reality the probability of that is not high.
All we can do is watch the past and remember ATDI as the great band it was.
I doubt that they would reunite for anything. Omar in an interview(recently in the past year) has said that At the Drive-In is "like a girlfriend from high school that gave you crabs" (sorry I do not know the exact interview, wish I cold remember though)
yeah youre totally right i remember that one too, he said something like: "Its like Im married with 4 children and you ask me if I would like to date a girlfriend you had in highschool" he also said "we were a known band like for a year, if you didnt see us during that time, its your problem" the mars volta is what he is interested now
Yea, but there's also been another interview where he's stated that he'd do a reunion tour if he was paid enough as he would use the money to support TMV. So moral of the story, every ATDI fan needs to start holding bake sales and make this shit happen.
If anyone out there wants to see a reunion there is an online website you can sign. Tony Paul Cedric Omar And Jim all playing together thus forming at the drive in. If there is enough There might be a chance to see them again thanks petitiononlinedotcom/ATDI
I hate my life for living 30 minutes from Greensburg and missing this. Absolutely hate. I even went to some shows in that area around this era. I didn't know about this, though. I may not have even listened to them yet though, if this is right around when in/casino/out came out. Bummer.
This video proves that Omar and Cedric have always been amazing and passionate about performing. (even if some of their behavior is aided by drugs) haha.
