i have a gti V. it is a briliant car . i hope the new one is better. I dont understand why someone is talking about mazdas, hondas, etc. If i did not had the money to buy a GTI Golf I would say the same. It is like I say that the GTI is better than a M3. actually, as it turns out, according to edmunds or insideline, I can't remember which, the mazdaspeed3 is king of the world of sport compacts, followed closely by the wrx wagon

Mexmiler u need to do a bit more research. The thing about VW is that they like to make a well rounded car. To interor, exterior and performence. The thing about the MazdaSpeed 3 is that is about speed and acceleration...... thats all interor Quality SUCKS as hell have seen it and the brakes are are absolutly NOT qualify for the performence of the car, thats just bad engineering. Road and Track and other magizine fells the same about this car.

Also Mexmiler Never compare a GTI to a WRX because the price range says it all. VW was trying to make a low budget well rounded rocket car (its nickname) and have won. U can compare a WRX to a Audi A4 Quattro drive buts there is no competation there. Audi set up the 4 wheel drive system bench make since the 1980 with the Audi Quattro Sport car. Still is the bench maker today.

i love GTI's. i love the ideas that a car can just look like a normal everyday car but be ferocious when you want it to be. but i do not like the tiptronic gearboxes. i rented an alfa in italy that had one and it was diabolically bad. it misses gear constantly and was generally a bit of a dog and ive heard from froends that their experiences are the same. and to be honest its just one massively expensive thing to inevitabley go wrong.

1. Everyone needs to stop griping about the seats. Plaid fucking rocks, k? If you don't like it, well, just pay extra for the leather ones.

2. The styling changes are subtle, yeah...but all for the better. Volkswagen knows better than to fuck up such an iconic vehicle. This car looks fantastic.

3. I like the new grille way better than the current "shield" styled one.

4. Those rims are rad.

Verdict: I want one; red, manual gearbox, and with the tacky, controversial plaid seats.

I've got the MK5 gti and cant really see why I would want to change up to the MK6 by the looks of it. It seems a bit sleeker looking but nothing too different. To be fair the MK5 is so good I suppose they found it hard to make it better. Oh I have the 18 inch monza's on mine and they look the part :)

I have the current Mark V GTI, and I am just a little dissappointed with the Mark VI. Not a whole lot different. Couple of extra HP, and bigger wheels and a limited slip... probably not enough to tempt me to trade up... thats just my take on it.

The arese end looks like the Mk3 big time. It brought back the memory of my dearly departed VR6.
